- As the season approaches we're smashing out some well earned maintenance on Leon. Maintenance is a never pretty but a necessary evil to keep this car performing at its best and to keep that rotary heart alive when turning to 11krpm.

Another great vid guys, looking forward to the upcoming episodes. Regarding the Rebels, can you get inner tubes for them to help with air leaks?
Since painting the inside the wheels hold pressure alot better now. We might see 1 or 2 psi drop over a couple months. Good idea though, I'll have to look into it.

Call me "old school " but I've always followed the theory of longest line to shortest when bleeding/flushing brakes. 🤔 Any alternate theory that you guys work with here?
That's how we do it too. It makes sense even in a split master system like in the race car.

@@bettyandleon - Cool. I remember the Alan sedan from when Wayne had it in the early RX2 Nc days and seeing it at Wakefield. Am an RX2 fan from a way back, wishing I'd stocked up on those $3k original cars that were floating around in droves before the drag guys and natural attrition turned them into hens teeth .
@@ybu22z Oh nice! That's one of the reasons we really like the car because of the history behind it. Those guys raced Mazda Rx2s at Bathurst back in 71'. Although this isn't that actual car it's still a cool story that the previous owners are those guys.

What front brakes are those? Fitting under 13s 😯
They are a Volvo 4 piston caliper. It's fairly tight under there with about 1cm clearance to the wheel rim. Also a very heavy caliper as they are cast steel. We can't change to anything else as this is stipulated within the rules that the brakes must remain period (early1970s).
@@bettyandleon I saw these come up when I was searching for brake upgrades, did you run two brake lines to each caliper? And do you get any kind of performance pads for them?
@@466Kishan No, we only run one brake line. The brakes need to be cross drilled (a hole is drilled to join the 2 passages) and one of the ports where the second line goes is plugged. Its a pretty simple operation.
Plenty of pad choices. We run WINMAX or Project MU Club Racer of H16-03. Club racer is better for stops on a cold pad.
Just the set-up we used to run in vrrra in the 80's. 👍
