I love that place. I was there in May on a motorcycle holiday, staying on a campsite near Biaritz. I even had a walk around the campsite/aire that you were on and took a note of it for future trips. The pilgrims walk looks tough. Even the first day from St Pied de Port is straight up into the mountains. When you get to Spain you might enjoy Salamanca. A large university city in northern Spain. I only spent one night there in September, but I really liked it, very vibrant. No idea what it is like in January. You can go to Spain and call in at the vet on the way back. Alternatively, they do have vets here in Spain.

Best you look after the dog Spain isn't going anywhere soon, if you end up staying in France you have lots of choice in that area, I love a bit of food from a vending machine, money in food out, no cooking or washing up , lovely 😂😂, another enjoyable vlog keep them coming 👍 0:00

When we had a problem with our dog a few years ago we used an inflatable collar, like a donut, it stilll stops them from biting the wound but he seemed a lot happier with it as they can still see everything around better.

Guys, I'm sure you will, but please keep all receipts and name and address of vets for the dogs treatment, even when not connected to this dreadful injury. Even for worming tablets en route back to UK. I won't name the insurer but we once had to contact each vet we had used in tiny French / Spanish villages, over a number of years, to provide a complete medical history for our dog for an (unconnected with travel) insurance claim in the UK. Hope you have a great trip and the injury heals well.

I walk 7 caminos, not just the Frances, but also in del Norte and others in the mountains of Picos del Europa and the Primitivo. Always emotional for me to see some of this places where I walk. Interesting to see SJPP in the quiet of winter. I was there last May and it was rammed with walkers starting their Camino. I waited in a long, long queue outside that passport office to get my ‘credencial’. Beautiful start to an amazing walk.

Loving your vlogs, we enjoy your walks round various towns etc. Quick question ref the camping cars aires, as I noted you said about getting your chairs out to enjoy the sun. Is it generally ok to spread out outside the van on their sites? Thinking of using them in July but don't want to be confined to the mh if you are parking rather than camping ? Will be our first french trip with the mh, so im probably over thinking it.
Hi Debbie ! ❤️ these are paid aires which have allocated spaces for each van, clearly marked out, it’s totally acceptable to get your tables and chairs out / awning etc as long as you stay within your boundary , some paid aires won’t have the space, but the ones we have been on all have 🙂there are lots of free aires and it’s on these the spaces are tighter and it’s frowned upon if people get tables and chairs out , as inevitably it’ll mean using a second space to do so … some do it and spoil it for others , some free park ups are car parks… hope that helps and thanks so much for watching and commenting, much appreciated xx
I have little Papillons x3 they are small enough for the cat blow up neck pillows which are so much nicer than the cones of shame to wear. I am not sure that they make them for larger dogs though. Thank you for sharing. My Hazel snores all the time too. 🙄

Great vlog 😊. There are so many great towns and villages just like Saint Jean Pied de Pont in the french Pays Basque. One of our favourites, on the coast is Saint Jean de Luz. All the villages around La Rhune ( the mountain) are gorgeous. You can walk up the mountain or take le petit train de la Rhune to the top. It's possible that it doesn't run in the winter months though. The architecture in the Pays Basque is identical everywhere and makes it so special 😊.

Thanks for asking 🙂 we got the adapter kit for the taps in a French Diy store , but I would guess Amazon would definitely have them, I’ll have a look and add a link 👍 ref the card .., do you mean the camping card , you can buy them at the machines or via web and have it delivered , you’ll need credit to get in, but you can add this as you buy it at the machine or online 🙂 if you look up three quarter inch tap adapter hose , this will do it ! .. and Dolly is so much better Thankyou xx 🥰
They say never work with children and animals as they can spoil your plans……NEVER!!!!! they are a part of your family and we do what ever we can to help them. Look what you have seen so far, things that you would have never seen as you would have just driven through. Spain can wait it will still be there. Big hugs for you all xx

Glad you enjoyed Pied du Pont or whatever its name is. Its well worth visiting. Can I just say as a wheelchair user cobbles are crap. We did the lower town along by the river and the bridge and little shops. Any hilly bits forget. As for the rest of your hols. Spain is expecting rain so check the weather for France. If you do come then this may interest you. Los Pueblos mas bonitos de Espana. This translates to The Most Beautiful Villages of Spain. We have done lots and they are really good. The site is in Spanish but it lists the names and has a map so you can see where they are. They are all across Spain. Good luck and take care. And Dolly for goodness sake behave and keep that collar on darling.

I do hope you get to Spain after all that's happened. If you haven't got much time head to Hondarribia just over the french border in Spain. You'll love it it's the Spanish pays Basque, a beautiful old town, beautiful beach and lots of lovely walks. We just spent 4days there and noticed there's a carpark overlooking the beach which is free in winter and there were about 5 motorhomes that were there everyday soo I assume they'd stayed all night. Looked but didn't see any no overnight parking signs. Check out tapas opening hours and restaurant opening hours, different again from France 😂. We had friends round today for Galette de Roi, the person who gets the feve becomes the king then has to choose their Queen for the day. Sometimes this is done under the table 😮, the galette is often accompanied by cider or on special occasions champagne. They're eaten throughout January but I think the first Sunday after Christmas day is the special day. The tradition is all over France and there's the galette frangipane that you had but there's also a galette briochée . Our local Pâtisserie has both. Glad you enjoyed yours 😊

Perhaps you can just go on to Spain and use the vets there. We found the vet in Denia last year really lovely and I’m sure any vet would be able to help, especially if you get a copy of the notes to take with you??
We had thought of this, but the wound was complicated and unfortunately didn’t heal in the top section as expected , which needed further treatment , the vet is amazing but was very firm in a request to see Dolly again , which now we fully appreciate , thanks so much for commenting, we hope to be able to travel tomorrow after another visit 🥰🐩🐩🐾

H i Corrin & Paul, we love your video as always. Sorry to hear about Dolly's setback, hope she heals well now. It was lovely to see you enjoying the Couronne cakes. They always appear in the shops just after Christmas. They are to mark the Epiphany, the time when the 3 kings arrived at the stable to see the baby Jesus, hence the crown. The French children love these . The bread version, which is big, usually has a little ornament in it and the kids compete to see who gets it in their portion. You have to watch the little ones or they can choke on it. The pastry ones like you had are called a gallette and can have either an almond or apple filling. Just for some added information for anyone taking your dogs away, there are vets around us here in Hampshire who offer basic first aid for anyone travelling with a dog, or owning a working dog. Although your awful experience with poor Dolly was way out of what they teach, it’s well worth it for basic first aid. As I think I said before, we have always travelled on boats, and having an extensive first aid kit for ourselves and the dogs has been really important. Less so in a van as you can drive to the vet of course. Wishing you an easier onward journey.

Hi David, we did plan going on into Spain, but the vet was very firm in staying local until stitches out as it was a complicated wound and repair , we are glad we did as the top section hadn’t healed as expected and needed further treatment , all under the same vet / claim … ❤️🥰🐩🐩🐾🐾 Dogs first, Spain second, hopefully be there soon 👍👍❤️ thanks again, and yes triggers broom 😂
TBH your not in a bad area. When Dolly is signed off, head over to San Sebastion. Its one of our favourite places in Spain. We park at the University and walk into the old town. Wonderful food and drink everywhere. A real treat. The whole Basque Region is a joy, so dependent on time etc, the area is your plaything, but it's not hot 😢. Also not sure if you are travelling back via Santander or Bilboa, both interesting places but may not fit in your timetable. Pamplona is doable but tbh not that interesting outside the tourist season. Decisions,decisions!! Have fun anyway

Have you thought about asking the French vet about having the stitches removed once you get to Spain by a Spanish vet. I’ve had to get my dog treated by a Spanish vet in Burgos and couldn’t fault the quality of the treatment and care given.
🥰we had thought about this , but we were asked to stay local due to the complicated wound , luckily we did, it hadn’t repaired itself at the uppermost point, revisit and re staple all part of the payments and insurance , hopefully tomorrow will be better news 🐩🐩🐾🐾🥰

I walk 7 caminos, not just the Frances, but also in del Norte and others in the mountains of Picos del Europa and the Primitivo. Always emotional for me to see some of this places where I walk. Interesting to see SJPP in the quiet of winter. I was there last May and it was rammed with walkers starting their Camino. I waited in a long, long queue outside that passport office to get my ‘credencial’. Beautiful start to an amazing walk.

Loving your vlogs, we enjoy your walks round various towns etc. Quick question ref the camping cars aires, as I noted you said about getting your chairs out to enjoy the sun. Is it generally ok to spread out outside the van on their sites? Thinking of using them in July but don't want to be confined to the mh if you are parking rather than camping ? Will be our first french trip with the mh, so im probably over thinking it.
Hi Debbie ! ❤️ these are paid aires which have allocated spaces for each van, clearly marked out, it’s totally acceptable to get your tables and chairs out / awning etc as long as you stay within your boundary , some paid aires won’t have the space, but the ones we have been on all have 🙂there are lots of free aires and it’s on these the spaces are tighter and it’s frowned upon if people get tables and chairs out , as inevitably it’ll mean using a second space to do so … some do it and spoil it for others , some free park ups are car parks… hope that helps and thanks so much for watching and commenting, much appreciated xx
I have little Papillons x3 they are small enough for the cat blow up neck pillows which are so much nicer than the cones of shame to wear. I am not sure that they make them for larger dogs though. Thank you for sharing. My Hazel snores all the time too. 🙄

Great vlog 😊. There are so many great towns and villages just like Saint Jean Pied de Pont in the french Pays Basque. One of our favourites, on the coast is Saint Jean de Luz. All the villages around La Rhune ( the mountain) are gorgeous. You can walk up the mountain or take le petit train de la Rhune to the top. It's possible that it doesn't run in the winter months though. The architecture in the Pays Basque is identical everywhere and makes it so special 😊.

Thanks for asking 🙂 we got the adapter kit for the taps in a French Diy store , but I would guess Amazon would definitely have them, I’ll have a look and add a link 👍 ref the card .., do you mean the camping card , you can buy them at the machines or via web and have it delivered , you’ll need credit to get in, but you can add this as you buy it at the machine or online 🙂 if you look up three quarter inch tap adapter hose , this will do it ! .. and Dolly is so much better Thankyou xx 🥰
They say never work with children and animals as they can spoil your plans……NEVER!!!!! they are a part of your family and we do what ever we can to help them. Look what you have seen so far, things that you would have never seen as you would have just driven through. Spain can wait it will still be there. Big hugs for you all xx

Glad you enjoyed Pied du Pont or whatever its name is. Its well worth visiting. Can I just say as a wheelchair user cobbles are crap. We did the lower town along by the river and the bridge and little shops. Any hilly bits forget. As for the rest of your hols. Spain is expecting rain so check the weather for France. If you do come then this may interest you. Los Pueblos mas bonitos de Espana. This translates to The Most Beautiful Villages of Spain. We have done lots and they are really good. The site is in Spanish but it lists the names and has a map so you can see where they are. They are all across Spain. Good luck and take care. And Dolly for goodness sake behave and keep that collar on darling.

I do hope you get to Spain after all that's happened. If you haven't got much time head to Hondarribia just over the french border in Spain. You'll love it it's the Spanish pays Basque, a beautiful old town, beautiful beach and lots of lovely walks. We just spent 4days there and noticed there's a carpark overlooking the beach which is free in winter and there were about 5 motorhomes that were there everyday soo I assume they'd stayed all night. Looked but didn't see any no overnight parking signs. Check out tapas opening hours and restaurant opening hours, different again from France 😂. We had friends round today for Galette de Roi, the person who gets the feve becomes the king then has to choose their Queen for the day. Sometimes this is done under the table 😮, the galette is often accompanied by cider or on special occasions champagne. They're eaten throughout January but I think the first Sunday after Christmas day is the special day. The tradition is all over France and there's the galette frangipane that you had but there's also a galette briochée . Our local Pâtisserie has both. Glad you enjoyed yours 😊

Perhaps you can just go on to Spain and use the vets there. We found the vet in Denia last year really lovely and I’m sure any vet would be able to help, especially if you get a copy of the notes to take with you??
We had thought of this, but the wound was complicated and unfortunately didn’t heal in the top section as expected , which needed further treatment , the vet is amazing but was very firm in a request to see Dolly again , which now we fully appreciate , thanks so much for commenting, we hope to be able to travel tomorrow after another visit 🥰🐩🐩🐾

H i Corrin & Paul, we love your video as always. Sorry to hear about Dolly's setback, hope she heals well now. It was lovely to see you enjoying the Couronne cakes. They always appear in the shops just after Christmas. They are to mark the Epiphany, the time when the 3 kings arrived at the stable to see the baby Jesus, hence the crown. The French children love these . The bread version, which is big, usually has a little ornament in it and the kids compete to see who gets it in their portion. You have to watch the little ones or they can choke on it. The pastry ones like you had are called a gallette and can have either an almond or apple filling. Just for some added information for anyone taking your dogs away, there are vets around us here in Hampshire who offer basic first aid for anyone travelling with a dog, or owning a working dog. Although your awful experience with poor Dolly was way out of what they teach, it’s well worth it for basic first aid. As I think I said before, we have always travelled on boats, and having an extensive first aid kit for ourselves and the dogs has been really important. Less so in a van as you can drive to the vet of course. Wishing you an easier onward journey.

Hi David, we did plan going on into Spain, but the vet was very firm in staying local until stitches out as it was a complicated wound and repair , we are glad we did as the top section hadn’t healed as expected and needed further treatment , all under the same vet / claim … ❤️🥰🐩🐩🐾🐾 Dogs first, Spain second, hopefully be there soon 👍👍❤️ thanks again, and yes triggers broom 😂
TBH your not in a bad area. When Dolly is signed off, head over to San Sebastion. Its one of our favourite places in Spain. We park at the University and walk into the old town. Wonderful food and drink everywhere. A real treat. The whole Basque Region is a joy, so dependent on time etc, the area is your plaything, but it's not hot 😢. Also not sure if you are travelling back via Santander or Bilboa, both interesting places but may not fit in your timetable. Pamplona is doable but tbh not that interesting outside the tourist season. Decisions,decisions!! Have fun anyway

Have you thought about asking the French vet about having the stitches removed once you get to Spain by a Spanish vet. I’ve had to get my dog treated by a Spanish vet in Burgos and couldn’t fault the quality of the treatment and care given.
🥰we had thought about this , but we were asked to stay local due to the complicated wound , luckily we did, it hadn’t repaired itself at the uppermost point, revisit and re staple all part of the payments and insurance , hopefully tomorrow will be better news 🐩🐩🐾🐾🥰
