- HOLY WEEK IS HERE, AND FOR MANY PEOPLE IN THE PHILIPPINES... IT IS TIME TO MAKE BINIGNIT!
I actually don't know why or how this tradition started for a lot of people? But I do love it! "Binignit" is actually a term used where we live in the Philippines... but there are other terms and variations for this glutinous rice and root crop based dish. Anyways, we cooked it at the beach home here in Cateel... and turns out so did Mama Rose! Kumander Daot was back for a visit with his family (I am sure you can see it on his vlogs in the future). In this video, we also check out a local barangay waterfall that we had never visited. It is really a wonderful place to swim!!
So wonderful spending time back here at the beach home with friends and with Therine for Holy Week.
Have an awesome week ahead everyone!
Power On!

That is nahiyang magbanggit Ng name Ng tao or can not remember the name of this person. Kaya unang maisip kundi kuwan para mpadali s kuwento
Happy Eastereveryone and a Blessed Sunday too
13:21 “Cream” = Real Cream? Or Vegetable-Oil-Based Creamer?
I Avoid Vegetable Oil, Which Is *Most* Of The “Cream” In The Philippines!

Hello Kulas! We’ve met in Abreeza, Davao City just earlier today hehe. Take care and just enjoy exploring Davao City.
I'm 66 yo US/Visayan Babae. I believe binignit is a Catholic thing tied in w/fasting for Holy week(?). The weekend b4 Easter my father prepared the coconut & my mom cooked the binignit & that's all we ate until Easter. Definitely not complaining! So this practice is as old as time!
If you lost your words, you say "ahh...", "ano..." or "kuwan...."
Dude just saw you in the same airplane right now going to Davao from Cebu😂😂 save and happy trip🙏🏼
YO BRO. Nice meeting you in Zamboanga last TUESDAY. i was the dude heading to Basilan. And it was great better than I can even remember. Keep up the great work!
Have an awesome trip!

Ex: Inau ni anu yong anu dahil sa kaka anu nya naanu tuloy. 😂

Ur bikinitrosor is so sticka. Make it more sauce it will be more delicious😊 then.😊

At wala na yung isa sumali na sa kulto 😂
I really love Mama Rose. ❤🥰

It’s time you learn how to cook Kulas
Kuan is the local whatchamacallit.
Binignit for me is my ultimate comfort food. 😋

Binignit came to be because of FASTING and NOT EATING MEAT.
Until it become a custom every holy week.
yep! 💯
IN The Kuan.......😂
Binignit, sa tiyan manggunit, sa lubot musirit😁
hahaha
Happy Easter everyone. Pahingi ng binignit
Akopod beh Mama Rose❤❤
wow masarap yan binignit 😍
Classic and delicious binignit has only all natural ingredients- ube or gabi, saba banana, gata or coconut milk, tapioca pearls or sago, nangka or jackfruit.
Unlimited koan
Awesome 👌!
Great to see you all together having fun!!
Wow that's so yummy !!!
we're kapampangan's from Pampanga called that SAMPELOT pronounce as SAM-PE-LOT ☺
in hawaii kwan is da kine
I hear you Mama Rose. It’s customary for us Filipinos to use “kwan” or “ano” when we can’t think of the right word, place, term or name right away. Ex:
1) Nakita ko si “”Ano” (in place of a missing name) sa palengke.
2) Nandyan sa “kwan” (in place of a term/place) yung unan mo.
🤭🤪😊
happy easter everyone.
Kalami sa benignet mama rose.orig dyud ang mga sagol
Binignit is the hot version of halo-halo. Same ingredients right 😂😂😂
warm halo halo ftw
Kwan = watchamacallit 😂
OMG! 52 years living in Europe but this vid brings back happy childhood memories. I am overwhelmed by a wave of nostalgia. Thank you Kulas!
Taberak when I was young Kulas, CDOC
You made binignit which is a porridge with sweet potato and a banana and a taro with coconut milk 🥣🍌🍌🍌🍠🍠🍠🥥🥛
And you had a binignit that looked like a champorado because you put brown sugar on it 🥣🍌🍌🍌🍠🍠🍠🥥🥛🍫🟤🟤🟤
You and Mama Rose are making binignit it is like for fasting on catholics during lent 🥣🍌🍌🍌🍠🍠🍠🥥🥛👵🌹🥀
And you gave the extra one to Mama Rose 🥣🍌🍌🍌🍠🍠🍠🥥🥛👵🌹🥀
And there is a song about binignit same with spaghetti which is by sexbomb 🥣🍌🍌🍌🍠🍠🍠🥥🥛➡🍝🎼🎵🎶🎤
And you suggest that you will have a song with spaghetti and pancit like spancit 🍝🍜🎼🎵🎶🎤
And the tide is really high during summer 🌊🌊🌊
And you and Therine went on the hot spring pool 🏊
And you jump on the waterfall like Tarzan 💦💧
And Mama Rose had some wildest experience to people like in the movie like FPJ bwahahahahahaha 👵🌹🥀
And kwan is like reffering to something and it is Mama Rose's favorite word bwahahahahahahahaha 👵🌹🥀

KUAN is one of the most important word in bisaya. When it’s hard to explain you just say Kuan😂
Mga Kuan 🫡
Sa tagalog “ano”
Ang kuan nag kinu anay😂😂😂hehe…✌️
We don't eat meat during holyweek, that's why dishes like binignet is popular especially in provinces during lent season
Too many cooks…..😅 you really have the best of company ❤️❤️❤️❤️
Google: The dish is believed to have originated from the practices of early Filipino settlers who relied on simple and readily available ingredients to prepare meals during the Lenten season.
binignit became a thing simply because of meat fasting during holy week. fyi in Iligan city we call binignit....tabirak😁
in french canada, tabirak can be a bad word I believe
@@BecomingFilipino seriously? sorry.....🥴
@@BecomingFilipinotabarnak (tabernacle)
Ku an and di ba most commonly words. Lol!

It is popular to cook benignit in the Visayan region for observant catholic who fast and to avoid meat on Good Friday.
Nice. ❤❤❤ 🎉🎉🎉
Yes it’s a Holy Week tradition, my late mom would make that in Romblon, and also my grand mother inLeyte . After Easter, it’s our merienda.

When we were young during as far as I remember our mother cooks ginataang mais and coupled with gulaman. Those were our snacks during holyweek. We were not allowed to eat meat so our meals is mainly ginisang monggo and gulay. But that was in Central Luzon.
My father used to tell me that binignit or bilo bilo is good for holyweek or most commong easter sunday because this food signify or para maging close dw kasi malagkit😊😊 or sticky
Government should protect these areas for everyone. Develop access and bring opportunities to locals
That's sooo delicious ginataan halo-halo in tagalog❤️
Yes Kulas, Filipinos are like BDO, we find ways lol!
I think bilo-bilo is not made out of rice but some kind of fruit "kolo" looks like a jackfruit outside but tasteless when you eat it, correct me if I'm wrong.
BINIGNIT tabirak belo-belo genataan halohalo daghan pangalan
Kuan is just like saying “you know” in between phrases.
We cook binignit, bilo bilo because were not allow to eat meat during holy week.
