The shells are unfortunately primarily made of metallized plastic, not anodized aluminum. Quite convincing it seems! Crazy that planar IEMs are this accessible now. Hi-Fri Audio has a video tearing these down and showing the driver, if you’re keen for more detail on that.
Been waiting to see what you'd say about these. Got them to replace the ZSX Terminators that I lost. Sadly I can't try them back to back, to notice the difference, but both sound great to me. The non-hifi tuned ones are really quite bassy, but I'll take that given that it makes the most of all the bass that the planar can kick out. Glad you have justified my purchase so now I know I'm allowed to like them ;)
I'm going to reply to myself here... Found my ZSX Terminators today! So was able to test these back to back, admittedly biased towards wanting the PR1 to sound better to justify the purchase. Happy to report that they are a significant upgrade. Much clearer and fuller sounding, I often found myself smiling when switching back to the PR1 because the music was just more engaging, less brash. Almost as if there was more going on, filling the spaces. They are currently about the same price (PR1 Pro is only$40 at the moment), so a total bargain in my book.

The PR2 is about to come out if it hasn't already for around $45 USD and is a collab with HBB. It's such a compelling price since I've never heard a planar before. Apparently the tuning is also like the Zetian Wu, which I've wanted for awhile. I think I'll give KZ one more chance.

Had to order 'em since the ZSN Pro X pair I have got the washer treatment (they lost a bit of their sound but they're okay now that they're dry. I can still hear a bit of a quality loss). Never tried planars before. These will be my first pair. Reason is the Sound Stage. I wanna see how these handle uncompressed audio compared to my old KZs.

I have 3 including this one in my wish list currently Fiio FH3 Letsshuoer S12 pro KZ PR1 HIFI Im just beginning in this hobby and i’ve just found out I enjoy a warmer sound and am treble sensitive ( like knives in my brain) Keeping this in mind Id like to ask a question. In the $150 range which iem should I upgrade to ? Curently I have bought the Salnotes zero and the BTR5 on the 11:11 sale and will continue to enjoy music in detail and while better iems may come in 2023 Id like to ask regarding the already excisting iems
You might want to consider the TANGZU Zetian Wu. I'd also rec the Seekreal Airship - I should do some a/b with airship and fh3 and might need to update my lists (wondering if FH3 treble might be a bit sharp for your tastes).

They are open back but the bass is still there and by god when I put on a correctly mastered flac tracks on it I can literally imagine where each and every sound comes from and that’s so much fun the detail is there too and I use them more often than my M40x s (They have too much treble it physically hurts to listen to)
I like these but I feel you really need to power these to get a good volume out of them, I use my BTR5 at max wack and the volume still feels like it's lacking, and also when I use them in my AZ09 Pros they really feel like they don't get loud enough for me, idk maybe I'm not listening to the correct kind of music these are built for but I seem to get more out of my ZAS in volume over these, but then again it isn't all about volume
Right now i have the discounted priced for the new PR1 Pro for 40$. Let's just say it has the same technicalities as the PR1 HiFi. Do you think i should get the PR1 Pro, or should i save for the S12/S12 Pro for the technicalities. I'm fine with EQ btw
I have the original S12's and I love them but I admit to being curious about the PR1's. I have the original KZ ZS10 Pro and the ZAX16 which I like but the S12's just walk all over these. However, I will probably get the PR1 just because. 😂 If you get the S12's, you may not listen to your KZ any more. You've been warned lol.

@@VanDungLe2510 the bass/mid fr might measure the same but they won't sound the same. I admit I'm guessing on that because I haven't heard the PR1 but planar drivers (membranes actually) will just sound different than DD/BA drivers, even if they measure the same. Planars just have a technical, articulate, and balanced sound that's just above average, sometimes dramatically so. I think it's worth it to try the S12's but that's just my opinion.
@@housepianist Oof, that's gonna be tough. I'm from Vietnam and 150$ for a pair of iem is worth at least a month of eating for 1 person. So finding a Shuoer S12 to try it out is like finding a needle in haystack.

I think just stick with the PR1 Pro if you like a warm sound signature. If you want extra clarity and a brighter tonality get the S12 Pro.

Chu is more neutral and leaner. PR1 has better overall resolution.
I'm more focused on the bass part, well done.
