i wouldn't call him 'unimportant', every characters important in their own way: t-dog as responsible for merle cutting his hand off, he saved merle by locking the doors on the roof he was handcuffed to (and merle plays a pretty big role in series 3), t-dog realised that randall went missing (because shane took randall into the woods), he is one of the 5 people who helps clear out the prison, hes the reason axel and oscar stayed in the prison and he died by saving carols life :3

I heard that td of was originally supposed to have a bigger role in season 2, but the writers severely reduced his role to make room for daryl, who go bumped up to a main role in season 2

Season 2, about 16 hours, and t-dog talks for 5 minutes.
It feels like the writers really got lazy with his character. He is the only main character of the initial group who has no background, no past, no family or whatever. The entire time he was just kind of there and felt like a loose bolt in the structure that was never tightened.
T dog is the definition of a forgotten character, wish we got more of him

It matters to me because 1) when he did talk, it was interesting, 2) He's listed as a main character, 3) He was really the only black person in the show, and all he did was hang around in the background 4) They made me THINK he was gonna be more important, and then played me by killing him.

While I would have loved him to have some more development in the show, not every character has to be going through some sort of crisis. It's the same with Rosita after Season 4. Still, as my favourite character, it would be great to do something other that be a generic black guy.
There wasn't as much character development for t dogg as there was for Rick, Shayne, Daryl or Glenn. he was more of a supporting character

The point I was making is that there are many black characters on the show, not just T-dog. Morgan played a huge role for the short time he was on screen. And T-Dog is a MINOR character. The show does not revolve around him.

Weird they built up the beef between him and Merle for it to stretch out for 2+ seasons , only for him to killed off before he and Merle “reunites” and have that huge “settling the score” fight. Also weird how they killed him off just like that, only to be replaced by Oscar who like him just stands around and says the same lines. Being a TV exclusive character, I would think they can have more freedom with him and and keep him around.
T-Dog has avoided the Curse of the Black Man thus far by keeping his head down in Season 1. In Season 2 he grew bolder, and by Season 3, the Curse demanded a sacrifice. T-Dog has been able to live by sacrificing 2 black men in the very same episode they appeared. Unless he stops drawing attention, he will soon be the only black man left, and the Curse will turn to him.
i love tdawg, he was this shadowy bit character that somehow managed to survive, merely by being completely innocuous and invisible. then finally once he starts speaking up and acting all big, BAM he dies horribly. rest in peace you sweet ebony angel. :')

In the first season when he was found injured I was just waiting for him to die. And until the previous episode I waited for him to die. It's like the writers totally forgot to kill him and then left him without any role in the show.
