I love how Dodie doesn't show her face in this video because it really makes you focus on the words and the message she's trying to say. "Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King, Jr." A quote we must all hold dear to our hearts at such a time.
I'm so glad that 1.8k of you feel the same way as me...we must stick together and radiate enough love to kill all the darkness and hatred in the world 🌍❤️
Grace Platt I watch a lot of RUclipsrs, but Dodie's fan base is BY FAR the kindest and most supportive group of people I've ever seen. You're all so amazing. ❤️
Lel I was notified there was a response here that was "it would also be dull", but apparently that's been removed. Either way... Yes, how dull life would be if everyone was a decent human being! That would be horrible! War, tragedy, death, crime, poverty, inequality, and injustice are the spice of life, right?! The world and living would be meaningless if people were thoughtful and pleasant!!! Really, I don't get the logic of that comment. I know it can be debated (and has been in sci-fi media) about what a 'utopia' sort of society would really be like, but I don't even mean thing should be 'perfect' or some false sense of it. Just. People having basic, decent qualities. Eesch. Sorry for this ramble, and again, I'm glad this comments was removed.
KatieM. I am so sorry for the both of you when I heard about the attack I just wanted to hug them and give them all I could I don't even live that far from Manchester and the thought of them just killing innocent teens just..sickens me
I know this was written for the Manchester bombing, but I visit it after every tragedy. Today was supposed to be for spreading love, instead kids were shot dead at school. This is why I stand for stricter gun laws in america, for the families and the lives that were snuffed out too early.
bouquetofllamas Tragedies like this can't keep happening. Its really sad just to be scrolling through the comments to see people saying what tragedy just happened today, for that day! Why were there so many in such little time?! This was only 10 months ago but we are here and this is our world now
I don’t even live in America but I get panic attacks if I think an alarm is going off/has gone off because im terrified of school shootings. Almost all my dreams have alarms or school shootings in them and sometimes I’m terrified to go to school. The problems in America are scaring us all.
I highly agree, and I know this is years late, but tragedy in general is a horrible thing, and until the world smartens up about everything, they’ll keep on coming (I know this ruins what I just said, but this was at 777 likes, can’t like now can I?)
I totally understand what you mean about gun laws but look at what happened in Texas. A man with a gun went to a church and started shooting at people and he was dead within seconds, due to another man with a gun. Only two people died that day. If we had no guns, what would happen when someone bad gets one? Could you imagine what would've happened if no one had a gun at that church?
Tears. Gotta keep being open and being loving and spreading kindness and connecting and celebrating all of the good in this world...it's the only way we can counteract the hate, the evil. Love you dods xx
Caelan Alexander They didn't say dodie was the sole purpose of the world being 'kept together' but rather the people _like_ her are the ones that keep the world together. The two things mean different things, smh.
Thank you for this song Dodie. One of my close friends died in the attack and I can't really work out anything. I'm heartbroken. This is a comforting song to hear
I am so so sorry for you, I wish I could make it better, nobody deserves to go through that :( Things will get better again, I promise, we are all here for you ♡♡
As I sat worried for the safety of my friends on Monday night I was truly astounded by the pure acts of kindness presented by the people of Machester. We shall not let terror break us, we shall stand united in memory of those who sadly lost their lives due to another persons monstrous act, fear not, continue to live with passion and love always, to live in fear fuels the hate. Concerts are a place where people should continue to have the time of their lives and feel safe. Nobody should go to a concert and never come home. My heart bleeds for the victims families at this sad time. The way you present feelings through art really hits me Dodie, I love this
Elissa Smith I praise you my friend...... Those words were beautiful...the terrorist attack in Manchester was horrid and awful.....I give my love to all the families who had lost someone so very important.....
Thank you, it's been such a sad week due to the Manchester bombing that took place on Monday. It's amazing to see influential people such as yourself comforting and knowing you care about what happened. You're really helping those who need it
Two years later and mid pandemic this song is still so real and raw. "You can't take away kindness, you can't take away care". The amount of people caring in these times is so reassuring that there is hope for humanity.
This is beautiful Dorothy Clark, thank you. It is so heart breaking, as we all know, but people coming together is the best we can do, and one day we'll learn that it shouldn't take pain and suffering for us all the get along. I'm sending all my love to those who've suffered from the recent event in Manchester ❤️
Lucy Watson thank you, my best friend was friends with Georgina Callander and it's awful to see how upset she is. It's weird as everyone around here has been affected by it despite not being there. I think it's because of the fact it was so close to home and that it could literally have been any of us.
Not sure if anyone has posted but chords are C Gm Dm F. Use Fm for the middle two endings though, where she goes high at the end of the phrase. Thank you for this tribute, prayers to all affected
I'm so sorry to hear about your fan Gina. It's horrible how the world is nowadays. It's like even your house is safe anymore. You have helped so much with everything in life at the moment and I want to thank you. We all love you Dodie. ❤️❤️❤️
There's something about Dodie that is so human and I feel like that makes her so lovable and helps us feel for her when she's upset, it's so real and devastating
I needed this today! Our city's broken right now, but we're strong and resilient! It's completely unacceptable that so many innocent lives were taken on Monday, and it's shaken me up completely. It's hard to believe that a world which has people like Dodie in it also has people who are willing to kill others in it! We love you Dodie❤️🙌🏻
Oh my gosh. I agree on such a level. Manchester that I remember as happy and united is broken. I just want to say thank you to all supporting our city. We need as much as we can. We are a team now. We can get through this time. xx
Kiritsugu Emiya there was a terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande concert on Monday where children and adults were killed and injured. It's just diabolical! I was in Greece with my boyfriend at the time and we came home the next day to find everyone completely broken and upset! It's devastating that young lives were taken 😭😭😭
this song leaves me with chills. every time i hear it. i'm a person who sings along with every song, but i can't bring myself to sing along here. this song speaks volumes. i don't understand how someone could hurt others, but this is the way to combat against the terror and pain in the world. dodie, thank you for this. everything you do means so much to me. i sang sick of losing soulmates at my talent show. people cried. thank you for this.
my best friend's friend died in the attack and she's heartbroken, I'm trying my best but I don't know how to help her. Thank you for this dodie xx (edit - thanku for all the amazing replies)
Kate Thomson I'm so sorry! I know how you feel, my friends close friend died too and I don't know what to say that will make it better. even though I didn't know her, she was my age and liked the things I did, somehow I'm mourning someone I didn't know personally:(
thank you. you are NOT self obsessed and this song was perfect in describing things that have been going on all around me this week. i've been felling so shitty all week and had a good cry to this and i truly feel better, so thank you for being you and for being so amazing at a time like this xxxx We (manchester) will get through this and be stronger than ever, but it's amazing seeing the support from everyone, so thank you. just fucking thank you xxxxx
What happened was horrible. Imagine all those kids who experience these bombs every day, these kids who are afraid to leave the house because they might ger shot, these kids who cant sleep because of all the gunshots and bomb sounds. these kids who are looking for their parents knowing deep inside that they're not here anymore. The parenrs who are looking for their children hoping they're still alive. Women AND men who are killing themselves because theyd rather die than get raped in all this chaos. It's happening now. It's happening in those places everyday. This was tragic. Concerts are supposed to be fun, they're not supposed to make you feel afraid and unsafe. 22 people have lost their lives. 10000 people lose their lives at war every day in Syria and other countries. It's horrible. It needs to stop. It's not only happening here, it's happening there too.
uniivrse this is great because people need to realize that this is everyday life for some people and that way you said it wasn't attacking or judging at all and i just think you area really right
Lizzie Jane im so sorry you had to be there for that. Im from canada, and i cant even grasp what people who are near there are feeling, let alone those who attended the concert. I wish you the best💕
Thankyou all. Manchester is one huge community and that is showing now more than ever. Your love is helping us all through it so thankyou!! Thoughts and prayers to all who have lost someone to this horrific act xx
this is beautiful. i was with my mum and older brother and we all got lost bit thankfully found again. things like this mean the world to me thank you so much. may those who suffered worse be blessed with love xx
I feel so connected with the world right now, just sitting in my bedroom, never having been to machester, but still feeling with all of you. I can only repeat what dodie said, I have no words, but we can keep loving, I promise. I just now realize what the Internet can make possible, and I'm so glad it exists, because I feel like this entire world is getting closer together in moments like this one... and what else do we have, expect for this world? Just a tiny piece of dirt in space, and yet so beautiful.
so i just got out of a mental hospital for suicidal tendencies. i heard about the attack as i got out and saw you also posted a video and can i say. dodie, you are one of few good people left and i love that you use your popularity to talk and sing about things that matter. we need more people like you. thank you dodie.
karen ruiz I hope you're doing well and that you'll recover soon :) I know it's hard and I've been there before and the things I went through might not be severe as yours but I hope you're okay
karen ruiz I sincerely hope you are alright! I know I'm late, but I want you to know that a random stranger on the internet loves you and wishes you all the best :)
thank you for this. i needed something to cheer me up right now, with everything going on, and your voice has always calmed down. thank you for everything, dodie.
If this was about the Manchester attack, I feel everything, as I was there. All I keep thinking is how could someone do such a thing? All I do is cry, I find it difficult to leave the house now, and I just keep thinking if this is how it has affected me, and I was safe and uninjured, how has it affected many people's families, and friends and other loved ones. I can't believe that someone could have done such a thing, at such an innocent event. Thank you Dodie, for addressing this, and for doing it in such a sweet manner. You're my idol, stay strong.
Alisha Hastings it's only natural to have survivors guilt. The best way to get through this is to research up on who the victims were, and honour their lives in any way you can. It's okay to feel as though it's unfair that you lived and they didn't. If you ever need to speak to somebody, I'm always here for anybody who needs it.
I am so sorry to those who have lost friends and family because of this disgusting act. I am deeply hurt by the innocent taken too soon. I am a Muslim young woman and just like the majority of the 1.6 billion Muslims on this planet, I condemn what happened in Manchester. We must stand together and not be filled with hatred. Thank you so much for this video, I hope it brings peace to those affected. xxx
I have no words, No words that can heal, All that is broken, Or for what they feel, No, I have nothing, For this sort of pain, But we can keep loving, We will love in their name, And though some are broken, We will not be scared, You can't take away kindness, You can't take away care, But I have no words, That can help with the pain, My heart's with the grieving, Because what could I say From Manchester, thank you❤
It's been a really painful week. Even if you have nothing to say to make it better it's nice knowing people care and everyone needs the comfort right now, so thanks dodie, you're doing more than you think❤️
This has hit so close to home, a place I spent my childhood in and continue to do now, in a venue i love. I don't think i can walk into Manchester Arena again without being overcome by great sadness but i'll never be scared to walk through the streets of my favourite city. Thank you for this Dodie, even though it made me cry it was lovely and your words will mean a lot to so many.
Already at the very beginning I knew it is about what happened in Manchester. The thought that Hedy could have been at that concert takes all the words away from her and she is incredibly sorry for those who died or got affected because of that guy who blew himself up. That is how I understand her feelings in this song.
Kiya Nichelle she's talking about how much Hedy means to Dodie specifically. Everyone is hurt but to have a family member be there would be just awful.
when i saw this on my subscriptions, i instantly said, "please do not be about the attacks." bc i'm in the office with people and bosses and i might just breakdown bc fuck knows how affected i am by the recent happenings. but dodie this is so beautiful i love u thank u and my heart goes to all the victims of every attacks in this world
Thank you. From the bottom of my heart I thank you. What happened was traumatic and absolutely disgusting, for someone to take away 22 people/children's lives! As a Mancunian myself, I hope we can all stand together and stay strong. Like you, I have no words. I am in utter shock but we need to stay positive and stay together, as a nation. Because this is Manchester. This is England, this is the UK! And no one will ever get away with taking lives without a punishment from us. Our country is strong. Manchester is strong. We brought women's rights, computers, great talents and music. So thank you, once again.
This inspired me so much, and I'm not even from the UK ❤️ Lots of love and support has been going around here in the US as well, so keep in mind that we're here for you guys. At least I am. I can't speak for millions of Americans, but almost everybody here cares ❤️ Stay strong, Manchester
I'm somewhere else Where is this even coming from!?? Why would the U.S. bomb a pop concert in Manchester, fer Christ sake!??? Dumbest damn comment....Ever!!
Briana Allbright thank you so much and I really appreciate you being with us. We can all stand strong together and defeat them because we are positive, they aren't.
I'm somewhere else well if America bombed Manchester it would be hard for me to say what would happen. But the people who bombed us are truly evil, America aren't and plus we are allies (well at least I hope so) so being friends shows that we can stick together and support each other
Dodie, you beautiful human being, this awful world does not deserve any piece of you. I heard what you and Luke did with the fundraiser, and strangely it was that that made me cry the first time. And I haven't stopped since. Remember everybody, the only way they can win is if we let them split apart our communities. Support those affected, and respect your fellow supporters. We win this battle, not with violence, but with love and support and respect for each other. They will not win. They will never win. We stand united, and that's exactly what they don't want. Stay strong, everybody, and if you've been affected in any way by this terrible event, don't hesitate to speak to me in any way I have available. I've lost too many people, I know how to deal with grief, and if you're struggling to cope I can share my own ways of coping.
i always watch this video when tragedy strikes in my country because it speaks the words i cannot form due to utter shock and heartbreak. and you know whats really sad? the fact that i have come back to this video *4 times* since it has been posted. Orlando. Las Vegas. Texas Church. Parkland Florida. im here to remember the thousands of innocent people who have senselessly lost their lives to gun violence.
this is beautiful. to make something incredible of something so tragic is truly amazing. it's so awful what has ever happened and what happened in manchester but kind souls like you help everyone remember those we lost and those who survived. thank you ever so much dodie.
im not sure if this is about manchester, but i really hope everyone hurting right now finds someone to confide in. no one should feel alone after such a traumatic experience. please, if you have been affected and you haven't already, seek help. you and your problems matter a lot more than you know.
For some reason this song made me realise that this isn't all some twisted horrid dream..this is real. This is real death. This is real people. This is real terror.. But you know what? I won't be afraid. Love is stronger than hate and we can all push through this together, I want everybody reading this to still go to concerts, still go to that event, don't be afraid to go to clubs and ride the tube. Islamic extremists want us to live in fear and we won't let them get what they want, I love each and everyone of you people❤️ I pray for Manchester,Paris,Stockholm and every other place that has been targeted by extremists. I could write all this but at the end of the day there still are no words to describe they way this all makes me feel inside.
Casey Galloway, "Islamic"? This has nothing to do with religion and the extremists aren't Muslim. Islam is a religion of peace and kindness. Just thought you ought to know. No hate. :)
Maisa k that's why I said Islamic extremists, not all muslims are a part of Isis and I know that :) sorry for the confusion and I hope I cleared it up a bit :)
About a movie I love how dodie can make something so beautiful out of such an awful event. About a movie, I just discovered your channel and it is also really beautiful, you are my aesthetic ;) xx
About a movie Thank you, very kind words. My sentiments exactly. I knew three people that went there... Only one came back unharmed (one died and one went into intensive care). Deepest of sympathies to anyone effected, you have our thoughts and prayers. Stay strong, stay amazing.
a year on and the pain is still felt. thank you for reminding us you can’t take away kindness, or take away care. if you know someone who was affected, take today to tell them how much you love and support them.
This is very beautiful and extremely true. There really is no single word in the entire dictionary that can describe the terrible attacks which have happened, not only in Manchester, but the entire world too. My hearts go out to those who have lost a beloved one on the 22nd just to enjoy some music.
dodie is truly an artist not just because she sings and plays music but because every detail and attribute of it is meaningful. she has an amazing gift for doing that. i love analysing art of any kind and dodie makes it so rewarding to do so. what i love the most about this song is that to me, the title is very important. not only can we understand that feeling of being lost for words at a time like this, but the camera position on her lips the whole time and the pace of the song make us focus on every word she does say. maybe i'm going to deep with this, but i think it says a lot about how we rely on each other to build ourselves up in unity. after the line "we can keep loving", i wondered what the next line would be. then "we will love in their name" made me cry. dodie's music really is important.
Thank you Dodie. This song puts my thoughts into words. I know so many people who went to this concert and were lucky to make it out. One broke her leg, but thankfully she is otherwise fine. It makes me sick to think of the people in the world who are willing to kill innocent children at an event that was meant to be one of the happiest of their lives. Sending my love from the bottom of my heart to every single person who was affected. Stay safe, stay strong, stay hopeful.
this had me in tears. a few of my internet friends would've been close to one of the victims and spoke to her daily. They know I'm there for them I just don't know how to comfort them with words, it's all such a mess. I didn't know the victim personally but she was my age and in a lot of the fandoms I'm in, my heart feels so heavy. am I crazy for mourning someone I didn't know personally? we've lost a part of us tragically and I feel that everyday since the attack, everything feels like it's in slow motion.
Unfortunately the victims can not be reduced to only 5 places. The world has been suffering many losses which are not always thought of as much as they should be. But as you said, stay strong as only strength, boldness and love will make it better.
BoredwithRUclips_ Thank you for mentioning Syria... it seems that people have completely forgotten about it these days. And my heart goes out to the victims of the Manchester attack, that's really heartbreaking 💔
I feel it's a song about all the attacks. As a Belgian, this song goes straight true my heart. It's been a year and 2 months, but it will never be forgotten.
I was supposed to see Ari Thursday, unfortunately she has cancelled the show but I completely support her decision. I have been non-stop crying ever since I saw the news. These innocent children were targeted. A concert is a place of love and freedom and some piece of shit destroyed it. It's heartbreaking and I cannot imagine how Ari and the families of the victims are feeling. It's going to take an immense amount of time for people to even begin to heal from this. My heart just goes out to the whole fandom and everyone affected. Thank-you for making such a beautiful song xx
Chatty Hattie I'm glad that you understand that she canceled. I saw that some people were complaining that "she wasn't hurt so she could keep playing her shows" and that absolutely crazy and bullshit.
Even if she wasn't hurt physically, she probably needs to recover mentally. Having to go through that sort of tragedy takes a real toll on a person, and everyone needs to respect that.
this video reflects how i am feeling right now after the manchester bombing so i just want to thank you dodie for this and all my condolences go to those who have lost someone recently.
my country (the philippines) was said to be under a rebelious group last night and a part of my country is under martial law. I'm genuinly scared, the government has said that they wont be going out of that part of my country, but who knows. I just want everyone spread love, it's not that hard. Stay safe everyone 💖 (I don't mean to offend anyone by this comment.)
Please can someone understand that the reason why these bad people exist are because of Islam-THE RELGION NOT THE PEOPLE--there are many good muslims and I certainly don't hate any Muslim but you can't say this isn't the fault of SOME of the more toxic ideologies Islam promotes--ONCE AGAIN IT IS NOT ALL MUSLIMS but we as a society and as people who wish to uphold western values, that Islam can oppose, should all talk about the wrong things in Islam-Muslims who want to reform the religion and make it better are being silenced-if this continues the terror will only continue. Please, all I ask of everyone is that they actually do their research-you'll find that Islam is not the most peaceful but we can fix it if we understand that there is a problem with it!!!
i know this about the attack in Manchester. But this was posted around the time i lost my best friend to suicide, and it reminded me a lot of him. Fly high Asher.
+Jos You have a point, but I think you calling out "the regressive left" is a little hypocritical. The (progressive, by your logic?) right would like to escalate military action in the Middle East, and this would certainly not help the problem by any means.
Tero Bro terrorism can one day be a thing of the past, but wars, fights and unjust suffering just won't. bad things will continue to happen, it's just nature. all we can do is be good, kind people and try to influence others with this.
i have no words, and even if i did, they would not be enough. the city i love, the city i have always been proud to call my home, has been shook by an act so abhorrent and awful that many of us simply cannot comprehend it. i got a text last night from a friend abroad asking if i was safe in manchester. in a country such ours you do not expect to receive messages such as this, that seems to be reserved for the war zones you see on the news, a world so distant... but yet terror is not reserved for war zones. it really has shook our vibrant and beautiful city to the core. but the spirit shown by those out in force to help in anyway they can just reinforces our strength. we will not let terror win. we stand together. ❤️
I know this isn't the original intention of this song, but it's being a comfort to me right now. I lost my mum yesterday and since then I've just felt, well, I can't explain it. But this song feels like a similar feeling, and it's comforting. Thank you dodie, you didn't mean for this to be an outcome, but thank you anyway
My crush is like Dodie, She's super talented She wears yellow all the time She's so strong and happy and so inspiring She plays the ukele super well She's so pretty and is adored by so many. Okay she is Dodie. Also I do respect this song. It is very touching a very good job Dodie. RIP to all those who lost their lives. You shall be remembered.
Phandom Life. agreeing with jay-r b..... dodie is amazing and this song/video is great but the comment is just not true one simple famous example: charlie's "Our Brother" 2-part short film.
I got really angry, almost like a toddler would, because I couldn't express anything I felt after it happened. I couldn't cope because I couldn't form concrete thoughts. The only think I kept thinking was 'I just don't know'. This put into words how I am feeling and now I'm not so angry anymore. I actually breathed a sigh of relief after hearing this. Thank you
This randomly came into my head today as I was pondering what I am feeling in this isolating time. It makes me feel seen and helps me to see and feel connected with the world right now. Always, thank you
It's so lovely that you've done this dodie. I'm sorry to everybody that was affected from the tragic event recently. .. and anyways, lots of love to everybody who need it right now.
this hit me so hard. dodie always knows how to communicate her feelings in the most powerful way. this was so beautiful, and perfectly summed everything we are all feeling.
This is wonderful,, "We will love in their name," I don't know if I'm right but this is spot on, living in manc at the moment it's incredible how many people have come together and are supporting each other in the aftermath, Seeing how many people were bringing in food and drinks for the staff and everyone else in the hospital (broke my toe the following day..), there were literally truckloads of things brought to the hospital in the short time I was there it was so lovley to see.
I personally knew people who went to that concert and I'm so happy and grateful that they got out alive. RIP to all the beautiful souls that lost their lives in such a tragic way 😞
Gosh this is exactly what I feel. I live around the world from Manchester in Hawaii and I feel so far away and I would love to really help even though I'm not directly affected by this. I need to remember to spread kindness and support to everyone I come into contact with because that's all I really can do
I love how Dodie doesn't show her face in this video because it really makes you focus on the words and the message she's trying to say.
"Darkness cannot drive out darkness; only light can do that. Hate cannot drive out hate; only love can do that. Martin Luther King, Jr."
A quote we must all hold dear to our hearts at such a time.
BabyOpal I love this. thank you. :)
BabyOpal I actually am planning on having this tattooed on myself on my 18th in 6 months
BabyOpal ty so much for this
this is so beautiful, thank you
I'm so glad that 1.8k of you feel the same way as me...we must stick together and radiate enough love to kill all the darkness and hatred in the world 🌍❤️
If only people were like everyone in this comment section- the world would be such a better place.
if only, if only.
Grace Platt I watch a lot of RUclipsrs, but Dodie's fan base is BY FAR the kindest and most supportive group of people I've ever seen. You're all so amazing. ❤️
Agreed.
DFTBA - Nerdfighteria stands with the Dodie fans too. Wish both groups could unite worldwide.

lost one of my best friends to that attack. rip Georgie. I loved you so much
CinderEllie Pie I was there and I am so sorry 😞🙏🏼 RIP.

CinderEllie Pie I'm so sorry for your loss. even though I wasn't there and am in Canada I still feel effected by it. I am truly sorry for your loss.
I am so sorry for your loss. Rip. Stay strong, I know you can do it xxx
i just want to give everyone that was there and there family's a hug and tell them it's going to be okay
I know this was written for the Manchester bombing, but I visit it after every tragedy. Today was supposed to be for spreading love, instead kids were shot dead at school. This is why I stand for stricter gun laws in america, for the families and the lives that were snuffed out too early.

we need gun control

I totally understand what you mean about gun laws but look at what happened in Texas. A man with a gun went to a church and started shooting at people and he was dead within seconds, due to another man with a gun. Only two people died that day. If we had no guns, what would happen when someone bad gets one? Could you imagine what would've happened if no one had a gun at that church?
Holy shit..
Her voice is breathtaking
Miss Mislukt that's why I've been subscribed for so long. Her voice is outstanding
Miss Mislukt i guess u could say. u have no words
Emma Larson ogm your the worst i love you
"But we can keep loving
We will love in their name"
Tears started, such a beautiful song x
RIP to those killed in Manchester, and lots of love to those affected ❤️❤️❤️
Things WILL get better, everything has an end ❤️❤️
From Manchester, knew a lot of people at the concert, so scary to think about that happening on your doorstep

I came back for vienna shooting. In uncertainty, this is very soothing
There hasn't been a song more true than this one. Exactly how I feel 😔
Tears. Gotta keep being open and being loving and spreading kindness and connecting and celebrating all of the good in this world...it's the only way we can counteract the hate, the evil. Love you dods xx
Ily Melanie 💙 and what you and Dodie said is so true
Hello Fellow Melanie
Melanie Murphy n
it's people like dodie that will one day keep the world together.
preach
ukelleyle yes
ukelleyle she has a fanbase, I wouldn't really call that keeping the world together
Caelan Alexander They didn't say dodie was the sole purpose of the world being 'kept together' but rather the people _like_ her are the ones that keep the world together. The two things mean different things, smh.
it's not necessarily her fanbase, but more the love, support, and affection towards all humans that dodie puts out (in response to caelan)
Thank you for this song Dodie. One of my close friends died in the attack and I can't really work out anything. I'm heartbroken. This is a comforting song to hear
I am so so sorry for you, I wish I could make it better, nobody deserves to go through that :( Things will get better again, I promise, we are all here for you ♡♡
wow sorry to hear that...hope the pain heals and you stay strong...you are right...this is a great song
Sam Willis My deepest condelences to you *hugs* Bless your friend. Im so sorry
I'm sorry
Sam Willis oh my god. that’s awful. I hope you’re OK. stay strong 💗
"My heart's with the grieving...because what could I say."
Those are some powerful relatable words dodie...thank you.

Moll
Molly York what words? there is no words
Khanaja Scott Productions Is that supposed to be a joke
Savanna Silva thankyou very much, thankfully my friends are safe but it could so easily have been them, I'm counting my blessings
I'm sending all my love to those who've suffered from the recent event in Manchester ❤️
profile pic/username 👌
Is it thoughhh dodie* lol sorry it was probably autocorrect tho
PhilsEyelash _ her real name is dorothy, dodie is a nickname..she does a q+a on it!!!!
PhilsEyelash _ I believe that her birth name is Dorothy haha
PhilsEyelash _ no, dodie's full name is Dorothy Miranda Clark
I didn't realize how much pain I was holding in until I watching this and burst into tears
Kayla Marie I know, but there are always people who care, people like dodie
Kayla Marie same
same
Aww...I sympathize with you and everyone who did the same...take care
What a beautiful song and I feel so sorry for those affected by the attack in Manchester 💕
im from manchester and thank you for your thoughts xxx
Lucy Watson thank you xx -from Manchester
Lucy Watson thank you, my best friend was friends with Georgina Callander and it's awful to see how upset she is. It's weird as everyone around here has been affected by it despite not being there. I think it's because of the fact it was so close to home and that it could literally have been any of us.
Not sure if anyone has posted but chords are C Gm Dm F. Use Fm for the middle two endings though, where she goes high at the end of the phrase. Thank you for this tribute, prayers to all affected
Thank you for the chords❤️ Sending all my love and prayers to those affected❤️❤️❤️
THANK YOU DEVIN
Devin O'Donnell THANK YOU :))
I'm so sorry to hear about your fan Gina. It's horrible how the world is nowadays. It's like even your house is safe anymore. You have helped so much with everything in life at the moment and I want to thank you. We all love you Dodie. ❤️❤️❤️
Lauren White Wait, what happened?
Madison H a terrorist attack occurred in manchester at an ariana grande concert. 22 people died, one of them being someone dodie knew (i think)
One of her fans was killed in the attack in Manchester :(
:(
I don't want to be disrespectful but I thought her name was Gina at least that's what I saw on twitter
There's something about Dodie that is so human and I feel like that makes her so lovable and helps us feel for her when she's upset, it's so real and devastating
Couldn't have said it better myself. Absolutely love how she's not afraid to be so real in front of a camera. And her genuineness certainly shows.
All-in-JUAN thanks
I needed this today! Our city's broken right now, but we're strong and resilient! It's completely unacceptable that so many innocent lives were taken on Monday, and it's shaken me up completely. It's hard to believe that a world which has people like Dodie in it also has people who are willing to kill others in it! We love you Dodie❤️🙌🏻
Oh my gosh. I agree on such a level. Manchester that I remember as happy and united is broken. I just want to say thank you to all supporting our city. We need as much as we can. We are a team now. We can get through this time. xx
Special Kay what happened
Kiritsugu Emiya there was a terrorist attack at the Ariana Grande concert on Monday where children and adults were killed and injured. It's just diabolical! I was in Greece with my boyfriend at the time and we came home the next day to find everyone completely broken and upset! It's devastating that young lives were taken 😭😭😭
schizophrenic chameleon couldn't have put it better myself xx
this song leaves me with chills. every time i hear it. i'm a person who sings along with every song, but i can't bring myself to sing along here. this song speaks volumes. i don't understand how someone could hurt others, but this is the way to combat against the terror and pain in the world. dodie, thank you for this. everything you do means so much to me. i sang sick of losing soulmates at my talent show. people cried. thank you for this.
my best friend's friend died in the attack and she's heartbroken, I'm trying my best but I don't know how to help her. Thank you for this dodie xx
(edit - thanku for all the amazing replies)
I'm so sorry, all y'all stay strong because you are. We all need each other at times like these, and we're all here for you and your friends
Kate Thomson I'm so sorry! I know how you feel, my friends close friend died too and I don't know what to say that will make it better. even though I didn't know her, she was my age and liked the things I did, somehow I'm mourning someone I didn't know personally:(
I'm so sorry to both of you. ❤️
That's so sad, I hope you help each other make it through.
+I'm somewhere else Have some respect for the people who lost their lives and keep your fucking conspiracy theories out of the conversation please.
thank you. you are NOT self obsessed and this song was perfect in describing things that have been going on all around me this week. i've been felling so shitty all week and had a good cry to this and i truly feel better, so thank you for being you and for being so amazing at a time like this xxxx We (manchester) will get through this and be stronger than ever, but it's amazing seeing the support from everyone, so thank you. just fucking thank you xxxxx
Your words do help. Any amount of love helps the world, even just a little bit
It's not only happening here, it's happening there too.
uniivrse this is great because people need to realize that this is everyday life for some people and that way you said it wasn't attacking or judging at all and i just think you area really right
uniivrse *are
What a sweet gesture to such a horrible event. Dodie is such a loving person❤
As someone who was there all I can say to this is Thank You.xx
Lizzie Jane im so sorry you had to be there for that. Im from canada, and i cant even grasp what people who are near there are feeling, let alone those who attended the concert. I wish you the best💕
I'm so sorry that you had to be there at such a terrible time. I'm glad you're safe❤️
Lizzie Jane Very glad you are ok. Much love from across the world
Thankyou all. Manchester is one huge community and that is showing now more than ever. Your love is helping us all through it so thankyou!! Thoughts and prayers to all who have lost someone to this horrific act xx
Lizzie Jane nice to know that you're ok. Sending love from Italy.
this is beautiful. i was with my mum and older brother and we all got lost bit thankfully found again. things like this mean the world to me thank you so much. may those who suffered worse be blessed with love xx
I'm so sorry you had to be there, at such an awful time. Thank god you're safe.
Cute Sparkles || I'm so happy you found your family and made it out of there :)
I'm sorry that you had to be there, but I'm glad that you and your family are safe❤️
AMEN
Baguette Gott I feel very similar apart from unlike you I live in Manchester xx
You have a voice that can heal ❤.
Keevanski she has a voice and lyrics that can make people ball their eyes out.
I felt this was about the Manchester attacks and if it is then this sums up my feelings ❤

Molly GREAT NAME WELL SPELT
so i just got out of a mental hospital for suicidal tendencies. i heard about the attack as i got out and saw you also posted a video and can i say. dodie, you are one of few good people left and i love that you use your popularity to talk and sing about things that matter. we need more people like you. thank you dodie.
karen ruiz I hope you're doing well and that you'll recover soon :) I know it's hard and I've been there before and the things I went through might not be severe as yours but I hope you're okay
karen ruiz I sincerely hope you are alright!
Alisha Hastings I'm sorry. I can't begin to imagine how you feel. Stay Safe❤️
Bryony The Overthinking Pigeon Thankyou
SaraTheSpaceKiddett Thankyou
I'm so sorry. This attack was horrid. My heart is with you and all the others affected or killed.
*All of my love goes out to the families that have lost someone close to them...What a tragedy 😔*
Thank you so much for this video, I hope it brings peace to those affected. xxx
I'm praying for your safety, and that no one treats you harshly based on your religion after the recent events. Sending love xx
Maytha Hussein that's so lovely. thank you, stay safe. :)
Maytha Hussein much love to you, remember there are many who will stand with you xxx
Maytha Hussein I'm also a young Muslim woman. Stay strong, and be careful. xxx
Maytha Hussein
All prays to Manchester
thank you.. from manchester 💔
Shadowdow same x pretty messed up here but we WILL get through it xx
I have no words,
No words that can heal,
All that is broken,
Or for what they feel,
No, I have nothing,
For this sort of pain,
But we can keep loving,
We will love in their name,
And though some are broken,
We will not be scared,
You can't take away kindness,
You can't take away care,
But I have no words,
That can help with the pain,
My heart's with the grieving,
Because what could I say
From Manchester, thank you❤
The lyrics are in the description.
you stole my reply.
O
It's been a really painful week. Even if you have nothing to say to make it better it's nice knowing people care and everyone needs the comfort right now, so thanks dodie, you're doing more than you think❤️
Becca T IS YOUR PROFILE PICTURE NOORA!!!
Jessica Taylor yes I love her 😍
Becca T Noora is my queen
Hedy isn't any more important than anyone else just because she happens to be on RUclips.
I think Violin Girl was talking about what Hedy means to Dodie specifically? Not sure but that's how I understood it.
Kiya Nichelle hedy is dodie's sister
Kiya Nichelle she's talking about how much Hedy means to Dodie specifically. Everyone is hurt but to have a family member be there would be just awful.
when i saw this on my subscriptions, i instantly said, "please do not be about the attacks." bc i'm in the office with people and bosses and i might just breakdown bc fuck knows how affected i am by the recent happenings. but dodie this is so beautiful i love u thank u and my heart goes to all the victims of every attacks in this world
anj b i was sitting in my study hall hour in school and i saw this and i though the same thing and i nearly broke down crying
Dodie, you're such a beautiful human and you deserve the best things in life, thank you for making my day with your presence
p.s i have no words for how lovely this is
I come back to this song whenever the world is a terrible place, and I've sadly been listening to this song quite a lot recently
Dumbest damn comment....Ever!!
squach623 !!!!! The us didn't bomb Manchester. But who ever did, we need to stay strong
Briana Allbright thank you so much and I really appreciate you being with us. We can all stand strong together and defeat them because we are positive, they aren't.
I'm somewhere else well if America bombed Manchester it would be hard for me to say what would happen. But the people who bombed us are truly evil, America aren't and plus we are allies (well at least I hope so) so being friends shows that we can stick together and support each other
No words, but an endless amount of love from around the world 🌎💙
Dodie, you beautiful human being, this awful world does not deserve any piece of you.
Just to add, if anybody does need to talk, feel free to add my snapchat so we can talk: bkiddier
Well said
Niamh L
Bryony The Overthinking Pigeon just so you know, most people are good people
i always watch this video when tragedy strikes in my country because it speaks the words i cannot form due to utter shock and heartbreak. and you know whats really sad? the fact that i have come back to this video *4 times* since it has been posted.
Orlando.
Can we please not use tragedy to enable fear mongering and accusation? Please just use this time to show respect for those grieving.
Casey Galloway Love will get us by ❤️❤️
fbroom822, thank you, you've put into words what I've been feeling, you're so much more eloquent. Can I use that?
Casey Galloway, "Islamic"? This has nothing to do with religion and the extremists aren't Muslim. Islam is a religion of peace and kindness. Just thought you ought to know. No hate. :)
Maisa k that's why I said Islamic extremists, not all muslims are a part of Isis and I know that :) sorry for the confusion and I hope I cleared it up a bit :)
This is my aesthetic. Love to you and all those affected by the attack
About a movie Yes! I love this shot, the greyness of it and just the general message behind this.
Baby me yeah she is so incredibly talented!
About a ovie
a year on and the pain is still felt. thank you for reminding us you can’t take away kindness, or take away care. if you know someone who was affected, take today to tell them how much you love and support them.
This is very beautiful and extremely true. There really is no single word in the entire dictionary that can describe the terrible attacks which have happened, not only in Manchester, but the entire world too. My hearts go out to those who have lost a beloved one on the 22nd just to enjoy some music.
the word is hate. and hate must be stopped
dodie is truly an artist not just because she sings and plays music but because every detail and attribute of it is meaningful. she has an amazing gift for doing that. i love analysing art of any kind and dodie makes it so rewarding to do so.
what i love the most about this song is that to me, the title is very important. not only can we understand that feeling of being lost for words at a time like this, but the camera position on her lips the whole time and the pace of the song make us focus on every word she does say. maybe i'm going to deep with this, but i think it says a lot about how we rely on each other to build ourselves up in unity. after the line "we can keep loving", i wondered what the next line would be. then "we will love in their name" made me cry.
dodie's music really is important.
Wish this was on Spotify. Whilst this was written for a tragedy beyond words I simply hear this and cry. It’s beautiful.
I wish I could leave a paragraph of my thoughts, but I have no words
Zaina Soliman was that a pun-
Zaina Soliman i see you on every dodie video and i love it
Zaina Soliman I saw you on Daniel's video and now this I think I'm in love
Tweety Howlter guess what..this is a friendship now
Julia Maroun yay:)
this had me in tears. a few of my internet friends would've been close to one of the victims and spoke to her daily. They know I'm there for them I just don't know how to comfort them with words, it's all such a mess. I didn't know the victim personally but she was my age and in a lot of the fandoms I'm in, my heart feels so heavy. am I crazy for mourning someone I didn't know personally? we've lost a part of us tragically and I feel that everyday since the attack, everything feels like it's in slow motion.
marshmalex I feel exactly the same. When we're part of a fandom it's like a family so it still hurts❤️
Dodie, these are the perfect words
i've found you
Hey my names Sadie and last year everyone used to call me shady Sadie :(
P H A N either youre the second person to tell me that or you've told me that before lol
Life After Beth took you long enough I'm everywhere
Shady Sadie wow okay you know i have bad eyes how dare
End this war, before they end us.
Be safe and strong guys :D
This song is really for the victims of Machester, Quiapo, Marawi, Bangkok and Syria.
BoredwithRUclips_ ^^^^^^
Unfortunately the victims can not be reduced to only 5 places. The world has been suffering many losses which are not always thought of as much as they should be. But as you said, stay strong as only strength, boldness and love will make it better.
BoredwithRUclips_ Thank you for mentioning Syria... it seems that people have completely forgotten about it these days. And my heart goes out to the victims of the Manchester attack, that's really heartbreaking 💔
I feel it's a song about all the attacks. As a Belgian, this song goes straight true my heart. It's been a year and 2 months, but it will never be forgotten.
Mankind must put an end to war before war puts an end to mankind. A beautiful saying, and one that is so relevant right now.
Chatty Hattie you have summed everything i have wanted to say about this in a paragraph.
Even if she wasn't hurt physically, she probably needs to recover mentally. Having to go through that sort of tragedy takes a real toll on a person, and everyone needs to respect that.
Abigail Nicole ❤️❤️
i don't have a username I agree
this video reflects how i am feeling right now after the manchester bombing so i just want to thank you dodie for this and all my condolences go to those who have lost someone recently.
This song is something I come back to a lot. For personal tragedy. For global catastrophe. To remind myself that people are there for one another.
Hate will not win. It just won't. Because if it does, what do we have to live for?
Boozin' It would be a disgrace to the names of the innocents that dies if we were to let the hate and fear win.
A gospel choir could elevate this magic.
True YES
True TRUE
True yess
True when could a gospel choir NOT elevate music tho
my country (the philippines) was said to be under a rebelious group last night and a part of my country is under martial law. I'm genuinly scared, the government has said that they wont be going out of that part of my country, but who knows. I just want everyone spread love, it's not that hard. Stay safe everyone 💖 (I don't mean to offend anyone by this comment.)
Jada's Journey Stay Safe. Stay Alive❤️
Jada's Journey It's not the ISIS. It's the Maute, an ISIS supporting group, but still not them.
Please, all I ask of everyone is that they actually do their research-you'll find that Islam is not the most peaceful but we can fix it if we understand that there is a problem with it!!!
pastel howell You have a point.
Leia Organa President Duterte told Putin about the problem and he said it was the ISIS though I know it's the Maute group. Stay safe 💖
i know this about the attack in Manchester. But this was posted around the time i lost my best friend to suicide, and it reminded me a lot of him. Fly high Asher.
My heart is aching over this, I don't understand why this is happening, I hope one day we'd all be safe.
its happening because of the regressive left being too afraid to criticise bad ideas in fear of being called racists
I saw no words and I was guessing it was about the concert. Just me?
KatieM. Me too..
KatieM. I thought that as well
KatieM. Yes It's about Manchester.
KatieM. thought the same thing
KatieM. same
i have no words, and even if i did, they would not be enough. the city i love, the city i have always been proud to call my home, has been shook by an act so abhorrent and awful that many of us simply cannot comprehend it. i got a text last night from a friend abroad asking if i was safe in manchester. in a country such ours you do not expect to receive messages such as this, that seems to be reserved for the war zones you see on the news, a world so distant... but yet terror is not reserved for war zones. it really has shook our vibrant and beautiful city to the core. but the spirit shown by those out in force to help in anyway they can just reinforces our strength. we will not let terror win. we stand together.
My crush is like Dodie,
She's super talented
She wears yellow all the time
She's so strong and happy and so inspiring
She plays the ukele super well
She's so pretty and is adored by so many.
Okay she is Dodie.
Also I do respect this song. It is very touching a very good job Dodie.
RIP to all those who lost their lives. You shall be remembered.

Thank you so very much
I can't properly describe how this song feels or what feelings it gives me. All I can say it's absolutely gorgeous and so pure and exactly true.
Thank you
A beautiful soft song for such a harsh, tragic event.
There is more love than fear in the UK.
Elisa Eliphant thank you
This made me cry. I love you Dodie!
this hit me so hard. dodie always knows how to communicate her feelings in the most powerful way. this was so beautiful, and perfectly summed everything we are all feeling.
This is wonderful,,
"We will love in their name," I don't know if I'm right but this is spot on, living in manc at the moment it's incredible how many people have come together and are supporting each other in the aftermath,
Seeing how many people were bringing in food and drinks for the staff and everyone else in the hospital (broke my toe the following day..), there were literally truckloads of things brought to the hospital in the short time I was there it was so lovley to see.
This is beautiful Dodie ❤
Such a calming voice 💛
BLESS YOUR SOUL DODIE

every time. every time i come back to this i find myself with tears down my face.
Gosh this is exactly what I feel. I live around the world from Manchester in Hawaii and I feel so far away and I would love to really help even though I'm not directly affected by this. I need to remember to spread kindness and support to everyone I come into contact with because that's all I really can do
