  • It was great to see this Former British Railways Standard Class Tank Engine back in steam at the Bo'ness and Kinneil Railway again after its long restoration not helped by the covid pandemic, so a big thank you to all those dedicated guys who worked hard to restore this lovely engine and return it back to its former glory.

    Aye, but where will it be used once it's back pulling trains? SRPS have precisely one ex-BR steam locomotive in operating order and what do they do with it? Operate it on the B&KR? Nah, they sent it down to Tunbridge Wells, of course. Will the same thing happen to 80105?

      @ecksfilesbonyuk8  15 дней назад

      Thank you for your comments 80105 will operate at the B&KR for a while I'm sure but its movement to other railways will of course be up to SLOG Locomotive Owners Group (Scotland) Limited

    Brilliant to see it back up and running!
    Hope it makes a visit up North to the Strathspey Railway, I remember it pulled the inaugral service to Broomhill when the extension was completed, while it was on hire.

    Strange really isn’t it? Back in 1955 a lot of hard working men, assembled a considerable amount of ferrous metal and a few lumps of non ferrous too,…to form what then was a large, soulless piece of machinery, probably known as IT, when it arrived at Plaistow’s sheds! And now, nearly 70 years later, we understandably perhaps, fawn all over it! Somehow, it’s developed a soul, and we insist that it’s (now she), kept amongst us, where we all now rue the passing of its many lost sisters! Strange indeed, but absolutely right and justified! We also rue the passing of all who built these impressive machines! Long may it last and the skills to repair and maintain, stay around!? Cheers all.

    Possibly the best looking class of tank engines in the world (although some of tge German ones may rival it).

    My late Uncle worked on the LTS and he would probably have driven this engine.

    Why is it called Bo'ness ? What is the missing lettter ? W ? Why does the letter need to be missing ? What is wrong with Bowness ? Or is it more than one letter missing ? As Bowesness or Bowxxxxxxness ?

    • @ecksfilesbonyuk8
      @ecksfilesbonyuk8  13 дней назад

      The name Bo'ness is actually short for Borrowstounness which means the Burgh Town on the Ness. Located on the bank of the Firth of Forth, Bo'ness was once the second largest port in Scotland.
