Hi Timea! Oleg here, for the inside Twizzles you would start the Twizzle on the inside edge. Think of it like you would do a 3 turn. When you do the inside 3 turn you enter it on an inside edge. You generate the Twizzle as from the snap you get when you rise in your knee.
Thank u for ur videos. I love them and they r very helpful. U taught me how to twizzle. !!!! I am 62 years old, but in great shape and love to skate. Thanks again, John :) Alexandria , Va
Hi Kseniya and Oleg When you do the twizzles do you use the ball (sweet) of foot when turning/spinning? Also What is the main difference between twizzles and double three turns? for example do you use the heel or flat of the blade between turns? I am starting my skate uk grade 8 (final grade with step sequence there are 5 elements, which include inside twizzles and continuous three turns round a circle (3 in a row). I have heard of double three turns but not triple three turns or it does it mean something different ? Rae-Marion (female 68 years of age, better late than never)
rae marion Chandler Hi Rae, when you do the double 3 turn, you turn on the sweet spot when turning from forward to backward and you turn on the heel when turning from backward to forward. Twizzles are similar but the turns happen about an inch from the sweet spot and from the heel. That is, the Twizzle turns happen faster and thus are a bit closer to the center of the blade. Also, the 3 turns are checked turns in that you stop your rotation between turns. Twizzles are not checked turns, you keep rotating until you exit (then you check your exit). Hope this helps! We are currently making a video explaining the Rocker Foxtrot, it will be up soon!
thanks so much , you have answered my question. I had my first grade 8 group lesson today and nancy the coach did mention about turning nearer the heel with inside twizzles which is what we are doing. the first part is ok but turning back again I found more difficult. There are 5 elements to this grade. 1. continuous inside three turns round a circle (3 in a row) left/right 2 continuous outside turns round a circle (3 in a row) Left/Right 4 1 foot spin 5 Forward inside single Twizzle step sequence including twizzles and mohawks toe steps etc.. (she showed us a sequence of Mohawk which included a back crossover and then all done again in reverse, but I am a little confused about this at the moment.). Do you have any other tips or advice . thank you www.iceskating.org.uk/index.cfm/learn-to-skate/skate-uk/skate-uk-basic-skills-programme/
Hi Kseniya and Oleg! I'm not sure about the very beginning of the rotation, do you start it on the left/right inside edge? Or are you on both inside and outside edge at the preparation position?
