Moms are special, they always look out for your best interest, I'm glad you have that wonderful memory of her finding the Brassavola for you and now your will be sharing a piece back with her! that's is so wonderful!
Hi Dani greetings from Canada.. Just want to comment on the zygonesia blue birds. I have that one and also the alba version called DOVE of peace. I know you will shudder, but I grow both in full water culture in very frigid Canada. They don't like to dry out and the one parent flowers while the floods bathe them, so not a real zygo, but a beautiful and interesting plant. Comments are welcome, but not the cruel ones that sometimes show up. We are all here to learn. Good luck with your plant, you will be in awe when it flowers.
You have an echinolabium too! I hope yours grows nice and big and blooms for you. It took mine 3 years to flower but now it's been blooming for several months.
Black spots on Zygos mean lack of air circulation on the leaves themselves. Don't feel bad for not being able to raise Zygopetalums, they are uncommon here, but they are worth it. I put mine outside for winter and that was the trigger apparently. Mind you the same orchid has 5 new growths and has gone though 40C days (Not in full sun) and just got swapped from soil cause I wanted to make sure the roots are not having issues with poor drainage If it makes you feel better, I have killed so many phalaenopsis but my Zygo is growing amazingly. She is a little demanding, but tolerates me. I water- feed her a lot more over spring-autumn and just let her rest over winter. I water ever 5ish days during the warmer months and once a week over winter. Never leave her to go dry but I let her get natural airflow and natural temperatures. They like having a difference between day and night temperature wise. Semi-hydro might work for them, but they don't like sitting in water (Unless its a tray and pebbles just to make the area moist)
Thanks for another great video! Glad to see how your Bulbo is doing in s/h - I have several that will be in need of repotting, so I'll probably try one in s/h. I've had my Elizabeth Ann 'Buckleberry' for 1 1/2 years now, and she has TWO spikes on her at last! And my Encyclias & Zygo have been doing wonderful in s/h!
Loving the updates! I have had some success with zygopetalums here in Houston, Texas (semi-tropical). It gets pretty darn hot here. I grow them indoors in a grow space in a location closest to the fan. This definitely helps with keeping them cool in bright locations. The minute I move them farther from the fan, the leaves start spotting up from the lack of circulation. May want to try them closer to the fans. That was the advice someone gave me a while back and it works for me. Looking forward to seeing the Jimminey Cricket soon I hope!
I also have the zygonisia cynosure blue bird, I live in south Florida (almost the keys) I grow it outside and it’s doing lovely. Maybe a humidity issue . As you know it’s quite warm here
I love update videos ^_^ For the next one, how is your dimorphorchis orchids, angraecums, miltoniopsis, nelly isler, vandachostylis colmarie, and vanda seedlings are doing? Hope to see them soon 😄
I grow my zygopetalum in living room whats warm and i have no spotting on leaves .Do you have lots of fresh air coming in ?As they like lots of fresh air .Hope you work it out and i wish you all the best .
Hey Danny! Could you please include the sedirea japonica and its keikis in your next update video? Mine is currently producing three keikis (but looks very healthy and is blooming right now), so I'm very interested to see, what happened after the division. Greetings
Hi! Your videos have been great for learning more and more about my orchids, thank you! I have a question you may be able to help with -I have a dendrobium nobile since last summer, and since a new cane started growing, the cane that bloomed last summer is quite shrivelled, and it doesn’t seem to improve when I water her. Any ideas how I could help her? Thanks! :)
Hi Danni, I have a question about a large Dendrobium Phalaenopsis I purchased a few months back. It was a clearance plant I bought from the garden centre of a hardware store and it had been sitting on a table that was flooded without about in inch of water. Not surprisingly it had a lot of root rot and needed some surgery when I repotted it. It seems to be doing well overall now but one of the canes always gets dry and and a bit shrivelled between waterings while the rest are fine. I've begun watering it more often but I don't want to overwater the rest of the plan which doesn't seem to need quite as much. Any advice?
Can I bury bulbophyllum Elizabeth joints,or I don't know the correct term to pronounce it,the joints or connection between two bulbs, under semihydroponics little to produce roots???
I have trouble growing Zygopetalums as well. I don't think they are suited to my South Florida, USA climate. I can live without them......there are so many other orchids out there to have in my collection.

I have a dendrobium speciosum myself and it sure is taking its time maturing. I heard that it can take up to 12 years!!!
What a lovely mum 😊.

I have a brassavola nodusa that is mounted. I am about to change it, but to what???? Is your jiminy cricket in semi hydro?
Need new care tips updates for belling phalaenopsis
Danni, what happens to orchid roots if they don’t get air? Like if they are in a closed pot that doesn’t allow for air movement/circulation?
Elle Plow Plow They likely will rot.
Christina D why?
Hey is your website down? I've check it the last few days and it says its temporarily unavailable.

What about the disaster repot catyleya? Did they live?
My wife makes semi hydro vases for our orchids if you're looking for something bigger
vanilla (would it do ok in semi hydro too?)
