I was sat in Coach A (Quiet Coach) on the 18:15 from London Paddington to Didcot Parkway on the 18/05/19 which left from platform 2.
I chose the Quiet Coach so I could make the most of this occasion.
Before I sort of preferred to sit in around the middle of an HST or locomotive-hauled train but now I've kind fallen in love with sitting in the coach next to the locomotive or Mark 3 coach by the power car!
I remember (9th January I think it was) watching an HST on platform 1 around the evening peak. I saw somebody sat in the single seat in the Quiet Coach (the HST was in reverse formation). So it was the back of the train. I bet that was a popular seat amongst rail enthusiasts who prefer forward facing seats like me (I've never sat in that single seat).
I know a Valenta or VP185 is nice to listen to onboard an MTU still has a nice touch (still an HST power car too!). It's a shame East Midlands Trains (soon to be East Midlands Railway) got rid of the Quiet Coach which Coach A is sadly a normal Standard Class coach.
On the XC HST's, the Quiet Zone stickers are on every window I believe.
