- Welcome to another PedalerzMN video, today we continue on the journey with the Poseidon X as I share my thoughts on the bike over the first 200 miles. I absolutely love this bike and I highly recommend you get one if you're thinking about it. With that being said things weren't perfect and if you want to find out why you'll have to watch the video to find out.

My Poseidon X arrives this Friday, I'm super pumped. I plan to use it mainly for road cycling, and was wondering if the stock wheels could fit more road suitable tires. What would be the "thinnest" tires one could fit on these rims?
I’m sure you could fit 32 or maybe even 28 on them
How long does shipping take
@@nickmarchi4304 I just bought mine Sunday. I’m on the East coast and it ships from the west coast. Fedex says it will be here Friday. So 5 business days give or take
@@nickmarchi4304 took about 6 days for me. They're in California and I'm in Texas.
Jack Thomas, did you figure out what's the thinnest tire you can fit onthere?
Great video. You gave an honest and useful appraisal of a new cycling brand that was both fact based and punctuated with your own practical knowledge and opinion. Thanks again for the video and the effort you've put into your channel. You should do more of these.
Man, that was probably the best review I’ve seen on this bike. Thanks!
My X had the same issue when turning the bars, and it was the same solution. I got a 42 tooth chainring which gave me better top end and didn’t hurt the low climbing end much at all. Put some Ritchey flared drops on it (a little shallower drop) and a Deda stem as well as an Ergon saddle and Shimano SPD clip less pedals. I got the X to get into gravel with the intent to upgrade, but I’m so happy with it that I’m just upgrading as I go. I’ve also got the head tube paint issue, but I don’t worry too much about it since I ride the hell out of this thing and it’s going to show wear as a result. I take it on group road rides as well as dirt and gravel. I’m into my second year riding this bike and I’m impressed with how it performs. It’s a real workhorse of a bike.
I ordered one last night . I know all about them they were just unobtainable through covid now finally they're back in stock so heck yeah I got one
Hey man, did they ship the bike? or do you know how long do you need to wait for shipment?
@@lostman893 it's already here I haven't even open the box
@@treyhorn5645 cool! have fun!
Well done sir. I greatly appreciate the thorough/thoughtful review. Def helped me decide to pull the trigger on this bike. Cheers!
Glad to hear, thanks!
Looks like Posiden has started to provide protective stickers to prevent wear on the paint that was mentioned as a downside in this video. Nice work on Posidens part.
Two years late but thanks for this review! I jumped on a 2023 Poseidon Redwood. My opinion is much like yours on the X. They did grease my headset, but I had to adjust it in that it was so tight that the steering stuck in the direction you placed the wheel in. My largest quality control issue is I that I had to shim out my rear rotor (no matter how the caliper is adjusted on frame, or pistons are backed out, or cable is adjusted) it always, always, always rubs on the inside pad without a 1.5mm shim to correct it. 😂 Return it because of this? The shim was less than two dollars. It is the principle of the matter, though!
Cable rub on paint is very common. Thicker paint will not solve the problem. This is what they make frame saver tape for. You can get it in clear, place it on the frame where ever there is cable rub and the problem is solved. Just an FYI, it is not a great idea to clamp your top tube, or any frame tube in your work stand. Always best to use the seat post. It is designed to be clamped and if it were damaged it is easy to replace. A top tube, not so much.
Thanks for the review. Just ordered one of these today. Super pumped to get it! Hoping I get it next week some time. Fingers crossed.
Great vid. Thanks very much for taking the time.
I'm in Michigan, I agree I need a slightly bigger chain ring. It's just geared a bit low for me. They're a California company so it makes sense out West but in the Midwest, I need a little more speed and a little less climbing power.
Which chain ring you suggest?
Just ordered this bike can’t wait until I get it. Great review!!! Happy to see that flag in the background 💪!!!
Great video man! You totally sold me on Poseidon, and I received my X two weeks ago and I love it...so thanks!
I was wondering if you made that conversion to a 42T chain ring? I'm having the same issue with spending most of my time in the last few gears, and want to up-size. Also, would you have any recommendations on a chain ring? Cheers!
I'm actually about to do it here this week. I have been super busy sadly but I have it it just needs to go on with a new chain. I replaced my crankset entirely but when I get home I can try to find some chainrings to recommend. Make sure the BCD matches the stock cranks if that's what you are using
Nice review man. How tall are you and what size did you go with?
X2
@@OIIIIIIIO.17 how tall are you? Does X2 mean XL (extra large)?
Nice video, thanks for sharing so much. Can I ask how tall are you, curious about the 56 dimensions. I know it's more about inseam, but just as a rough guide...I'm 5'11" and thinking of going for the Medium size, as I like my fit a bit smaller typically. Thanks again!
My wife is 5’9 and just got her flat bar x and loves the fit. She has long legs
i bought a titan and got an ultegra groupset for under $900. So a full ultegra except wheels for under $1400 is pretty sweet.
I have a 2019 Poseidon X (large). Just measured the stem, which I replaced, but stock is 110mm. I replaced with a lighter weight 90mm stem and love it.
Awesome video. My boy and I are gonna get this bike. Thanks
Super rad!
Strongly debating one of these or a specialized diverge base, nice video
Tough call, it's a choice between value for your money and resale value/ shop maintenance plan. Right now I feel like Poseidon is still small enough that their bikes might not hold the resale value that something from Specialized would. That being said I feel you get more bike for your money with the Poseidon. Another benefit of the Specialized is the shop assembly and likely inclusion of a free year of maintenance.
Thanks for the info. Putting mine together today!
im looking for this brand come out in my country, but realize there is only marin, bend, geometric brand..this quite a bike that i really want
Dope video.
I also discovered that the 38 teeth upfront is a teeny bit too small as I often ride on the smallest back ring - just a situation that would cure if my terrain becomes a little rougher and I therefore would change to a larger back ring. BUT - if, when in that smallest ring setting, I stop pedaling, I hear a klunk from the bottom bracket area. Then if I increase to a larger ring followed by using the smallest ring again, there’s no klunk (for a while). Overall, I love this bike and wouldn’t miss my other two if they disappeared.
Yeah mine isn't really too happy in the top gear as well I have noticed I don't use my top gear that often but I'm not sure what is causing that, sorry!
Nice review!! Regarding the top tube height, can I ask your inseam measurement?
You should do a review of that amazon stand you put the poseidon i have been wondering if there any good. .
I have one. I'm happy with it. I don't do a lot of bike maintenance but it makes all the little adjustments and chain cleaning I have to do so much easier. Unless, you're trying to fix bikes commercially, it should serve your needs. Even if you are fixing a bunch of bikes, I don't know why it wouldn't hold up for quite a while.
I have that stand. I'm building a carbon frame bike and was going to borrow a friend's stand, but this amazon item was well-priced, well-reviewed...so I bought it and it's been great. Easy to assemble, easy to adjust, the adjustment hardware is pretty stout, the tubes are beefy - perfect for occasional home use. It folds up so it's easy to store. If I were a bike mechanic I'd opt for something heavier, but it's been great for me, definitely recommend it.
How tall are you and inseam? I'm 5'10 with 32.5 inseam and I'm debating between the Medium or the Large.
I'm 6ft but with a 30" inseam. Large might be perfect for you otherwise you can always throw a longer stem on the medium. I like my gravel bikes to run big but that's because I'm mostly torso (short legs)
@@PedalerzMN Thanks for the respond. I went ahead and got the large before they went out of stock
@@Rali272 how did the large work out? I’m having the same debate and basically the same measurements as you
@@westboundt4793 large was perfect
@@PedalerzMN Funny, my son is about 5'11 but with a 30" inseam. Seems proportioned like you. I'm 5' 9" with a 32" inseam and my latest bikes are 52..53cm.
Great review! Thanks
is it fast on the street?
I'd leave the stem alone, but if comfort is an issue, make her comfy!
Yeah I'm not sure, I wouldn't call it uncomfortable but I definitely would be a little more comfortable with the bars just a little further away. I'm swapping cranks soon and that will force me to raise my seat a little (shorter cranks). If the bars still feel too close then I will swap stems but it's nothing that needs to be rushed
This bike is only available in North America as far as I know
How tall are you and is the 56 a large for Poseidon?
Yeah, I'm a little over 5' 11" I think I maybe would have went medium but overall I got my large to fit me well!
Would like to ask how tall you are
6 feet tall with short legs lol
What are you looking at for a bike that swings more towards a mountain bike PedalerzMN?
So... I have a Surly Krampus that I was gonna build up for that purpose but I have been trouble finding myself a hardtail so sadly in some ways I might be temporarily giving up on Gravel bike #2 and using that bike for an MTB build.
Down the road who knows I might end up converting the Krampus to a monster cross rig otherwise I might pick up something else for that. I have been riding the X on singletrack with 27.5 wheels and it actually slays haha!
“tahlking” pardon my midwest accent picking up on that
Oh no! You are riding a gravel bike without all of the "gravel" jerseys and tight shorts and aerodynamic shoes! lol.
I asked Louis on their group and it is a 90mm stem and the bars are similar to that of a FSA Adventure compact bar. My Poseidon didn’t come lubed up in the fork steerer so I’d add that and carbon paste to the fork and headset if I were you.
Edit: just noticed you said that 😂
Good to know and thanks for the tip haha!
