I used to listen to her song all the time and everyday ! I saw her in Copenhagen and she is incredible. I thought Sudan archive was a group at the beginning but when she arrived alone and performed I was like this girl is gold !
One of the best songs and videos in several in years! I'm a film director and this is extremely well directed on limited budget. The ideas, use of color, slow mo, and over all treatment is all stellar. New album is fantastic. Could be one for the ages. Will be seeing her live soon!

When they are pulling on her hair, it makes me think of Medusa. It makes me think of something I read a little while ago that Medusa was actually a black woman with locs. She had been reimagined, reconseptualized & demonized as a Greek gorgon monster

Ive always loved that story and i think it's important to learn about the social/historical context
The story of medusa is sad in general. It's about a woman, a priestess i think who is apart of athena's temple. But she got raped by Poseidon, i think, and athena chose to punish her by making her ugly, and so that she couldn't ever look at a man again without turning him into stone. She became a symbol for victims of sexual assualt and an image of her would be the symbol for safe houses. The story is a bit more complicated but i summarized it.
