I've been to Russia many times and I did not experience any more racism than I would experience in Western Europe! I met a lot of nice interesting people in Moscow and I must say I was also quite popular in the clubs... I even had a serious relationship with a Russian and I got along very well with all of her friends. I still have many Russian good friends. I remember my white German friends almost crucified me for going to Russia and that I should be very careful and this and that but to be honest I experienced more racism in Germany than in Russia!

As a black Moldovan (biracial) I’ve literally never had an issue in Russia, and my husband (also a birch al person born and raised in Moldova) has never had an issue. Sure, people are supposed to find two unrelated Moldovan who are biracial, born and raised in Eastern Europe, but they aren’t rude about it. It’s rare, I’m not surprised people are surprised. Meanwhile in the states I have felt unsafe, and fear for the safety of my ethnically Slav child (who for the record is adopted) just for being a foreigner.

Russia is a great country, I've been there twice for a month each time and travelled to different areas. The most I experienced was the occasional sideways stare or second glance. But you can experience that in the UK or US too depending on where you go. Sure, people are supposed to find two unrelated Moldovan who are biracial, born and raised in Eastern Europe, but they aren’t rude about it. It’s rare, I’m not surprised people are surprised. Black people being racist is mostly not included. When you even say the words "black people are racist against white people" you have instantly unintelligent people not knowing the meaning of the word "racist" or "racism" and use those words against it.
