And you can get all that in another set for the low low price of $80! Because even if you spend $500 on a Lego set, you still need an add on for $80 to make it complete!
@@DesignedAssassin I'm not sure where you're coming from exactly, what I mean is that there are Two skiffs in the scene from the movie so It makes sense that they made separate cheap set, but the one that could have come with the barge would have had different minifigures
Plus the included minifigs could have been more accurate. Bib Fortunas Lekku is too big, they just reused the piece from Boba Fetts Throne Room set. C-3PO should have had the dual molded leg. Leia should NOT have had the dual molded leg. For the price Lego is asking, there's a lot of misses here.
As much as the price hurts, Ill get it eventually. Hopefully a future sale will knock some money off. I already have the USC Sandcrawler and Mos Eisley on display. The Sail Barge will be a great addition. Maybe someday I'll create a Tatooine Moc.
Pass. Life-long Star Wars fan here, and the set looks great, but I can't in good conscience support Lego as they keep ramping up prices to ridiculous levels. I don't want to help Lego normalize $400 or $500 for a box of plastic bits.
UCS sets are great to look at, and so is this one, but I've never bought one and I doubt I ever will. I'm just as happy with an 800 piece version of something as I would be with a 4000 piece version of the same thing.
I've mentioned this on some other videos covering this set,but I do think this is overpriced. If they combined this set with the new Desert Skiff and Sarlacc Pit set, it would be worth closer to the $500 price point. But instead we have to fork over $580 to get both... Thankfully I am not a big Star Wars fan 😂
I was looking forward to seeing your video on it but sadly I won't be able to afford it but hopefully they'll display it in the lego store so I can see it in person.
When comparing this with the Rivendell set, it feels about 100 dolars short of the value. When compared even to the Mos Eisley cantina set it feels underwhelming as well. I love the idea of the set, I love the look... I just don't feel the value for what I get. To me the entry point that I would say okay let me get that. 450.00 but a combo with the Sarlacc pit and the sail barge.
It looks pretty neat but its far too expensive. Rivendell blows this out of the water in every way imaginable for the same price. Star Wars licensing IP and investors have LEGO in a strangle hold and wont loosen their grip at the consumers expense. Sheesh Disney is hitting rock bottom bad.
It's a $400 set with a 25% tax. Jabba and the Gamorian guard are the only MiniFigures that are top notch. Everyone else there are either better versions available currently C3PO or they are missing things like leg printing or too much leg printing.
Very nice sail barge and appreciate your in depth analysis as always Colin! Do I want to buy this set? Yes! But not at rrp. It’s just way overpriced and needs at least a 30-40% off to entice me. Esp since I have the 2013 one already.
That's absolutely insane. 300 for 4000 peices is crazy, not including the fact that this is a starwars/jabba the hutt set. This set is about 50 dollars over what it should be. Never in anyone's wildest dreams is this a 300 dollar set. Sorry 🤷♂️
Nice set and well designed from the looks of it but man for the price you can get Rivendell or the avengers tower. The price is just way to high. Jesus look at mos eisley for only $400 and twice the minifigs
@@borodo2072 they will have a light sabwe, that I am sure many would have wanted for itself... seems like the logical thing is to make the GWP relevant but obviously the sarlac set is too big to be a GWP
The "Klaatu" figure is not Klaatu. The figure you think is "klaatu" is actually a different character. LEGO actually nailed the character. It's a Nikto species for sure, but not Klaatu. For those wondering, the Nikto species has a few different subspecies. Anyway... This set is a PASS for me. I'd prefer a barge in size, or slightly bigger, to the last playscale barge we had.
@@POKEMONCARDSOPENER1and? 3800 pieces and 11 minifigs, rivendell has 6600 pieces, 21 minifigures if you count statues and is bigger than this set, set is cool but very overpriced
@@angelomedeiros493 Exactly. And Rivendell also looks like a piece of art on the shelf when completed. This looks like a big brown barge :) $500 for a bit of nostalgia? No way.
Supply and demand. Lego knows the prior models of the sail barge went for insane after market prices, so they know people are willing to buy this specific model at a high MSRP regardless of piece count, minifig count, etc. If no one bought this set the day it launched, lego would be forced to put it on sale to a more reasonable price. But it will sell, & they know that
I think you might find he had that silver leg through the entire OT, except of course for a few brief moments in Empire when it was detached from him in Cloud City ;)
I’m probably gonna buy it. Like with the UCS ATAT, Millennium Falcon, and Mos Eisley Cantina, it’s gonna go up in price and I wouldn’t wanna buy it at $600 or $650. I’ll buy it when it comes out, especially so I can get Luke’s lightsaber. I’ll hold off on the skiff tho
At least in the UK, the skiff is *already* £10 discounted on Amazon. I bought one at £59.99 figuring that was a price I was happy to pay and it won’t get much better than that for at least a few months
$500 is ludicrous, especially without the skiff and sarlacc pit. Should be no more than $300-$400 I can’t imagine this selling well at full price
Honestly if they included another skiff with an additional 5 minifigures, the price would be more reasonable
And you can get all that in another set for the low low price of $80! Because even if you spend $500 on a Lego set, you still need an add on for $80 to make it complete!

Is not even only that, set is just not a good value per piece, Lego has always been expensive, but this one is just crazy overpriced
RIP Ree Yees
Great Video! Despite its issues, this LEGO Set is definitely a Heater!
Correct me if I'm wrong but I think I already said this is very good set not good price.
Two of these minifigures should have come with the skiff.

I already have one destiny’s bounty, I don’t need another one with a basketball player lady.
The minifig you called Klaatu is actually Wooof, and is fairly accurate for that character.
hes missing the wool print on the plain legs - cheap cheap lego
The most I'll spend on a single set is $150, so the Sail Barge is way out of my budget. I may see about getting a couple of the minifigures later

Do you really want to spend that much on plastic that will just sit there gathering dust or gets in the way when moving house etc.
Instead of a GWP the initial release could come with a substantial discount to this set.
GWP and x2 points even and I'd be happy, or hell throw in the Skiff just for release week.

Well one could sell the gwp after purchase probably for $100 so that would bring your cost down… if one can part with it…
That’s my plan. Essentially making it a $400 set. I can live with that

Not wide enough, censored minifig???, no eyes, old fat bib, nondualmolded c3po and way overpriced for a failing star wars franchise
