Hey, it's Kit! Thanks for the input you provided! I'm looking into changing my pool to only include sett when I have a more thorough understanding of the matchup so that I can primarily play a champion like urgot or camille who has very clear reference points! I thought it was awesome that you suggested finding inspiration in LoL media as I just last night saw another great teacher play and win in bronze with only one hand, that feat kicked me in the butt and now I've surely gotta do better!
One split feels more rewarding, improve the guild system allow rewards like Guild points and global rankings based on points earned, redeem skins, chromas, titles etc. Improve the social interaction aspect make it so you pull random guild mates automatically or register join same queue to play with guild members or have guild tournaments too many friends stopped playing cause they had no one to share their journeys ups and downs, give incentives like more points for playing with friends and guild mates to make people want to play together or just play more so others can see their achievements. Display global guild rankings fight to be in the best guilds for prestige, the higher your rank and elo, have more guild points gains to keep people wanting to climb or maintain their ranks. Just some random ideas came to me from listening to Curtis and Nathan's podcast, surprised there is not something similar already.
The system only targets the truly skilled league players, giving them losers queue, and it inflates all of the people that are bad at the game by giving them win streaks. It's just the way the system works, we have no agency at all. That's why so many streamers in high elo are just straight up boosted at the game. I'm 500 games hardstuck gold (clearly only because of the aforementioned system) and I personally play better than 95% of the streamers I watch. This is not hyperbole or exaggeration!! !!
@@SinnerBeforeGod 100% truth and not even worth verifying. This is the only reasonable explanation for my shortcomings and any evidence to the contrary is likely just a conspiracy against me personally.
Took 300 games and I finished p4 after finishing e4 before - so i never got back. And a lot of people didn't. I played basically everywhere from g4 to p2 and all of my games were half full emerald and diamond players. The variance definitely feels higher throughout the entire split between the gold and emerald players in the same lobbies, smurf queue not existing, and less time/more people playing less games. I also noticed mental was worse overall leading to more auto losses. Basically bad luck cooks your season. New champ cooks your season. The game is just so incredibly unstable for a myriad of reasons that the short time makes it unreasonably difficult and stressful to climb or even maintain
This is what Losers q is to me. Not exactly rigged to lose games, but its almost like the system is rigged to make you HAVE to play north of 200 games to make you climb back to where you were.
The frustrating thing with the 3 splits is that they said the mid season resets would be less harsh. What happened to that?? Going from emerald 1 to plat 4 is insane to me. That kind of reset is supposed to be once a year. I play more than most and still have trouble keeping up. It's a lot.
I ended last split master and this split it felt like I was nearly immediately master just playing a few games. It really helps I think that they made it so your placements can take you up the echelons of diamond now
Regarding how long it takes to “get back to your rank”. I personally tend to lose 400lp or so the last patch of every season from a combination of factors. I think objectively, the gameplay quality is worse, there’s more boosting, but also a lot of people who haven’t played hopping on and trying to make an end of season push. Of course not all the factors are external, I definitely react to the external factors by tilting, which makes it worse. I tend to get back to my end of season rank very quickly, but grinding up to my peak takes a couple hundred games usually. I’ve stopped playing the last patch of this season to hopefully avoid this issue next season. Another thing that affects each seasons climb disproportionately is initial placements. Getting unlucky in placements can cost you many extra games over the course of the season, though I’m not sure how this should be resolved.
Im glad we talked about this. This reset is exhausting. I got kicked from plat 3 to gold 4, and then i climbed to gold 2 going 43-40ish Now I'm showing as silver 4. My skill hasn't dropped that much. I wouldn't mind being reset 2-3 divisions between splits but this is pretty killer if I should be putting in 150 games a split
I think if they want to give people incentive to play while also avoiding the burnout of reclimbing each split (which I think is an overblown issue but still the fact is, people perceive it as an issue), my idea would be to do something like: Rank doesn't change between splits, BUT to earn your ranked reward, you need to play a certain number of games that split so at least people are incentivized to play. If it's a reasonable number of games it shouldn't be an issue. Rocket League does some similar sort of, they do have a rank reset but it doesnt really change your rank much, and then you have to get x number of wins to get your season rewards depending on your rank.
If they want to reset, it should just not be as extreme as it's been. Many people are taking nearly 50-60 wins to get back to their previous rank if they even get back due to various meta and ranked system changes.
Regarding the people who take a break from league for months, I am one of them! the TLDR, made my first climb to emerald this season, was very studious in my climb and stuff but I felt like I wasn't enjoying the game that much. So i've taken a few months break, going to skip next split and work on my fundamentals in normals (I feel like I dont focus on the win so much in normals but improvement) then go hard next season for diamond. I also work 9-6 full time so its hard for me to commit year round to hardcore league. I would prefer they go back to 2 splits but make them 5 1/2 months each
As far as getting back to previous rank ive found it only takes about 2 weeks of about 10-15 games, so about 20-30 games total, less if i have a lucky streak. That said this is for emerald tier, since the highest placement is capped, it probably takes longer for high diamond+ players.
The "soft reset" semestre to be -600LP for most People... yes, there are Hugo LP gains as long as you keep momentum, but you do need to keep the momentum. If you get a few "unlucky losses", climbing back must be around 50 game installation of 30
36:30 This is what quality limit testing actually looks like in practice. Not going in on plays with a 10% chance of success, hoping your mechanics carry you. But pushing yourself ever so slightly from what you are sure is possibly to what you think could be possible.
idk, if you ever watch Caps play solo queue this man is limit testing personified and half the time it looks like he's legitimately inting. It's fine to go for low % sucess plays to see how close it was if you're not sure. Your objective when limit testing is to calibrate your gut feeling of what is and isn't possible. Plays that start with you thinking "There's no way this works, right?" can have a lot of value because even when it fails you can see how close it was, and then later that's the kind of play you go for. By comparison, if you don't pull the trigger cause you're not confident in the play, you've learned nothing.
I'd like 2 splits. 3 is too much. 1 would be too long with no pre season (because the good thing now is there is no preseason.) Make each split's end line up with Worlds & MSI. I always find myself coming back to the game around those world events.
Last split I grinded to d1 over the last 2 weeks of the split, the new split started played a bit broke up with someone rage queued stopped playing decayed to e1, played a game to get back to diamond got ran down by a singed mid (didn't feel good played on smurfs till they were both d4), then swapped back to the first account and got that back to diamond before the end of the split because I didn't really care about this split. I've just been playing in an inhouse server for most of the split otherwise I just had more fun and less stress there.
nah I like 3 splits like it is right now. People really just want something to complain about and there will always be someone the system doesn't "fit". I like a fresh reset more often, taking 3-4 month break is way to long i think even casuals have less than that and that's probably where riot's stats came in and saw that. If i take a break from league it's usually no more than 3-5 weeks and that's until the other game or hobby gets boring. Then u comeback and it really scks to comeback to league and it's "pre-season" where ranked "doesn't matter" and nobody cares. This is really good change imo where every single day is tryhard ranked day and u can take a few weeks off whenever ur bored and comeback when ur ready.
Ngl, I don't care about seasonal rewards, what I want is to be able to climb in a manner that shows my growth as a player that is more reflected in the face rank. I don't care about the face rank, but I care more about the face rank than any of the victorious skins, or a nice banner, etc. I would play regardless of reward, I want to see my growth be better reflected in a timely manner that doesn't feel like a waste of time.
They still don't have an answer to ranked reset ruining matchmaking for extended periods of time. So long as it's an issue, the fewer splits we have the better. Ideally 1, but I was okay with 2. 3 is EXCESSIVE. It takes a month and sometimes 2 for the ladder's matchmaking to stabilize and have games not feel like coinflip stomps. Having 3 splits means potentially half of the year is unplayable. They need to kill 3 splits asap.
Ive been master since the past 2 years, and after 58games im 41% WR in Emerald 2. 😂 I love playing and improving but my ego is taking a toll. When I analyze my games, Im really playing well, its just unlucky + meta adjustment.
3 splits is too much, but everyone also hated the long break before the next season started and that’s why it’s a 3rd. Another thing is although I think 3 is too much, I also understand it’s essentially the same. The thing with league players is they don’t know how to rewire their brain with change. Yeah you have 3 splits, but you gain more LP and no promos. So in previous years it would take you probably 5 months to climb to your rank, but now it can take a month, maybe even a couple weeks. So many people don’t see that they complained about the grind and then riot basically gave them more LP to climb in a shorter time and it’s still not enough. Go back to 1 full season then and remove emerald, bring back promos, and everything before. I 100% know people would complain again because now they won’t have their new shiny rank that OBVIOUSLY shows they improved 😂 😂😂 2 splits is the max though and that should be fine.
If it is that hard to move up a division or if it's not "hard" and it's just time intensive and the Majority of Players will only move up 1 division then maybe add incentives for the division change and not the actual rank achieved. (If I move up 1 division = X reward) (Move up 2 divisions = X and Y Reward) (Move up 3 divisions = X and Y and Z reward). Apex needs different incentives.
Validating to hear someone defend the nuance and mastery of Darius, as a millionaire Darius Emerald (started in 2020, please don't judge) player, I still get a lot of shit saying my champ is braindead.
I play Gwen and Jax and Akali and always had trouble whenever I tried Darius. He's more than his combo. Try winning a game after laning phase with him, people. Not easy.
As someone who works 40+ hours a week in an office and has limited bandwidth for extracurriculars like league I find the 3 splits per year to be far too much. It's not just a time thing either, like yeah I could probably get back to my main rank pretty quickly (last split it only took me ~ 10 games to make it back to emerald since my MMR was quite high), but there's a real lack of motivation for even pursuing a rank climb in the first place with the full knowledge that in a few short months it will reset. Also I fell really bad for pros. They're about to drop all the new changes after the current (worlds) patch and what are pro players supposed to do? Not play soloqueue? How can they possibly ship all of these dramatic changes right as worlds is about to happen? By the time they hit the stage, we will all be playing a completely different game. This whole schedule is just ratfucked. I don't know why they wanted to jump from 2 splits to 3 without even giving the changes time to shake out. I would really like a revertion back to having 2 splits and an actual preseason for the month of december so that we can actually test things out and have a stable game by the time the season resets. The current system feels like change for the sake of change and its leading me to burnout with the game.
I don't really get what your issue regarding pros is, care to elaborate? Afaik pros play on tournament realm, especially scrims, and torunament realm can have an entirely different patch running than live servers?
Yeah sure, if you are studying something where your degree is basically a participatiion trophy or something similar, then yes. For people who have other things to do in their life than play 5 games per day (and mor eon weekends), that's not true at all. It still takes hundreds of games for statistics to kick in. Not to mention that "statistics" as an argument at this point I feel shifted from "every game there are 5 possible feeders on the other team, but only 4 on yours if you don't feed" which was a very valid argument for large game numbers, to "every game there are 5 possible smurfs on the enemy team, but only 4 possible smurfs on your team, assuming you are not one" and that's another huge issue.
The 3 splits didn't really change anything. We just call pre-season split 3 and slightly adjust the lengths of each split. The 2 splits were only 4.5 months, now they are 4. Not really a big change.

In terms of camera control, unlocked + spacebar is the optimal and only way to play all 5 roles. Fully locked and never centering the camera both have downsides. Alois, the toplane riven main plays like this, and so should you
lots of normies who peaked in the most inflated split in lol history 2023 s2 believe they should just be grandfathered into their past peaks. get good and play the game and improve. stop crying and being dookie
you guys often say that youll be placed in your "true rank" after a couple hundred games or so.. atm im at 300 games played this split and in Emerald 4 but at a 58% winrate.. i feel like im still not close to my true rank and 50% WR but the climb is too exhausting to continue and find that ceiling
Honestly make an alt and if ur truly that good you will place around plat 2 atleast with like +30 lp gains. Also i get that u may be 58% wr but from a player that makes emerald look like bronze, you definitely still have so much to improve on. Emerald-diamond 2 is the same skill level from my experience. If u cant get out that ditch through your own skill, then keep reviewing and possibly play the right champs.
@@sticcboykenny I agree I have much to learn, I'm not saying I should skip ahead or that could hold my own in diamond, just that the climb itself is too slow to test out whether I (or someone else) can or not
@@zeit6614The goal shouldn’t be finding out what rank u belong in. Just play good league of legends. My recommendation to u is never allowing urself to play a game on autopilot. Keep the sessions short. Putting in 2-3 high quality ranked games a day where ur fully focused and playing with intention and accessing all the information possible goes a long way for ur improvement and win rate. Youll see why u are losing the games u lose. Obviously some games are completely out of ur control, but a good player realizes that your single misplay couldve changed the result of the game.
The rank reset is already soft enough that I see people who reached Diamond in Season 13 playing just 10 games in the next two splits and still staying in Emerald 1. However, 20 games isn't enough to maintain the skill level they had almost a year ago. If Riot make the reset even softer, it might worsen matchmaking even more.

u play good enough, you'll climb
people that complain about whatever it is the reason they're not climbing are crybabies
Nathan’s introductions sound like he’s about to surprise us with a trip to Disney World. Curtis’ introductions sound like he’s about to break up with us.
In terms of camera control, unlocked + spacebar is the optimal and only way to play all 5 roles. Fully locked and never centering the camera both have downsides.
Alois, the toplane riven main plays like this, and so should you
Bruh. It's okay to be afraid to die. You can say in moments you are afraid to die LMAO
lots of normies who peaked in the most inflated split in lol history 2023 s2 believe they should just be grandfathered into their past peaks. get good and play the game and improve. stop crying and being dookie
you guys often say that youll be placed in your "true rank" after a couple hundred games or so.. atm im at 300 games played this split and in Emerald 4 but at a 58% winrate.. i feel like im still not close to my true rank and 50% WR but the climb is too exhausting to continue and find that ceiling
Matter of fact lmk if ur interested in running some games on my diamond smurf account😂 i can lend u
@@sticcboykenny I agree I have much to learn, I'm not saying I should skip ahead or that could hold my own in diamond, just that the climb itself is too slow to test out whether I (or someone else) can or not
💀
First :D
