I lived there for half a year and I gotta tell you, that was my exact experience. Just add some more snow, nice people and sauna into it (and *I can't stress this one enough* snow)
With a lot of shows, you can kinda get a feel for rough themes on what the show is about based purely on the intro. Breaking bad has lots of chemistry references, the Big Bang theory has a lot of history and science references, the office has a lot of shots of the office and the nearby Scranton area, etc.. This, though? Following that logic, this must be one of the scariest fucking shows ever made
Ok I never saw the last like 20 seconds of the full video and the people at the end are really creepy with the way they go from happy to serious/angry/scared expressions. 10/10 would visit Finland again.
I'm glad that we can all come together, after who knows how many years and through who knows how many countries to, just find happiness in this song that many Finnish people were accustomed to. I feel like this TV show song will be a part of many people's lives and I take joy in knowing that the creator of this song, and whoever helped put this song on air, would not know about this. This is an interesting part of our history, as humans, this song is. Please take part in enjoying this moment of history with me.
What a great comment, and I must admit I find myself frequently coming back to this video for a smile and a laugh, and am pleased to share that moment with someone as pleasant and thoughtful as yourself
It's an intro to a Finnish 90s TV show "Hyvät Herrat" (Dear Sirs). The show was political satire, with many Finnish politicians as guest stars. Feels really weird that a TV show from that long ago has earned a meme status outside Finland because of these surreal and uncanny CGI intro sequences. But then again it's the internet.
imagine just picking up 100 markka and then just being a cup of tea, then being sipped by a lady who somehow turns into a black man who falls apart and then comes back to sweep himself up with the Finnish parliament building without any pillars behind him
In an intro, something covered in the ground rolls to the stairs on a building. When it reached the stairs, the pillars looked down. It went up one of the pillars, and the other pillars run away. The pillar grows a face of a middle-aged man. He does a "doo-doo" mouth gesture before being rolled into $100. Another man takes the $100 and realizes he is in a mug of tea. The old woman sips it. After she sips it, the video distorts, and she becomes a black doctor. When he wears his stethoscopes, he disintegrates. He then becomes a street sweeper, being in the same building setting as the one in the first scene. Finally, the top of the building breaks. A frame can be shown in the cloudy sky, with yellow text reading "Hyvät Herat". The words disappear, and the same middle-aged man grows inside the frame. He smiles, but then be frowns. He morphs to another man, less older. He makes a very happy expression, but then, he frowns. He morphs into the same old woman but slightly younger, making a mad face, then smiling. She then morphs into a man wearing a black bow tie, making a funny face. He faces to the right as the into ends.
Imagine being a strange lump in the road approaching the Finnish parliament building and then the pillars inspect you as you infect one of them and then you become a happy man that gets crushed by a 100 finnish mark note which gets pocketed by another man who then becomes a cup of coffee that gets drunk by a woman who then transforms into another man that is a doctor who then disintegrates and then is swept up by the very same man outside of the FInnish parliament building in which collapses due to there being no pillars.
I just imagine Finland is an endless expanse of snow and pine trees and nokia billboards with this music playing all the time
And some saunas and vaarnii furnitures with vodka
Only endless expanse of pine trees nowadays.
I still need proof that it isn't

Why does this feel so nostalgic
Out of all the Finnish shows about politics, this is my favorite.
Taitaa olla ainoita videoita tubessa, jossa on eka sekunti tallessa. Omastakin restauraatiosta puuttuu kyseinen kohta.
