It would be nice to see Autodesk re-work/fix the mirror commands someday just to many issues with it

now I am using Inventor 2022 for more than a week for rather a small project with 800 plus parts, I must say that I won't use it until Autodesk solved the problem of being too slow with every action you do. If 22 stays the same as now it is, Autodesk is going backward instead of forwards.

FYI, do not upgrade to 2022 unless absolutely necessary. Copying with Design Assistant is gone if you have Level of Design in your model. They have replaced Level of Design with Model States with little thought to people who have LOD already implemented. Shrinkwrap has been replaced by a cumbersome Simplify, which is much harder to use. iLogic Copy is absolutely awful. I haven't found anything at all better, and Autodesk doesn't seem to care. It was better when the just tried to fool you with cosmetic updates.

For anyone, i condense it down for you. Only cosmetic changes that helpes no engineer in his day to day workflow, whilst you are still unable to mirror parts in assembly so they stay mirrored.

Ben, you might not get anything out of the updates but you've got to remember that Inventor serves a huge variety of Engineer, each making use of different elements of the software. i.e. Barely anyone uses tolerance modelling, useful though if you're tooling up for electronics manufacture where the machinists margin of error can be half the size of the component you're producing. This year getting a native RVT file out of Inventor is going to be huge for a lot of people.
Don't know why Autodesk do it but often the best stuff is held back a couple of updates into the year so see how you feel for say 2022.2

@@philroo1 quite frankly no. Maybe it is huge to get something out to revit. They always work on better interoperability between their softwares to sell suites, but Inventor still has huge problems in it's core functionality that are frequently mentioned in their idea station. But they don't work on them, they work on a nice export option and new model states which seems to me as a reshuffle of lod and views. Inventor is really falling behind, and if they dont get their s*** together we switch to some grown up CAD software. Maybe it can't export to Revit, but i can model parts and assemblies. Which is what i pay for.

@@Zirlikus Revit has largest market share in aec by a long way, obviously they're going to target in house software first but it's more than 'software nepotism'. I've been back and forth between Solidworks and Inventor over the years with a fairly even split between both, depending on what I'm doing I've found myself either hating or loving the package I'm in at the time. I also saw a job advertised at a software house a while back, they wanted some deep 3D maths knowledge and listed Siemens, dassault, and Autodesk as their customers, I suspect as you near the core they're all using a lot of the same code.

Unable to mirror parts in assembly? Are you sure about this? Sounds like a superficial suddenly-taken judgement...

@@Zirlikus maybe have a look at Derive components instead of mirroring them in assemblies. The derived parts keep updating to changes made to the parent part which is not the case when using the mirror feature. Just a suggestion.

Dark Theme is a main feature, that stops you from opening random palettes with a mixture of light theme and dark theme.... then 3:22 happened

When Dark Theme is a main feature of the update you know the really invested a lot of time and effort! /s
