- We went on Safari in Yala National Park in Sri Lanka on the search for leopards. Were we lucky? Watch and find out.
Yala National Park is renowned for the presence of leopards. In fact it is considered one of the best places in the world to spot them on Safari.
After travelling in Africa for 10 months, going on numerous safaris and only seeing 4 of the BIG 5, we came here to Sri Lanka to try our luck in seeing the illusive leopard.
But it's not only leopards that can be seen in Yala. You can also see elephants, sloth bears, crocodile, mongoose, monkeys, buffalo, deer and so much more. Come along with us for a safari of a lifetime!

We spent an awesome 7 weeks travelling in Sri Lanka. We hope you enjoy this video! 🇱🇰♥️ Here's the link to our entire Sri Lanka series: ruclips.net/p/PLCmNbKU5iMrm1426S5ltprrISCZunP-BF
There will be more videos to come from this amazing country so remember to SUBSCRIBE & tap NOTIFY!! 🙏🤗
You are really lucky to see all those animals. The environment shows this recording is more than 1 year old because we had rain since last year August and jungle is green throughout the past year 😊
We were so blessed with our trip to Yala, and with our amazing 7 weeks in Sri Lanka 🤗 🙏🇱🇰
This is the playlist of all our Sri Lanka videos:

You guys really struck it lucky. Not many would get to see a baby leopard & a sloth bear which are notoriously shy. Not to mention the pachyderm showing off his todger, which reminded me of my good days.
Haha 😂 Thanks 🙏 We did strike it lucky there. We heard many stories from people who didn't get to see anywhere near as much. Our driver, Janka really went out of his way to make it memorable for us. 🙏. I'd do it again in a flash! Mr pachyderm certainly was a big boy 😳. He came up close so we had to scoot in case he got frisky. 😂😂
The positive vibe you guys carry is just lovely
That is so very kind of you to say, rowguppy! Thank you 🙏🤗
Fantastic ,that looked so much fun .seeing a leopard and an elephant, I've decided on srilanka looks fantastic there.cant wait to see elle.hope your both well take care and thank you for another great video
That's so wonderful to hear that you will go to Sri Lanka. ❤️ There is so much to see and do there. We both think it's a brilliant country to travel in. Nice and compact and full of beautiful places to visit. 😍❤️🇱🇰
Hi guys. Really enjoyed watching this with Lyndsy - a Jungle Book fan from the past. Assume none of the animals were introduced to the reserve. We both wondered what is usual elephant tucker? They looked very healthy. Thanks for a very entertaining video xo
Hi Ally 😊 So glad you and Lyndsy enjoyed it being such avid wildlife fans. 😍. Sri Lanka is teaming with wildlife and so verdant too, so they thrive here. Nothing has been introduced. They are all native to the area. The big problem in Sri Lanka is habitat loss due to the population growth and development in rural areas so these protected areas are so important to give the wildlife their own space. The elephants love all the bush here and the ones outside the parks are coming into conflict with villages as they go raiding the crops.
It's not uncommon to see an elephant wandering down the road even outside these protected areas.
The safari was even better than we could have ever imagined. I wish we had better cameras as we could have shown a lot more that we couldn't capture through the lens.
It's a true natural heaven here. ❤️
Dont forget other national parks - Wilpattu, Wasgamuwa, Kuamana, Bundala, and Kaudulla. Each park is famous for something.
So many great places to visit. 😊. We really want to come back and explore more of these amazing parks. Sri Lanka has so much to offer. 😍❤️🇱🇰
Cor! What an exciting day :)
It was a mind blowing experience. Travel highlight for me for sure. ❤️🇱🇰
Gorgeous leopard! You are so lucky!
We were astounded that we got to see a leopard there. It was so exciting and we'd love to go again. Definitely a highlight, not only of Sri Lanka but of our lives! ❤️❤️

Thank you, Susan. We didn't know what to expect and were blown away by the amount of wildlife there. It was my personal highlight of Sri Lanka and I'd love to go back and explore more. There are many more National parks there. ❤️🇱🇰
I think it is time you took some of your faithful subscribers on holiday somewhere - maybe you should visit Sri Lanka again
That would be such a great thing to do, Leslee. You'd be one of the first we'd invite along. Sri Lanka has won our hearts and we are already talking about returning at some stage. ❤
I like both of you ❤

26 national parks in Sri Lanka
126 water falls, and 120 main rivers flow across the country. And more than 20000 twenty thousand man made lake's. Other than sun and sea and beaches, ancient ruins. ❤
Wow .. Sri Lanka has so much and I seriously want to see it all. It's amazing! We were there for 7 weeks and only scratched the surface. I could go back again and again. For such a small country it has so much to offer. We love it ❤️🇱🇰❤️

Hi M&L,
What a an interesting place to visit.
It almost felt like an African Safari.
Pity that some shots were from distance but carrying camera w/ long lenses isn't practical when backpacking 🤷🏻♂️
I don't recall you mentioning the price or did you?
BTW do they feed the animals or do the carnivores hunt whatever is there?
Thanks for the upload, catch you guys on Saturday. Till then have fun 🙋🏻♂️
Hello SERGIO 👋
Thank you for your great comment on our amazing Yala National Park safari. It certainly reminded us of some of the safaris we went on in Africa in 2011... unfortunately pre-Frugal Travellers so no videos of those incredible experiences.
Lee mentioned the price at 16:23 which was near the end, I think to build suspense but that obviously backfired 🤣 It was €50 each for the morning trip, and it was so worth every cent 😀😁
As Yala is a National park, they don't feed or intervene with the animals...it's pure Nature!
We hope you have an excellent week and we look forward to chatting with you on Saturday. As always, thank you so much, SERGIO for your support and your great comments 🙏🤗 ~ Mandy
Oups ! Yeah I missed the part of Lee mentioned the price)..
It's not like it's expensive but since everything was so cheap in the previous videos I would not have expected that.
Chat later Mandy 🙋🏻♂️
Woow seems like u enjoyed Sri Lanka a lot
It was beyond our wildest dreams 😍❤️🇱🇰
Welcome to Sri Lanka❤❤
Thank you 🙏. This place is amazing 😍
So cool
I was buzzing for days after this. 😍😍
Congratulations on seeing a leopard!! Your video brought back some fond memories. We entered the park from the north and exited south on the way towards Galle. Don’t recall those roads being so rough but might be forgetting that detail. The BIG thing for us was seeing a white adult leopard (not sure if it was a male or female). We were in a jeep like yours and could see wonderfully from the back. Was in an area with tall (1m) grasses on both sides of the road and out of nowhere a leopard crossed the road in front of us. Couldn’t care less about us. 😂 We all saw it except one person-my better half. To this day I don’t know how she missed it. 🤷 Enjoy tea country. ☕️ 👋🏻
There's nothing like that leopard sighting feeling 😍. So sorry for the missus that she missed it. I'd be gutted. Maybe it's a good excuse to go back. 😊
We did many safaris on our 10 month truck expedition around Africa and nowhere there did we see such a variety of wildlife condensed in such a small area. It was amazing! 😍
The driver was awesome. He wasn't afraid to take some of the washed out back roads to find the wildlife. Made it a real adventure. From our experience I'd so recommend it and I'd really like to return and do it again. Maybe try one of the other parks next time. 👍😊
Next time try wilpaththu national park @@FrugalTravellers
Let me know if u come Canada 🇨🇦 I am living Ottawa also u can live in my house ♥️
Thank you so much, Disna. 🙏 I don't think we'll get to Canada until 2026 but hopefully we will. I bet it is amazing there. 😍
If you could've just zoom those moments it would've been great
Yes I agree. It's such a shame we don't have the right type of cameras for safaris.
@@FrugalTravellers I figured if you gonna make good vlogs about safaris or other documentary vlogs you should get a better camera if not most people will just ignore your videos and also it ould be more interesting if you both can speak more clearly because sometimes your voices are not clear I do not know if that is coming from camera problems or not. there are more amazing places in sri lanka that people are not usually going so if you can go to those placese and explore more I know that your channel will get more views and subscribers. this side of world is natural so most people are willing to see those. I can tell you some places you should go if you want to so let me know and also you got the right look for a explorer and you got a sub from me
❤❤❤
Thank you so much 🙏🤗
