  • Made to help a fellow ham out, but perhaps it's useful for others. These antennas are the dogs nuts for portable work, especially on hills and beaches. No tuner required, so a perfect combination for the likes of an IC-705 or FT817.

Brilliant mate. Great video. Hopefully that’s my plan for the next few days! Look forward to a QSO. You have a natural way in front of the camera Nathan.

I agree with Tom. Actually First time I have taken notice of how short the Expedition packs down. And I am afraid I disagree with you, DO get old, the other option is not a good one 🙂

It is a great stick. The short length makes it motorbike friendly too. All we need now is no radials and a 10db gain for every 5 degrees off vertical it's leaning.

I pulled it gently and it came out. Every section came out. Turn and twist did not work.
UPDATE: This is August 2024 which is 2 years after this video was made. I was wrong. I think the new version of the DX Commander Expedition Travel Pole that I got from DX Engineering does not work like described in this video. So, I have a different pole then the person who made this video. The version I have does not use the "pull up and twist" to hold each section. If you bought the "replacement" pole all by itself, you will need to buy the clamp kit for it too. According to support at DX Engineering, this pole was never designed to be used as a standalone pole - it was meant to be used as a replacement part for the DX Commander Expedition Antenna.
If you got the DX Commander Vertical Antenna Replacement Telescoping Masts EXPEDITION POLE Part Number: DXC-EXPEDTN-POLE
You will need: DX Commander EzyClamp Replacement Mast Clamp Kits EXPPOL-CK Part Number: DXC-EXPPOL-CK
I got them from DX Engineering in the USA. Your area of the world may have a different reseller.
