    I have been waitin’ since a blue moon. Mama me ordered the starter and made bread years. Mama Heaven 5 years. Just me. I’ll say years before we killed it I guess. We kept in refrigerator. Don’t remember how mama did that. It came with a crock. The starter? Did you just make it. What are the starter ingredients? Do you sell the starter at Home Bakery? With instructions? I see all information here. Answered my question. You make I buy with instructions. Yep we bought it and had success years. I think it spilled is how we lost it, long time. Mama was a successful user. She never messed it up. My precious mama memories. Sowing and Reaping. Praise God. We saw it on Farmer’s Market Bulletin those days. The Shady Pines Homestead. FB Bethany. Talk soon. Thank you Hillbilly Kitchen. Blessings all. ♥️✝️🇺🇸🙏🙏

    I’ve finally after 3 years managed to succeed at sourdough bread. I’ve also found out that this sourdough has solved my gut problems. No more bloating or cramps. Plus it’s so delicious. I’m doing the whole grains doing my own milling which is a whole other game. But it’s fun after the tears😂😂

    I’m about to jump in to the sourdough pool and I’m terrified. I bought a dehydrated starter off Etsy and joined a sourdough group on Facebook. That was my first mistake. That group is so critical of people who are new to this so wish me luck. I wish I lived where there was a class. Thank you for this video.

      I bought a sourdough cook book and just jumped in using that. I LOVE it! I’ve made pancakes, waffles, loaves, banana bread, just looked up how to make sourdough tortillas too.
      It’s so much easier than I thought it would be.
      I started my own starter W 3/8 cup of flour and 1/4 cup distilled water.
      I’ve been doing this for about a month now. Happy to help you out if you want any tips. This video discusses very similar things I’ve been doing but some of their flops they talk about, I’ve avoided w different methods

    Thank you for all you do for us, Becky. I sure do miss my Mom's Sourdough fresh out of the oven with some fresh churned butter. Memories like that make this old man smile. Listening to you takes me back to the early 60's when my Maw Maw, Mom and Aunts would all be in the kitchen fixin' up something wonderful for us young'uns. I can almost smell the big ol' Cat Head biscuits my Maw Maw made for us to smother with Honey or Brown Sugar, or her delicious Apple Crumb Pie. All us young'uns would be fightin' over the first piece, knowing we'd get our mouths burned from the hot filling. Ah, memories... All of them are gone on to their final reward now, but I get a little bit of those days back from you. Thank you and God Bless and keep you and yours!

    Excellent advice. Looking for the shrink before you feed it is a great tip.
    Apparently you can dry and freeze starter, and it lasts for years. Probably a good alternative if you don't use it very often.

    • @joyfulhomemaker8053
      @joyfulhomemaker8053 2 месяца назад

      I worried about this as well. I live in Phoenix but keep my house cold (65-72 degrees). I waited until my house was consistently 70-72 to start.
      I made my own starter about a month ago.
      I have to keep mine in my pantry because it’s a bit warmer in there at night. I went camping last weekend and was able to put her in the fridge then take her out and keep feeding her and she’s happy. You really need the temperature consistency the first month (or I guess 3-4 weeks) and then I think she gets more comfortable/flexible.
      I’ve been doing this a month and have some obstacles I’ll be working thru w her the next few months. I live on the road in the summer and she will be going back and forth between living in the fridge and back in the counter repeatedly to prevent her from getting too warm.
      Happy to discuss if you’re interested! 🙏🏻

    • @joyfulhomemaker8053
      @joyfulhomemaker8053 2 месяца назад

      I didn’t catch what they suggested but I made my own starter and feed it w the same thing. 3/8 cup flour and 1/4 cup of distilled water. Took a week to take. I think the first week I could only make pancakes but they were really good.
      Oh and my method requires a feeding in the morning and again at night.
      I recently went camping and just put her in the fridge. When we got home, I took her out and went back to feeding her like i was before and she is beautifully bubbly and making delicious baked goods.
