I often like to use the fourth string root major 7th chord where you the pinky on the D string as your root and just step ladder the next three fingers one string and one fret apart. It's a nice sound, especially if you are playing with a bass player.
Frusciante uses that one alot. You’re right about the bass player, but you can get your thumb over if you want the root on the low E. Same fret as your second finger!
My fingers aren't as long as they seem :) But it's hard to know if you can do it without watching you play. You'll be surprised at how far you can stretch your fingers with practice though. Thanks! -Chad
i figured out a chord when i was starting out that's apparently called a Gmaj7/E. it looks like this 0 7 0 9 7 0 it's a super beautiful chord and ive never heard anyone play it
Stamp for each way:
1:20
2:44
4:09
good luck!
This is it! This helped so much.
I've been playing 23 years and I still giggle when someone says "fingering".
With power chords its advisable to use two fingers -ring supporting pinky- to finger the G string.
💀
Thanks, finally understood after watching your way

I lose all my strength when I try using pinky
Me too
Make sure your thumb is correct. A lot of times, that's the biggest issue for people who can't use their pinky

your fingers are the length 2 of my fingers taped together can I still do this chord?

You're welcome. Glad it was helpful. Thanks! -Chad
is that standard tuning ?
because I hear an F# in the higher E string , even though there's no finger placed on that string
Yep standard tuning. In the last voicing there is an F# as the highest note but it's played on the 2nd string. Thanks! -Chad
Excellent teaching! thanks
