I was glad to see in this episode that parents are being prosecuted. I hope we can see more of that in cases like this. I am not sure why Winston has never been prosecuted for the role he has played in child trafficking.

I live in Canada , Your Government needs to do something about these Religious Group's, Example The Church of Scientology has Tax exempt status and is Protected under the the Religious 501C, They have Scientology in Canada , but it is not given Tax exemption here and are treated as a organization, not a religion..., Your Government needs to shut down these so called Religion's and Protect the Children...This just Makes Me so angry and super Sad...

Yeah and I agree that something needs to be done, but we have to be very careful, because we don't want to end up like Canada in other aspects...
Like how Trudeau did that emergency order during the trucker protest, how the ridiculous carbon taxes keep getting raised even though the people don't want it, a lot of the new speech laws, and now arresting people who are speaking out against an adult man swimming and sharing a locker room with minor girls.
Plus Canada really struggled with protecting basic religious freedom during covid, where they would arrest preachers who are preaching outside, and women allow people to worship the way they wanted to. It's those types of ways that the government violates people's religious freedoms, that makes people afraid of reasonable laws involving religion.
If people stopped trying to violate people's religion like that, it would be a lot easier for these cults to stop slipping through the cracks
America's a lot of problems with churches that exploit loopholes, but you have to be very careful with a government being allowed to choose which religions are real & which ones are cults

    • @claudeyaz
      @claudeyaz 7 месяцев назад +8

Canada doesn't have a very good track record either,on not violating people's religion and freedom of worship I mean we all remember what extremes they went to during covid..
Almost like governments are really bad at almost everything.
But the tax loopholes is bleh. But tbh if they didnt rxist..they would find other ways to fund

Unless they are directly breaking laws, our freedom of religion prevents government intereference in religious activities. The FLDS broke many laws including child endangerment, child SA, misuse of food stamps/government programs, etc which is why they were busted but still exist. The US exists because of the religious persecution that was happening in England.

Samuel Bateman pled guilty to 2 of the charges this spring as part of a deal (conspiring to kidnap and bring children across state lines for sex). He only agreed to plead guilty if all the others charged also pled guilty. This has taken a lot more time, and his sentencing keeps getting delayed. Right now it’s set for Oct 29th, 2024. I don’t know when he might go to trial for the many more horrible offenses.
I would appreciate it if you two did a video on him if you think it’s appropriate. I was wondering why the government agreed to give him any sort of plea deal, considering what he’s done, but now I’m thinking it’s because he’s the key to all the defendants who are still followers. If they aren’t cooperating, it could be really hard to move the cases forward. I don’t know that he gets out of the deal in terms of sentence reduction or dropped charges, but it would have to be something big enough for him to want to take it.

I can understand that a "dad" that has also more than one wife couldn't say no. It is all so twisted and insane that it is really hard to believe that no one spoke against this. Of course the fact that in the usa homeschooling is allowed puts children in even greater danger since they are isolated. Thank you for your wonderful work.

Sam and Melissa, Don't know if you are familiar with Law and Crime Network on RUclips but they have a few police videos recorded when Bateman was caught and arrested. They show the inside of the trailer and the police interviewing the "wives" (children). The dates for those are 12/21/22, 12/22/22, 2/1/23 and 3/8/23. They also have a video done on 3/21/24 after Moroni Johnson came forward and they interview a Rick Allen Ross and Steven Hassan PhD.

Yes, I have a book upstairs written by a lawyer about the legal side of the Canada cases. It was so unwise for Warren Jeffs to start marrying girls off who were below legal age. The marriages (mostly being second marriages of a man already married ) are not "marriages" in law in most countries, just cohabitation, so technically is over age or under age relations. In the UK our age of consent is 16 years (and until very very recently in England you could marry at 16 with parents' permission ie same age as age of consent for s ex, but we changed that to 18 for marriage (and kept 16 for s ex) which seems a bit inconsistent to me. If someone wants to be married at 16 they can go to Scotland which has a different age. This is completely different from what Jeffs was doing - 12 and 13 is far too young, before puberty for some girls, completely unacceptable in 2024.

In some states it is legal for children as young as 13 to get married with parental permission! The law needs to be changed in all states to 18.

With all the fertility struggles people are faced with these days, what happens if a wife (or the husband) can't have children? I wonder, if it is on the wifes end, is she treated differently? Is adoption an option for FLDS? If it is on the husbands end...just curious as I personally don't want children in the future and know how difficult it is for some people to conceive. Thank you!

I read Carolyn Jessop's book, and she talks about how one of her husband's wives was only able to have one or two children (I don't remember the exact number), and she was basically treated like a servant. She was also mentally ill and not allowed to seek medical treatment. She was mentally and emotionally ab*sed. The book is called Escape: A Memoir.

Those who teach that as soon as a girl starts menstruating she is eligible to be married because she can start having children like this passage.
    1 Corinthians 7:36-38
"But if any man think that he behaveth himself uncomely toward HIS VIRGIN, IF SHE PASS THE FLOWER OF HER AGE, and need so require, let him do what he will, he sinneth not: let THEM marry. Nevertheless, he that standeth steadfast in his heart, having no necessity, but hath power over his own will, and hath so decreed in his heart that he will keep HIS VIRGIN, doeth well. So then he that GIVETH HER IN MARRIAGE doeth well; but he that GIVETH HER NOT in marriage doeth better."
