Smiling Friends really does feel like finally seeing a tree you planted years ago being absolutely massive. I followed Zach's work for years and I at least knew about the original YOLO animation, but man its just awesome how this cartoon just seems to have everyone on board. Kind of just got that sopping wet grin from left to right ear seeing all the fan content for this show, and I really hope this show keeps inspiring creatives.

a fun fact about the opening. The opening was storyboard by the amazing Akio Watanabe! Some may recognize them as the character design for Studio Shaft's Monogatari Series! In the staffbook for onimai, they left a note describing their experience with the opening. translated:My name is Akio Watanabe, and I am in charge of the opening. I usually work as an animator and do original drawings for games. I was asked to create a cute OP, and I accepted, but the song that came out was a very fast type of music, I had a hard time making cuts to the rhythm of the song because I didn't have much experience. However, with the help of the very talented artists and the director, we managed to get it done. I am truly grateful! It is not often that I get the chance to do such creative work, so I think it was a great experience for me! Thank you very much
