I think that's why Keith Richards preferred Gibson acoustics like the Hummingbird. I don't recall seeing him with a Martin acoustic very much. He preferred the acoustic to sound more like a bucket, which forced him to dig in more. The Gibson is definitely darker, and the Taylor is definitely very bright. That's why female pop stars tend to play Taylors and rocker guys play Gibsons. 😉
The D-35 have a very nice medium tone, smooth and balanced, the J45 have more treble tone, the 914ce is bright with clear tone and more projection. But, i love the mellow tone of the Martin &Co. I'm excited because my HD28 is coming soon !
It all depends on what you want and need the guitar to do. This test should be done in more than one style of "playing". I am a fingerstylist and choose... Taylor. Cheers!
I do prefer martin👍 it sounds beautiful and classic! and The taylor, i think it’s better in smooth and calm fingerstyle songs because of its bright and light tone..!
Would be glad to own any of these beautiful guitars. Got to give it to the 914ce! Wholesome, full, and bright sound. But then maybe that's because I just played a 914ce and a 916ce Builders Ed at The House of Guitars in Rochester NY yesterday. And also, that I just ordered a 914ce and a 916ce Builder Ed today from Sweetwater. Should be here by Friday....very excited!
All 3 sound great. D35 is the most balanced in this comparison but i still prefer the 914ce. One has to account for the cutaway on the Taylor and the corpustype. It has a grand auditorium body, perfected for finger picking not strumming. A better guitar for this comparison would be the 916ce but even this model has a cutaway and not a dreadnough body like the D35 and J45.
J45 has that "darky-folky" flavor we all love, but D35 sounds perfectly balanced for any posible genre, so I'd go with it if had to keep one for the rest of my life in the studio. 914ce has a more "stringy" vibe. Not quite my taste, yet beautiful.
They are perfectly lined up in terms of brightness level, the gibson is crisp with a high level of bottom end, and medium brightness, the martin is perfectly balanced in between with low and high end ( i prefer a higher bottom end) the taylor excels with its brightness with a medium to low bottom end
Was going to say Taylor 914 is the best but after listening to it quite a few times, I changed my mind. Martin is the best, due to its well balanced clarity.
First off very interesting comparison…different body shapes. Not exactly a 1 to 1 comparison Slope shouldered dread A dread And a grand auditorium Secondly…I’d like to purchase all three please!
I have the d-35 and j-45. I have the best of both worlds. Can't go wrong with either. There's never been a set up done on the j-45 because it doesn't need it. The d-35 has had two different set ups. The first when I bought it new. I bought a hd-28 with great action. It was set up by the previous owner. I then had the d-35 set up like hd-28. The j-45 had great action off the rack. They both are great guitars along with my hd-28. When I bought my j-45 I went to get the d-18 but was disappointed with it So I bought the j-45.
Martin as a guitarrist who play Yamaha s all my life sound w a little more definition Not to bright and Not too dark sound like a Well balanced piece of Musical Art iMHO.
If I were playing a solo gig I'd choose the Martin for best overall sound but in a group situation I'd probably choose the Taylor to cut through the mix.
Taylor sounded so full with incredible clarity for every string. Gibson is a close second to accompany with the round lower tones. All three sounded amazing and anyone would be lucky to own one! 👍🏼
I'm hearing mids and lows dominate the tone from the Gibson, mids and highs from the Martin and Highs and lows from the Taylor. The Martin I find to be the most well balanced while the Taylor gives the most punch. I like the tone of the Gibson and might say it's the best voice-accompaniment instrument of the three. It sounds like it would fill a lot of space for a small group while the Taylor would be great to cut through a large ensemble. The Martin would be the best instrument for solo play and the most versatile of the three.
Really, nothing is better than each other. At this point where all guitars sound phenomenal, no one will make a mistake with any pick. it now just boils down to what you prefer best. If you like the clear crisp presence yet gentle (like a breeze) sound the martin makes then that's for you - but if you like something that's really in your face and crisp, then Taylor is for you. If you want something in between or arent looking for any specific traits, you could go for the gibson for all types of playing. The truth is all three are good for anything.
All of them have their unique strength, for recording, we will pick Taylor, for small to medium indoor live performances, we will pick Gibson, for outdoor live performance, we will pick Martin. 😊
Studio engineers will lean towards the D35. It's the most balanced of them all. We tend to like the flat even sound. Put I prefer my acoustic with some crisp /highs... if I'm playing alone most likely take the D35. If my Bass friend is playing with me, J45. It's subjective ✌️
martin is the best ! so clear and crisp
Как по мне,то гибсон объемнее звучит, хотя на этом видео прекрасно все. Для каждой гитары можно найти свою роль
@@Runes_and_esotericism Мне тоже Гибсон больше всех понравился
Completely agree
Martin is thin
Martin isn't a joke. Perfect mastered balanced equaliser.
Martin is the most balance high mid and treble
Exactly.
😅😅😅
That low mid on gibson is something the rest dont have.
Absolutely, love that vibe
The Taylor sounds more brilliant, but all sounds amazing 😍
Thanks for lovely comments
👍
Now this is how you do it tone test shout-out video! Short and sweet and it even just repeats over and over 😂 I love this brother! Thank you!
Thank you for your kind and sweet writing :)
The J45 Studio is the most pleasing to my ears.
Realmente o Martin D35 se destaca pela sonoridade que agrada os ouvidos.
That's what I thought but ig everyone think differently
They all sound incredible, you make them sing 👏 I am a Martin Lover but gotta say that this Taylor sounds pretty bright and crystal clear 🎸
To me, the Taylor explodes with the flavors of high, mid and low tones. But I am a Taylor owner of the 410 and GS8.
They all sound good
Gibson sounds muddy, Martin is clear and tight, Taylor is clear and open
Best way I've heard these guitars described. I will say I do prefer martin over gibson when it comes to acoustic.
Taylor Crystal voice ❤
Shallow sounding
No bass.
Sounds thin.
Just treble and no bass.
This is a ridiculous and useless comparison. Beauty is in the ear of the listener!
Loved Taylor 914❤
They all sound great. Matter of preference but I like the Martin's tone the most
I think I like the Taylor the most for it’s brightness and projection, this is coming from a nylon player who values warmness in their tone
I like them all. I would pick the guitar that suits the song i'm playing
classy / warm / bright
The D-35 have a very nice medium tone, smooth and balanced, the J45 have more treble tone, the 914ce is bright with clear tone and more projection. But, i love the mellow tone of the Martin &Co. I'm excited because my HD28 is coming soon !
Taylor sounds so lovely
The J45 sounded awesome !
It’s pretty close but Martin > Taylor > Gibson
It all depends on what you want and need the guitar to do. This test should be done in more than one style of "playing". I am a fingerstylist and choose... Taylor. Cheers!
Taylorの万能感すごいな
弾き語りならMartin
ギターそのものを楽しみたいならGibson
Taylor has a different body profile
But it sounds lovely as it is
Personally, i like the Gibby sound best
Almost everybody write Martin is the best only because of the brand. However it would be different if this video was a blind test sound.
The Martin sounded heavenly
테일러 이즈 베스트~~!!! 화사하고 예쁜소리가 매력적이네요~!! 디자인도 예쁘구요!!!
마틴과 깁슨은 가라앉고 물먹은듯한 사운드예요~!!
I do prefer martin👍 it sounds beautiful and classic! and The taylor, i think it’s better in smooth and calm fingerstyle songs because of its bright and light tone..!
Sure the Taylor is louder but the martin is perfectly smooth blended and harmonized
Dreadnought vs Dreadnought vs a Grand Auditorium with a cutout?!?!? 😂
Hahaha ikr
A kind of
Alto-Tenor-Suprano
They're all sound lovely with their respective gender❤😊
Taylor Wins the Cool sound (Crystal Clear and Clean), Crisps, Tonality.
Tylor 914ce
Taylor sounds great!
The Taylor for me. 😊
914CE
I like the sounds of martin guitars but I find Gibsons and Taylors so much nicer to play
For this kind of song: Martin D35
Taylor
I don‘t really know how to describe it, but I love the „clearness“ of the Taylor
J45 sounds so crisp!
Acho que n existe melhor ou pior, vai muito do gosto de cada um e pra qual estilo prefere tocar, os 3 tem sons muitos bonitos e únicos. Eu iria de J45
I’m new to guitar stuff but damn I thought the Gibson sounded amazing !!
Taylor for me :) the brilliance & clearness is amazing. Martin is more balanced and perfect for rythm tho.
Martin all day!
I like all of them. But Martin is probably the best.
They're all three beautiful. It's good to be American. Freedom of choice.
Amen.
Taylor bright sound🎸
J45 has that "darky-folky" flavor we all love, but D35 sounds perfectly balanced for any posible genre, so I'd go with it if had to keep one for the rest of my life in the studio.
914ce has a more "stringy" vibe. Not quite my taste, yet beautiful.
Martin is the warmest, Taylor is the most Lively and Gibson is a mix of Lively and warmth. I give the Edge to Gibson 👍🏻
Exactly :)
I want them all
Martin for the win. Been my favorite guitars for over 40 years.
Cant I just pick all 3? Gibson has that same 24.75 for acoustic, ❤ martin and Taylor are my dreams
Which one is the Martin?
Should have used a standard J45 and not a studio.
Price comparison
J45 Studio - 2,400
Martin D35 Seth - 3,400
Taylor 914ce - 5,800
The J45 Studio replaced the J15 and the J15 is quite better. I've played them both
They are perfectly lined up in terms of brightness level, the gibson is crisp with a high level of bottom end, and medium brightness, the martin is perfectly balanced in between with low and high end ( i prefer a higher bottom end) the taylor excels with its brightness with a medium to low bottom end
It's an accurate analysis You have delicate ears
1 martin sounds the best
2 this is how all comparison videos should be
Thanks a lot :)
Should do a demo of them playing at 5he same time that would be great 😃
I like the sound of the Taylor the most but for my style of playing Gibson would be my preference.
me too!
Was going to say Taylor 914 is the best but after listening to it quite a few times, I changed my mind. Martin is the best, due to its well balanced clarity.
To me the sound doesn’t matter. It’s the feel that matters. If I practice on it for hours a day I don’t want my fingers hating it lol.
Those three are good but j45 and D35 is more soothing
Martin has a beautiful crisp bright tone.
Martin = 🐐
Martin is the best. It is the most well balanced. The taylor sounds incredibly bright and pleasant though
First off very interesting comparison…different body shapes. Not exactly a 1 to 1 comparison
Slope shouldered dread
A dread
And a grand auditorium
Secondly…I’d like to purchase all three please!

I’ve got a Taylor, and I love it, but I don’t think this range on the neck is Taylor’s strong suit.
Taylor 👍👍👍
1.Taylor
2. Gibson
3. Martin
the more I listen with headphones and my eyes closed the Martin is sounding the most pleasing
Martin always makes good sound
1. Graduation slideshow
2. Taylor Swift
3. Old guy playing his grandkids songs from “back in his day”
They all ring beautifully, but I actually think I like J45 best.
Gibson, at a lower price point, too. Walnut is underrated.
Gibson and Taylor sound beautiful. The Martin surprised me with how flat and dull it sounds.
3 are great . But gibson has the balanced tone and calming effect
Martin as a guitarrist who play Yamaha s all my life sound w a little more definition Not to bright and Not too dark sound like a Well balanced piece of Musical Art iMHO.

amazing and correct
And now a guitar which sounds equally good but is actually affordable
Really, nothing is better than each other. At this point where all guitars sound phenomenal, no one will make a mistake with any pick. it now just boils down to what you prefer best. @acousticgroove what are the chords played in strumming?
E C#m A B chord progression
Gibson has that beautiful whisper, thats why I am a Gibson kind of whatever you think of 😊 ❤❤
Almost everybody write Martin is the best only because of the brand. However it would be different if this video was a blind test sound.
The thing is that the J45 Studio Walnut "replaced" the J15 (Walnut), which is definitely better than this one.
even range throughout
Martin 😊 have a D35E 2020
beats Taylor or Gibson
All of them have their unique strength, for recording, we will pick Taylor, for small to medium indoor live performances, we will pick Gibson, for outdoor live performance, we will pick Martin. 😊

Is this a song or just improvised? So cool
Thanks a lot. It's just chord progression.
@acousticgroove What chord progression is it please?
@@ChristianCMC E - C#m - A - B. :)
@acousticgroove Thanks I can't quite get it just yet.
@@acousticgrooveCan you do a lesson on that chord progression?
The Gibson has a much more compact sound and I guess its what I like the most to be heavier when u want I guess..
914ce me gustó más el sonido
While the Martin sounds good, I think the Taylor sounds the best.
taylor > gibson > martin, taylor win
Totally agree.
J-45 is too much unique. Another level
Me las llevo a las tres cada una tiene su momento su espacio
Taylor has best balance.
Martin has best brightness.
Gibson is like an old pair of jeans.
I choose Martin.. soft sound.. i want to buy it one
You can do someday. Dreams come true!
what chords are you playing ? Thanks
E - C#m - A - B
