My heart sorta' lurched when Nightmare looked back to Equus from the moon. That look of despair and regret nearly killed me, as if she was torn halfway between Luna and Nightmare Moon.

I went into this video thinking it would be another tyrant Celestia video where she is one hundred percent responsible for Luna's banishment despite the scenes in the actual show where Luna says it was her own fault.

You know Luna's hair has always really tripped me up, with Celestia I like to think that she has actual tangible hair, and that her magical over flow (this mare raises the sun every day, and both the sun and moon for a thousand years, so that is totally plausible) is moving it subconsciously.
With Luna (who also would have magical over flow because she also has the ability to raise entire celestial bodies on a daily basis) though it looks more like fog or vapor around the edges than it does hair, which her first design is shown to have, so where does it go when her hair becomes that cloud of night as I like to put it after she goes through redesign.
You have answered this question with in my own head canon, because in the canon of your own animation you gave Luna's Nightmare Moon incarnation also have hair under her helm, leaving the only thing the cloud of night trailing behind her in the place of a mane, the energy that moves both Celestia's and Luna's hair, so thank you for answering that mental question.
*And for you nit-pickers who say that doesn't answer why Luna's hair is a cloud of night, it does because just look at the sky (well the atmosphere) in the day and at night, it's opaque in the day while translucent at night, which Celestia and Luna represent. So it makes since that Celestia's energy cloud thingy that moves her hair would be opaque like the day time sky, while Luna's is translucent like the night's.*
I hope you're proud of yourseld because when ever i hear this song i think of this and remember its amazing!

For some reason the part when Luna woke up on the moon hit me more than usual. She looks terrified, and regretful, and you nailed it. She probably didn't know how long she'd be alone... If mlp weren't a kids show, she probably would have lost her sanity from isolation. I hope you finish this!

i always loved frame-by-frame animations of MLP better than the tweened ones and holy shit was this so much better than other tweened puppet animations i've seen
props for adding the shading! it made it a lot more professional-looking, but the animation alone was flawless.
(also great job on the backgrounds too)

I completely agree with Crowne Prince - This style is smooth, new, creative, and amazing. I cannot stop watching this. I like how expressive it is and how it keeps up with the beat of the song. A wonderfully new way to enjoy MLP, compared to the usual flash puppets. Keep it up!

That's what a few people believe. I think it was the surface, but some people think otherwise. There are theories, but we are never really sure until Hasbro tells us.
If you go by what the comics alluded to trapped on the surface, but if you take from the episode when she is released from the moon it can go either way, the story book Twily is reading said she was sealed into the moon, while other parts of the episode states that she was simply exiled to the moon.==>And don't read after this if you don't want some random speculation that popped into my head when writing this comment.
On another completely unrelated note, what do you think everyone in kingdoms outside of Equestrea thought when they learned that Celestia had decided she had the authority to practically deface the moon by graffiti-ing it with the face of a criminal?
She can't be the only magical being to move the sun, after all she doesn't raise the sun in any other part of the world, just Equestrea.
So the only real explanation that could work with the set up of the sun has to be physically risen by magic (the unicorns did it at one point remember), is how the sun and moon orbit the planet (is it earth?) is that they're passing them around like hot potato, but for unworldly powerful demigod-like beings.
