    Another good tip for beginners is to sell your tools just before they break. You'll get 50% back of their retail value. It doesn't seem like much, but when you're struggling to make good money early days, it is a huge help

      You can store money in boxes by pressing the money icon when your in a box. Helps trade with other players via multiplayer.
      When a tool is about to break and your gunna be upgrading it, say from normal to copper. If it used in its crafting it will reset the durability.
      Cooked food is the best money maker by far for starters. So get your hunting up. Camp fire cooks food, bbq is better but can be costy.. There is no burning when with a BBQ.

    • @WackoMcGoose
      @WackoMcGoose Год назад +4

      Also if you have the dinks to spare, be sure to have at least 3x of every tool in storage for when you have inevitable breaks (or faint and all the durability takes a hit). You can only buy one of each tool per day, and you're gonna facepalm if your last pick breaks but you already bought your one for the day. It's also practical to have multiple shovels specifically, to make dirt moving faster... plus, you can do the _ImpulseSV Shovel Shuffle™_ if your shovels have different dirt types in them 🙃

    I 100% advise ppl to explore the map on day 1 before the timer starts but most importantly, pin the locations you pass as you explore! Pin danger spots, safer spaces with lots of resources, mine deposits and the teleporters. It takes a while but is so useful for long term game play since you now have a detailed map of what is on your island. Love the videos!

    My list of useful things:
    -Build near one of the 4 radio towers (North, East, West, South), these serve as fast travel points later in the game
    - Pick up literally every fruit you see, plant some and save them for fruit salad once you have a cooking station.
    -Sort your storage early by item color, it won't be long before your storage starts overflowing.
    -Buy a Repair Kit every chance you get and build a Repair Bench as soon as possible. Save up worn tools and put them in your inventory whenever you fix your tools at the bench (including weapons).
    -The rowboat is pretty useless so save up for a jetski instead
    -Catch and donate as many things to the museum as possible for lots of license points
    -You can keep predators and other willy animals in traps by lowering their health first
    -In the deep mines you can leave as many trapped animals and large objects as you want in the elevator room then bring them all up once you return to the surface
    -Bring tons of torches to put on the ground and mark your trail when you visit the deep mines, pick them back up on your way out
    -Kill as many jellyfish as you can, their jelly is precious and you're going to want tons of it later in the game

    Everything you find from metal detecting will be used later in the game. Selling is relatively good money - but personally I kept it all and it helped significantly. Croc meat is great for being in deep mines and for the locked off areas its 2 keys per area. KEEP SHINY DISCS for Franklyn as he buys them at 8k a piece. Do errands for each islander daily (I personally don't do the fishing ones because I hate it🤣) and you will get their hearts up in no time.

  • @Debb4h
    @Debb4h 2 года назад +29

    Guys, forget about farming, forget about bugs and fishes or gathering anything. Just max the mining licence and put your mining entrance on ground. Make sure you have all the "old keys" with you, couple of spears and pickaxes.And dont forget about torches cuz its so damn dark. You can make torches from mangrove sticks that grows in rivers. I suggest to bring at least 200 per tour. You gonna need a sleeping bag and lots of food that replenish stamina and health. Its a super enjoyable experience in mines, but it can turn in to a nightmare in seconds literally. The hounds and crocodiles are nasty and hard to kill, but you can ignore them and run. Most annoying ones are bats, so consider to have a bat to take care of them. If you get used to it, every day you can farm up to 1m dinkum from mines. Cook the iron you dig and sell the iron bars to shop. And you will see car wrecks, you can tear them apart with your pickaxe to get materials like the ones from metal detecting. And the best part is tiny little castles, you gonna need 2 old keys to reach inside. There is a treasure chest inside with a lot of loot. Make sure you max out your inventory slots quickley to get out as much as you can

    Just started playing the game myself, and the most lazy way to get money, especially early on, is to build a bunch of collection points and slap them around water where crocs like to spawn! Then just place a trap right next to the collection point, guide a croco with your juicy behind into the trap, and bam. Easy money. I've also pinned down where Bush Devils spawn and put collection points nearby, and you just lead them around as well. It's really easy to dodge their attacks, especially for 9k-12k a pop.

The yellow wattle flower and bottle brush bushes can be cut down for 0-2 seeds. In case anyone stumbles across this video in 2024 (like me, who just started playing Dinkum), the tip about needing the museum before NPCs will move to your island is not (or no longer?) correct. I haven't built the museum yet but Rayne (the Greenhouse) and Clover (the clothing shop) have already moved permanently to my island. My understanding is that the only requirements for getting NPCs to move to your island are (1) spending a certain Dink amount in their shop when they show up in the visitor center (cumulative total, across all their visits), and (2) passing a Heart threshold with them (by talking to them and doing favors). The numbers are different for each NPC but you can get them pretty quickly if you buy one or two things each time they visit and make sure to always talk to them and do whatever side quest they give you.

    Here is on I almost never see any one doing that does guides or let’s play, is make multiple camp fires and furnaces they all take the same amount of time to finish but you’ll save time because your processing many things at once.
    You can grab an extra sleeping bag from Fletch.
    If you plan to do a marathon ore collecting, harvesting, or hunting trips bring a sleeping bag, a campfire, and extra of the tool of choice.
    When hunting use camp fires to soften up the animal, especially if it is a really strong one like an Alpha version.

    Things I wish I knew sooner: When you eat you fill your stomach gauge. When it is full (starts at 3) you can't eat any more until it decreases. The gauge slowly goes down over time. While you are digesting (the gauge isn't empty) you will regen energy. You won't regen health from being full.
    The day only ends when you sleep or faint. When the clock goes to Late your energy bar will become tiny and if you do anything you'll slow down and the world will turn grey as you run out of energy. Eating still restores energy. You can take as long as you want to do activities that don't take energy. Like crafting, smelting and cooking. Fishing doesn't take much energy and is an excellent source of dinks.
    You can put Bugs and Fish on the ground. Bugs stack up to 2 high. Fish do not stack.
    Wattle and Bottle flowers are used to make buffing drinks. To get seeds for these plants, you need to cut them down. When you cut down either flower bush it produces 0-2 seeds. Bottle flowers are much rarer than Wattle flowers, and they don't respawn if cut down. Having a row of wattle and bottle bushes near your house means a consistent supply of buffs later. Do the same for fruit too.
    One of the NPC (Franklin) sells a repair bench and once he moves onto the island repair kits. You need to buy a repair kit (30k dinks) to use the repair station. When you use the kit it repairs every tool in your inventory and bar, except for things that need to be charged. Charging requires a charging station.

    With the level 2 Metal Detecting license, you can see a small 'X' on the ground in places where there's buried treasure. You don't have to have the metal detector in hand to see this, so it's a quick way of finding places to dig. BUT you only get the 'X' for SOME buried treasure, not all of them. Using the metal detector as usual will point out places to dig that aren't marked with the 'X'. Either way, the only buried items you should sell are the shiny discs, and you should sell them to Franklyn, not John. Franklyn will pay WAY more for the discs than John does. Then keep the rest of the stuff because they'll be required to build certain things later and many (if not all) of Franklyn's inventions will require them as well.
    A TIP I WISH I KNEW EARLIER: Fishing in the rivers is a fine way to make some money, but you make a lot more money from the big fish in the ocean. Build a boat as soon as you're able (unlocked by buying the first level of the Vehicle license) and row out into the ocean. Stop where you see big fish below the surface and start fishing. Fill your inventory and go back to sell them all to John for big money. In my experience, it seems like the fish that fight harder are worth more. Also, there are different fish in the different oceans, so try fishing off the northern coast of your island, off the western coast, off the eastern coast, and off the southern coast to find different types of fish. For instance, I get a lot of Travalla and Marlin in the North Ocean, but I get Stingrays in the Western Ocean.
    BONUS TIP ABOUT FISHING: Rowing the boat doesn't use up stamina, so you can stay out fishing until well after "Late" as long as you either (a) don't do a lot of long casts (which do use stamina) or (b) have enough food to refill your stamina after a couple of long casts. Best way to do it is to row right up next to where you see the big fish and then do a small cast just over the side of the boat. This uses almost no stamina (if any). When that spot is fished out, row to the next cluster of big fish and repeat. This lets you take care of farming, construction, side quests, etc. during the day and then go out fishing at night with no time limit.
    A BASIC ONE (UNLESS YOU'RE A BEGINNER) THAT I WISH I KNEW EARLIER: If you're struggling for ore in the early game, the big, gray-ish boulders (the rocks that are bigger and lighter-colored than the regular rocks) will give you 3-ish ores when you break them. Sometimes you get copper, sometimes tin. You almost always get at least a rock or two as well, and sometimes you get a weird, shiny stone that you can throw into a rock crusher to get more ore. In my early game, I ran all over the island looking for copper ore rocks before I realized you could break those big, gray ones and get tons of copper.
    LAST ONE: Keep at least one spare of each tin tool in storage somewhere. Early on, I'd break a tool and have to stop whatever I was doing for the night because John closes at 6pm and on Sundays. Whether you're using the tin tools or need them because the copper upgrades require th.

    Time only starts to flow only after getting the bug net. So you can put down both tents and visitor site! The time will also stop once again at midnight. You can use this time to cook any and all foraged stuff you got during the unlimited time you had to explore the map. I managed to get my foraging skill to lvl 20 by simply cleaning out the entire island, of anything forageable! It took about 2 hours.

    There is a way to pause your game until it's a game feature.
    EDIT: You can skip 1-3 and just type "resource monitor" in windows search and it should pop up, if you can't find it just do steps 1-3.
    1. Open Task Manager
    2. Click the Second Tab "Performance"
    3. Bottom left should be a blue link "resource monitor"
    4. Look for "dinkum-exe" should be on top, click the box left of "dinkum-exe" so the exe stays on top
    5. right click on "dinkum-exe" and suspend it.
    6. Take your break as long as you want, the longest I was afk, was over 30 minutes.
    7. after you are done taking your break just right click on dinkum-exe again and unsuspend it
    The game will be frozen while it's suspended, don't fred it's normal, just minimize the game BEFORE suspending if it bothers you.
    if you have any questions just ask.

    1) Allocating certain licenses in certain orders can make progress faster because of lower requirements and resources so be careful when leveling licenses that you don't need because you don't have to resources or you don't have to requirement to meet although you can buy it it's not the best idea.
    2) Save the shiny disc as much as possible when a certain person require it then given he will give lot money if you really need it.
    3) When exploring and find large rock(require T2 pick) always mine there chance get iron ore or spot gray shiny one this iron ore it's so rare.

    • @gekkobear2
      @gekkobear2 2 года назад

      Yes, this. I used a campfire and hunted crocodiles "late" as they will burn if they lunge or turn and head or tail crosses over the fire.
      3 full time burns takes them to "almost dead" and then get then 2 bat swings will give you full xp for the kill (note you'll slow later after 1 swing, so waiting for them to get tired helps a lot).
      Eat a bit to get stamina back up (so you run at full speed again), pick up your campfire, and keep hunting.
      Croc tooth bat makes hunting other stuff a bit easier and is still cheap.

    I get easily flustered with timed games and this one in particular was irritating me because I couldn't even take a break during conversations with visitors/residents, looking through my storage, sorting my inventory, etc.
    I don't know if this really is good advice or not, but here goes: At 12am the game clock stops moving forward. You take a stamina hit and any effort makes you walk slow (and technically, you could still do things that drain your characters stamina, but you'll spend just as much time eating cooked bush limes/bananas/etc. that it probably isn't worth it), but if you just want to plan out your town, set up fences, run around the island marking stuff, etc. you'll have all the time you want. Just go to bed to begin the next day. You don't even take a stamina/health/time hit when you start the next day!

  • @delvysdominguez7953

    Don’t sell a single beehives if you wanna make the Honey farm, you need a Queen Bee in order to craft the Bee House and only way to capture them is breaking open the Beehives and capturing the bees inside, is really hard to find one Queen Bee, don’t waste any chance, I have broken over a 100 Beehives and only got 2 Queen Bees, I guess the luck factor plays important role lol

    • @BoosterGames
      @BoosterGames  2 года назад +1

      I think its worth selling a few when you really need the money to slightly speed up the game. more money = more tools you can buy, more tools means more recourses you can gather in general, which means you can cut down more tree's to get more beehives. But it all comes down to personal preference

    • @holgualoxford3871
