      You are actually not supposed to have any heat for them, not unless you are planning on heating them always and people up here never do that. They actually do much better with cold vs heat but at his age, he needs to stay out of any drafts and have a deep bed of hay or straw.

    Give yourself enough flexibility in your enclosure to get the loader bucket close to shovel manure. I raised a steer in a small building and the urine and manure adds up fast and can get out of control.

    Just out of curiosity, and maybe you've already answered this question - Do you not like cordless circular saws? Think it would be more convenient than carrying a portable power station and extension cord around. Dewalt, Milwaukee, and Makita all have great options available. Awesome video btw. I enjoy them all Joe.

    If ya have a large dog crate, ya could haul the calf in it. We used the all the time for grown goats n baby calves. Also, if you bought the twins ya could use the bull once, send him to freezer camp. Buy ya another bull for breeding, including the other twin heffier.

    You might want to think about getting a calf blanket and adding some supplemental heat. The baby’s thermoregulation system takes a minimum of 45 days to start working properly and it can get chilled very easily. During extreme cold it will need extra milk in order to maintain its body temperature. Perhaps Mesa could be in there with him.

    • @Norton-67
      @Norton-67 Месяц назад +1

      And during that 45 days they can get pneumonia really easy…try it eliminate as much drafts as you can..

  • @blew2424

    A heifer calf born twin to a bull calf is called a Free MARTIN….AND IF MESSA has a bull calf no way you should raise the calf thinking it could breed his mother…seems like it would be a lot less expensive to just breed MESSA artificially rather than than having a bull around the farm.

    • @NorthernSeclusion
      @NorthernSeclusion  Месяц назад

      He only has to be around long enough to breed Mesa and then he can be processed.
