That Rings into Clouds semi-modular would sale BIG TIME
The reason behringer had to work with her is because the open source code is licensed under the GPL which does not allow for commercial use. This means they had to get a license directly from Emily. Very smart of her.
I wonder how the situation with the Behringer modules differs from the MicroFreak. I remember Arturia catching flak for _implying_ it got significant input from Emily.
When I saw Grind, I was more surprised that they announced it before the long awaited Spice has entered the market. It been so long that I went ahead and got an actual Moog Subharmonicon. I am considering their Model 15, though, as that's a significant drop in price and size vs a Grandmother.
The Plaits engine was made open source. You don't need to work with anybody to use it.
oh yeaaahhhh. Where's my Rings into Clouds box then?! PRIORITIES PEOPLE!!
@@JAdeWii_ That would be cool. I never could tame Beads, and wished I'd gotten Clouds instead.
@@riseofthemachine2623yeah, beads is pretty ruthless to use.
When it works its delicious, but every other time im thinking about selling
@@marizuokereke7347 it is but it's gpl which requires you license directly with the copyright owner (Emily) to use it commercially.i hope she made out well in the deal
@@riseofthemachine2623I loved Beads! From my experience with Clouds - Beads is definitely Clouds 2.0 really solid.
behringer neutron is still the best semi modular synth on the market
not the proton?
@@RealityShiftUK i haven't tried proton, but it looks like it has less utility stuff than neutron
Wild. I have the last Shruti. Some of the parts were just a BOM from parts in drawers at Mutable. Old days! 😂
["BAY-rinjer" or "BEAR-rinjer"] :) thanks for talking about it... Thomann is saying in a couple months for under €200...
'16 voice poly chain' is a bit misleading imo , as its a (mostly) monophonic device by itself (if you get 16 units , you can 'poly chain' them tho)
At least there shouldn't be any tuning issues with this one like with the Model D. Might be interesting.
A polychain could as well partially replace the way to buggy MiniFreak.
I'll admit to being excited about this one. Digi oscillators get hate from the purists, but I like them for their flexibility. Plus, you can load DX7 sysex patches into this thing. And, considering how many free patches are out there - plus editing with Dexed - the possibilities are endless.
The polychained version might become a serious competition for the way to buggy Arturia MiniFreak IF THEY DO IT RIGHT. 🤞🏻
what are the major bugs? is it just the MiniFreak or MicroFreak too?
@@crnkmnky
I have listed everything in Arturia's forum and stopped at about 10 (2 of the threads have been closed by them). I am sure they are way more, but I stopped out of pure disappointment of the device.

A completely stupid one: not being able to set pitch shift below 60 cents. I am not sure what their developers and testers do, I would fire all of them.
This one I am going to buy... I heard we have to wait for it 3-6 months :/
I'm getting the Behringer Voicoder synth next week. I'm not sure if it was a great choice but man I love those old 80's synths...
I have the TD-3-MO and it's awesome
I thought about it... finally decided to go with Roland TB-3. Maybe next time will be also TD-3-MO ;)
I'm starting to want one now
Man, I just sank $100 into a Behringer Pro VS Mini, now they come out with this new box. No fair.
The problem for us in the USA, is that these things are announced waaaaay in advance, and then when they finally show up in Europe, they aren't available in the USA for a long time after, and then only limited stock.
That said, I love all my Behringer gear, and am looking forward to the day, when previously announced gear, arrives on our shores.
I sometimes order stuff from Thomann but the shipping is like $40+.
Even with shipping, it's the cheapest way to get certain eurorack modules though (Doepfer, Rides in the Storm).
@@boriscat1999 I was about to say that 40 bucks is a steal, but the price tag being what, 200 USD or so? Yeah I get it, that's fairly high. Sadly that's kind of par for the course across the industry, it takes a fair bit of time for equipment to travel around the globe.
@@boriscat1999 yes, I have also resorted to buying from Australia, and Japan, to get some of my desired modules, when unavailable here in the US.
But I will wait for most items, as I already have lots to play with :-)
@@minhuang8848 we Americans are spoiled, and think the world revolves around us 😆 🌎
Not exactly. The units will be sold out instantly. So most possible EU customers have to wait as well
The Behringer 2022 and future line is DOPE. Nuff said. 🎹
I’ll wait for the Moog version.
😂 u gone be waittttiiinnnggggg 😂
Was könnte es kosten?
CareBehrs and Behringer Bros unite!!!!
I have a bunch of Behringer stuff. It's cheap and good. Many get upset every time they come out with clone of a vintage synth, but I think a lot of the originals just aren't a realistic proposition on price and/or maintenance costs. So you get a B clone which is decently priced, very similar in sound AND you get to learn the workflow of that particular synth. The last I think is very handy.
Now, some of B's business practices (clones of equipment currently being manufactured/lawsuits etc) are very not good. But that is a separate issue.
If one washing machine company copies the innovations of another washing machine model no one cares. There isn’t some rule in life that you can only copy vintage washing machines that are no longer sold. Cloning is fine and everyone who bitches about it is dumb.
Where there is a legitimate question around Behringer is all the other stuff. Employee abuse, suing journalists they don’t like, etc. That stuff is something people should be aware of. But cloning is fine.
Why something like this over the arturia microfreak?
Choice is good
@@digitaldiezel5870 🙄
Where did you read this? Where is the citation? Thanks for great content as always.
This is their brains eurorack module as a self contained modular synth. If you have a eurorack setup and are impatient, get a brains. I have brains in my rack and it's awesome. I was thinking about getting a second brains. But I am going to wait for Grind.
The next one is an fx box
Mutable is open source, anyone can expand on or clone her work
Yo pensé lo mismo, es mutable instruments in a box
Eso es. It's their brains eurorack module que es Plaits pero con mas cosas. They just took brains and made a self contained desktop synth. Tengo brains. It's fantastic. I can't wait to get a Grind.
i had the mini moog clone. paid 240 for it new during covid and sold it for over 300 like 2 years later
Just got my sampler hardware, liven lofi 12 and roland s50 just learning lofi and s50 waiting to be unboxed.
fingers crossed a labyrinth copy is next
why all the crying, they got 1/3 of a DX7 inside that box and yamaha don´t even care
?? She seems pretty happy??
@@connerogrady5035 i was spitting fire to the comment section sorrylol
The FM synthesis patent Yamaha used on the DX7 is from 1977. So it's long since expired.
