I mean I can understand pulling out a dart to unjamm it, or de-priming a blaster. But the thought has never crossed my mind to take something apart in store 😅
Either we fix it and it works and gets sold, or it sits broken, doesn't get sold, and gets thrown into the trash compactor. I thought goodwill had a commitment to being "green"
I stand by my take. I'm not saying take apart a blaster, but so many end up in thrift stores because they have a simple jam or a stuck prime. Things that only take a second to fix but could really make some kid down the line very happy. Regardless, I'll take my crown as the hottest of takes.
I recently thrifted a broken blue stryfe, one of the switches was a dud. I took it home, replaced the switch, and realize I don’t have space for another stryfe. Donated it back to the store the next day. Hope I can get some kid or adult into the hobby
i think fun blasters are more important than performance blasters, like the barrelbreak isnt war effective but its fun. since nerfing is more about having fun spewing foam and not just tagging people
ok but i think I'd rather have an in-between. otherwise you just get the chinese replica blasters that barely work and are just stand-ins for the gel blasters they were built from
I have fun when my blaster works, I'd love a gimmicky blaster that hits hard enough and is accurate enough. Like I'm currently looking at a bread machine build, fully impractical but would be fun if it shot lasers
Nerf from 2005 all the way up to Fall 2019 was fantastic. Summer 2016, 2017, 2018 and even 2019 were great. Summer 2018 especially brought us the Evader, Thunderhawk, Infinus, Scravenger, Prometheus, Accutrooper and Modulus Longstrike
I remember getting the big 4 i wanted 2018 with the modulus tri strike, raptorstrike, thunderhawk, and of course the infants. I really miss what they had going. I think the biggest issue now is that n series doesn't even use regular darts which kinda alienates me from using them.
I agree with the first take. Sometimes there’s a dart jammed in there so I’ll clear it. Sometimes the release button needs to be pressed, so I’ll do it. If a blaster is primed, I’ll unprime it. If there’s a dart still in a smart AR blaster, I’ll take it out. Some little kid will have a better experience with that blaster.
I stand by my opinion as my Longshot works and doesn’t have a cracked plunger tube, though I agree X-Shot should have put better quality in the Longshot, even if it meant raising the price.
The marketing team knows how many they can expect to sell at what price point and $10 is a big increase on something that's $30. They knew some of the plunger tubes would crack, they knew it would be mainly enthusiasts who had that problem, and they knew enthusiasts are a small fraction of their sales. Making something more expensive and less appealing to their core demographic to satisfy a fringe demographic is poor marketing.
Hot take: slamfire in performance blasters sucks. It shouldn’t exist. It causes problems in otherwise great blasters. Like jumping the catch or losing deprime ability.
As someone who has a whole bunch of blasters that have slam fire, I never had such “issues”. You must not be using the blaster properly. Either that, or you somehow got a bad one.
@ well I play on a pro team so I would hope that I know how to use the blasters properly… 🤣 But also, I’m willing to bet you glossed over the word “performance” in my original comment. I’m not talking about an xshot crusher here… I’m talking DZ tomcat, gameface trion, xyl unicorn etc. and above. At that power level and purpose, issues arise both mechanically and strategically. But one thing ALL slamfire blasters have in common rather they are performance or stock is the no deprime thing (even when you remove internal locks) … so uhhhhh I stand by what I originally said and I have 100s of hours of play testing to back it up🤷♂️
We need more unique blasters. everything dart zone and nerf make is all the same. we need more blasters that dont already exist in some way like a new ammo type or a new mechanism (lever action, dual stage trigger, break action.)
Nerf has done all of those, actually The Slingfire and Scravenger are Lever Action, the Roughcut has a Dual Staged Trigger, The Sledgefire is Break Action, and the Barrel Break is Dual Trigger AND Break Action
Funny thing, the Clips vs. Mags thing has now caused the opposite problem, where people are calling things that _are_ clips "magazines" just because actual magazines are more ubiquitous and therefore tend to get more spotlight in the clips vs. mags discussion. Edit: should point out I meant this applies universally, from blasters to airsoft to video games to real steel. People have done a complete 180 on the clips and mags thing.
High performance blasters are cool, but the "average" FPS is at the point where getting hit by them just feels bad. Plus, Nerf is becoming more performance-oriented in general.
Master keys are best. We need to see more of them from Nerf, Dart zone, X shot, etc., what happened. The OOD little rocket family is the best example of a master key.
The day AEBS become cheap and mainstream will be a sad day. Springers, with high power and accuracy, and flywheelers, less powerful but fast, create a fun balance. AEBS will overshadow both, making the hobby all about performance and losing the creative, playful spirit that makes Nerf special.
I don't think AEBs will be some wholly overpowered force that pushes out both flywheels and traditional springers. AEBs are not a unification of flywheels and springers, they're a compromise. AEBs will never be as fast as flywheelers or as powerful as maunual springers because that would require motors with RPM and torque so high that they can't be driven effectively by the kinds of batteries used in the hobby, not to mention gearboxes that can withstand that torque. As a sort of generalist approach, yeah AEBs will be great, but if you want a hyper-fast dart hose, flywheels will still be king, and if you want those accurate, truly high power blasters, manual springers will stay on top of that market.
11:10 damn, if only people did that with every company they dislike instead of creating legestlation just because a company did something that made your life slightly uncomfortable.....
Why all the hate for mega…I love my mega blasters👍🏻 and I found OG demolisher rockets NIP in a 3 pack on Amazon a few months ago👍🏻 perfect for my Fortnite GL!!
Can I give another. I have to say I need to know what newer blasters are even worth while they all seem terrible in my opinion just saying also the battle racer is amazing I will die on that hill also I hate half darts I think there annoying

Now that you have elaborated that is a very good take. I've saved so many Crossbolts by just pulling out a dart from the jam door
yeah, i think people wildly misunderstood. obviously don’t disassemble stuff, but unjamming or clearing an obstruction is common courtesy.

Agreed but makes sense in something like a shotgun. Though that's not usually performance/comp either.
Real steel comp shooting would never have something with that mechanism. And originally it was made into RS shotguns.

The elite 2.0 motoblitz is better than some nstrike elite blasters.
