Its about dating not the game...
I never noticed how P3 has a lot of songs with depressing lyrics, the Engrish and the generally upbeat tone is so deceptive.
Each persona game has a theme so...
its like this right, the environment they were in was very sad and depressing, teenagers faced with the task of protecting the world and preventing it from ending while death was all around them, however they always faced it with hope and positivity. its as if the lyrics are the reality of the situation and how its saddening them but the tone and the beat and flow is how they decide to approach the situation, with glee and happiness, positivity.
just like how persona 4 is about serial murder
right? I was kinda taken aback too

Ya know when you realize Minato lost his parents at a young age, and how a lot of these lyrics mirror the feelings/ actions of those grieving this song goes from happy sounding to something more melancholy but hopeful
I much prefer that interpretation. Everyone likes to say this song is "depressing" because of the lyrics but I dont see it at all. Its melancholic but hopeful - that's sort of how I feel about the game as well.
Hopeful in the sense that death is a release from thr melancholy and suffering
@@lordlightning2339 I really don't think that was the ultimate point. The point of the game was death acceptance and the concept of moving on after a death of a lost one, not trying to make someone think "my problems will be solved once I'm dead."
You dare call him Minato? REEEEE he's makoto >:[[[[[[
My interpretation of this song have nothing to do with Minato/Makoto, i just always thought it was about someone who has a crush but is just really anxious about the whole thing

Is it time to do a video essay on how the music of the game perfectly fits with the theme of the game? The upbeat music with the depressing lyrics meshing well with the hopeful goal of saving the world with the ending put in your brain at every turn, even in the opening cutscene saying you will die in 7 different languages.
Yes
still waiting on that.
And which cutscene is that?
Because of the other games in the series using it, I think people often forget _why_ Persona 3 introduced the daily life gameplay segment to the series. It's a gameplay representation of life going on - how every day you live gets you closer to your last. And the intended way to play the game is to make the most out of each day, which if the player does, they are rewarded with various benefits. But in the end, the journey has to stop somewhere. But you need the strength you gained through pushing through day to day life, the same strength you built up with social links and other daily activities. All in order to beat an insurmountable force, Nyx. And in the end, the protagonist leaves this mortal coil and his friends behind. Which is an allegory for how we need to live our life to the fullest so that we can be prepared to face death itself not with fear, but with courage and determination, even if it means we have to accept the fact that we'll likely leave loved ones behind.
The literal gameplay of Persona 3 was in service of its Aesop. When you look at it that way, you see just how special Persona 3 is. While this isn't to discount later games in the series, the daily life segment was mostly added in because it's genuinely fun and gives character to the series. But Persona 3, even if it is now the most elementary version of the daily life system, is the one that uses it in the most thematically relevant way. And that's why Persona 3 will always be a special game to me.
RELOAD IS COMING OUT SOON YOU HAVE A CHANCE BIG DAWG

God, I played the Persona games in highschool, i'm 25 now, and listening to the OST brings me back to highschool days, which is appropriate for the games. It's like a weird blend of nostalgia for my own highschool and the MC's. (moreso the MC's, oops LOL)
Makes me cry n shit

For some reason the most prominent memory from the game that comes to mind when I hear this music is when I'm trying to find Tanaka in Paulownia Mall pretty much bracing myself to hear his less-than-decent lesson of the day. I guess that's just taking my mind off of the sad fact that Minato is dead and I'm coping by being stuck reliving the funny and entertaining moments of his life.
Persona 3 is the only game I ever felt nostalgic while playing despite not actually doing so for the first time until I was 30.
I'm 21 my first time was in July of 2022 (i didn't beat it) but this game reminds me of 2008 and 2009...it's so weird and nostalgic at the same time, maybe is because how is the game itself.
I got to know about P3 and P4 and listened to these songs since i was 15, now i'm 26 and this reminded me of high school so much
This is how i heard the lyrics to be

You gotta tell now, your love came all over me
When stars are smiling at moon
Wonder how they thrill your eyes
Just dialing your number alot
Failing to press the last two

When moon's reaching starts
If you hold me tight
Feeling hearts beat so close
