As far as knowledge is concerned I am a big zero before the knowledge and experience of our elders.There is only a little difference between the two festivals i,e.kanchouth and Shivratri, In nutshell kanchouth is Bhaderwahi version of Shivratri.According to Shiv Purana on this day, Lord Shiva accepted Mata Parvati as His consort in response to her long and severe tapasya. Observing a fast on this day is believed to bring good luck, fulfilment of desires, and protection to the children and husband of the devotees. At the end I want to say sorry for annoying you with such an irrelevant discussion but I am in a bad habit of criticizing people. Sorry
