I've not heard anyone who could quite sing it like Kenny did. I think this is one of the most powerfully anointed songs ever given us by the Holy Spirit. Thank God for the Lighthouse.
Aug.1971 I got saved in Soledad Pentecostal Church of God... Don and Eleanor Smith were the Pastors...The Hinsons were singing in Salinas Valley. The Light House Album was my First Gospel Record...Today I still have this song Permanently engraved on my Heart!
I praise God for annointing The Hinsons with so much talent. I praise God for giving them the words to write these songs, especially The Lighthouse. The Hinsons were so faithful to our Lord. Kenny was extremely loyal and faithful that I believe God wanted him for something special in Heaven. Thank you, Ronny and Yvonne for this great song, "The Lighthouse". God Bless You All, Gwen
The greatest song Ronny ever wrote. I love the prelude by Kenny. The answer to ALL our problems....Jesus. Thank you Hinsons for everything. I know Kenny is singing this song in Heaven to all the Saints and expecially to Jesus. Gwen
What amazing is that he could have probably made millions with his voice singing secular music.. But he never have his talents to the world!!! Secular singers would kill for a voice like his... He had the perfect tone, pitch, energy, etc... But stayed true to the Lord and sang exclusively for Him! That's a powerful testimony!!!
However the story goes - Ronnie wrote it and Kenny's heavenly voice sung it and this song was what I listened to over and over again the day my Dad died and this song helped get me thru that dark day.
I enjoy music by the Hinsons so much. The spirit just moves in me with every song they sing. I have enjoyed listening to them sing for years. They can really make a difference in everyone's life. In my book The Hinson's are one of the best gospel groups to ever hit the charts.l want to say thank you,for bringing us your music.
Love this song takes me back to my childhood and the words are so true Jesus will always always be there for you and you need to be there for him if you not I'm so sorry for you just ask him he will come into your heart God bless you and everyone who's listening
Thank you for posting Hinson music. I still have their vinyl album Lighthouse, and Prime. They are undoubtedly the finest gospel group ever. I'm 60 yrs old now, have heard a lot of music, but I never get tired of hearing them. What a spiritual strength their music has given to me in times of trouble and of blessing. This strength I speak of comes from the annointing that God Almight has placed on their music. God's power and annointing never fades or fails. Thanks for the music.
I agree that the praise and worship in our services have changed dramatically over the years. Sometimes I hear one ‘of the oldies’ and I get blessed immeasurably. Most of the time, I take time to enter in to the singing when that song ‘doesn’t grab me’.......also there are some of the songs, the current ones, which do grab me and are powerful indeed. Fortunately I play ‘my favourite Christian songs’ at home many hours a day and I get ministered to in that way. I realize that others like certain songs and we may differ. Give it time......worship in your heart anyway. Remember, it’s all about Him! 🌸🙏🦋
I've listened & loved the Hinsons since the 60s. many great groups back then, the Hemphills, Florida Boys, Vestal Goodman & the Goodmans. loved them all, but the Hinsons were anointed you could feel it! Kenny just a beaute soul God lent to us for a season then took him home! never a better voice graced a stage than his❤. Kenny still ministers to my heart every time I listen to him.
I was raised on southern gospel music and the blue Grass music I pray that they continue it every day. I love the Hinson Family, the Rambo's, the Happy Goodmans too.
I been to Biloxi , Miss. on vacation before. The road along the Gulf the scenic route there is a White Light House and the road go's around it. I noticed a huge gambling boat docked in the Gulf as I passed by. After Katrina hit I wondered if that Light House made it through the storm. On the news it showed that big gambling boat beached on its side and that road washed away, but that Light House was still standing in tact.!! Jesus Is The Light House!!
I can't stop listening. They were so blessed by the Lord and we were so blessed that they listened to God and followed his will and sang so beautifully for us to be reminded of the blessings of our Lord! Thank You for posting.
This song is a song that my sister and I sang in church when we were growing up. My sister has since passed away 10-31-08. I love the memories I have with this song.
I loved the Hinsons went to all their singing's if it was not far away.Kenny was my favorite..he had an amazing voice he could have went another way but he chose to work for God..he was special..j
@hinsonhistory Anyone in Southern Gospel that sings has sung this song at one time or another.....It is the most beloved song in Southern Gospel history in my opinion....but The Crabb Family's Through The Fire is making gains on it.....
Sorry for people that has to live without there love ones here but there love ones that have him in their hearts. Souls and worship him are going to be so alive when u see them again amen we all are just passing. This is not our home
A very young Kenny Hinson sings this in a different style on a video "Gospel Singing Jubilee-03" at 5:43 (couldn't put the link here). Kenny's vocal range was phenominal....he could sing anything. God gave him his unique voice to use for Him. Kenny chose God but more importantly, God chose Kenny. Kenny could not refuse God any more than he could refuse to eat. He was that dedicated to our lord and saviour, Jesus Christ.
Hello this is Darlene i love kenny songs my son used to sing his song before he went to heaven he has been gone for 3 years and a half we will get to be with them one day
+Darlene Robles Hi Darlene. I'm so sorry for your loss. I'm happy that the children of God will see their loved ones again. I used to see Hinsons when they would come to Augusta back in the 70's and 80's.
Oldies songs like this and many others has been around for years I enjoy listening to the old Songs Like This a lot of churches still around same as the old school songs I listen to them on a daily basis and it touches my heart all the way and before George Jones passed away he gave his life to God and he put a CD out is called the gospel collection if you love songs like that you can buy a CD the gospel collection and it will bless you I promise you it will God bless you all who sings all these inspiration songs
Gosh this brings back so many memories. The only concert I ever attended was a gospel one for the Hinsons back in 1984. I remember having their christmas album. The song called it's going to be a very scary christmas.
I think its a shame that in my own church today these songs have no place it seems in the worship service & its all about ? praise music & no hymn for the altar call? have we all gone insane ? no wonder i don't feel the spirit there anymore & some say 'well maybe its you" oh yeh, sure i'm seeking to be closer to God & its my fault now '? mmm
+jamestee007 I know what you mean, I think. The hymns don't even sound reverent, so modern they pass for secular songs. No inspiration, or feeling of holiness at all. No alter calls. Its all about giving money, planting seed and getting 10 or 20 etc. times back. Believe and receive. Such a shame.
+jamestee007 We still use the old hymns at our little country church -using the hymnals. Of course maybe that is why our church is little-but I have gone to mega churches and the music just has no soul, If you listen to the words of the new stuff-little if any mention is made of Jesus-the songs could be sung to worship any god not just THE GOD. The old hymns had messages that taught about God and Jesus, The new ones may be saying words of praise but you don't learn anything from them and like I said they could be sung to praise any god
+jamestee007 I agree there are so many hymns that are so anointed and overlooked due to the current praise & worship musicians feeling compelled to write their own praise choruses.
Yep. Yvonne tossed it and Kenny fished it out thinking he could do something with it. At that time, Ronny was doing most of the lead singing, but when Kenny revived the song that just wasn't working the other way, they recognized the change they needed to make and the rest is gospel music history.
The Hinsons are awsome....They have helped inspire the Southern Gospel group that I am in right now.......I will leave a video for you all to check out. Write back and tell me what you think.
Jesus Is the Lighthouse 12/12/2008 There's a lighthouse on the hillside That overlooks the sea When I'm tossed it sends out a light That I might see And the light that shines in darkness now Will safely lead me o'er If it wasn't for the lighthouse My ship would be no more (Narrative) It seems that everybody about us says Tear that old lighthouse down The big ships just don't pass this way anymore So there's no use in standing around Then my mind goes back to that one dark, stormy night When just in time, I saw the light Yes, it was the light form that old lighthouse That stands up there on the hill And I thank God for the lighthouse I owe my life to Him Jesus is the Lighthouse And from the rocks of sin He has shown a light around me That I might clearly see If it wasn't for the lighthouse Tell me where would this ship be? I thank God for the lighthouse I owe my life to Him Jesus is the Lighthouse And from the rocks of sin He has shown a light around me That I might clearly see If it wasn't for the lighthouse Tell me where would this ship be?
To 160302rs,Donnie Sumner is J.D. Sumner's nephew. He sang with the Stamps for a while and I think also during the time that the Stamps sang with Elvis.
My name is Billy Ray Brown. I sang tenor with the Hinsons between Eric and Bo, in 1984, from May-September. If anyone has any videos or pictures of me with them I would REALLY appreciate seeing them or having them. Thanks!!!
No offense to anyone, but I absolutely agree with you Diane. Donnie Sumner has one of the most powerful lead voices I have ever heard, and it was especially powerful and dramatic in the Stamps version of "The Lighthouse". Also, you should pull up on you tube, the version of JD Sumner and the Stamps doing Blessed Assurance. Again it features the powerful lead voice of Donnie.
I did not say that Kenny Hinson couldn't sing. Kenny was the best gospel singer ever. I merely said Donnie Sumner sings this song better than anyone that I've heard sing it.
Yes it's been 24 years since Kenny's passing but he left a strong testimony, his music is still strong today, miss ya Kenny.
I've not heard anyone who could quite sing it like Kenny did. I think this is one of the most powerfully anointed songs ever given us by the Holy Spirit. Thank God for the Lighthouse.
I thank God for this song. How lost would I be without Jesus. This was a great group!
this is still one of the best songs ever written!!!!
35 years later.
I love the Hinsons!!
Aug.1971 I got saved in Soledad Pentecostal Church of God... Don and Eleanor Smith were the Pastors...The Hinsons were singing in Salinas Valley. The Light House Album was my First Gospel Record...Today I still have this song Permanently engraved on my Heart!
I was introduced to The Hinsons by my sister Rita. She brought me and so many others to Jesus. She earned her wings a few years ago. 🙌👏🙏🙇
There'll never be another Kenny Hinson. He was the best!

I grew up listening to the Hinsons. Thanks for posting this. Kenny was probably the most underated singer ever. That man could flat out sing.
What a voice what a song can't stop listening to this group what a blessing to hear them love the Hinson family
However the story goes - Ronnie wrote it and Kenny's heavenly voice sung it and this song was what I listened to over and over again the day my Dad died and this song helped get me thru that dark day.
In my opinion, Kenny is the greatest vocalist to ever live. Thanks for sharing!
Sing it kenny
Jason crabb too
John Starnes.
i think that the LORD was great for giving us this awsome singer, who will never ever be replaced ever.can you tell that i like his singing?
I enjoy music by the Hinsons so much. The spirit just moves in me with every song they sing. I have enjoyed listening to them sing for years. They can really make a difference in everyone's life. In my book The Hinson's are one of the best gospel groups to ever hit the charts.l want to say thank you,for bringing us your music.
Kenny Hinson is the reason I play Jesus music today!
Me too.
Kenny had a chance to go secular, but he chose Gospel Music......He was the Best!!!
This is the song that save my soul....Praise GOD!!!
Love this song takes me back to my childhood and the words are so true Jesus will always always be there for you and you need to be there for him if you not I'm so sorry for you just ask him he will come into your heart God bless you and everyone who's listening

Kenny Hinson. A man who had so much to say through his music. Gone much too soon.
I agree that the praise and worship in our services have changed dramatically over the years. Sometimes I hear one ‘of the oldies’ and I get blessed immeasurably. My cousin is married to Ronnie Hinson....he sang the lighthouse at my uncle's funeral in May....
No one can sing it like Kenny! I sure miss his singing!
What a Blessing. There will never be another group like the Hinson Family. I Miss them so much. Thank You for sharing.
The crabb family
I've listened & loved the Hinsons since the 60s. many great groups back then, the Hemphills, Florida Boys, Vestal Goodman & the Goodmans. loved them all, but the Hinsons were anointed you could feel it! Kenny just a beaute soul God lent to us for a season then took him home! never a better voice graced a stage than his❤. Kenny still ministers to my heart every time I listen to him.
Thank God for these old songs!!
We had Ronnie Hinson at our church a couple of months ago. So anointed!
I was raised on southern gospel music and the blue Grass music I pray that they continue it every day. I love the Hinson Family, the Rambo's, the Happy Goodmans too.
This my favorite song of all time by my favorite gospel group of all time!
Thank God for being willing to give me so many "second chances"!
God is moving on me this morning! God is so good! Ive always loved this anointed group.
I been to Biloxi , Miss. on vacation before. The road along the Gulf the scenic route there is a White Light House and the road go's around it. I noticed a huge gambling boat docked in the Gulf as I passed by. After Katrina hit I wondered if that Light House made it through the storm. Bessie Bearden You are absolutely right.
This song is a song that my sister and I sang in church when we were growing up. My sister has since passed away 10-31-08. I love the memories I have with this song.

Thank God that Kenny chose to serve Him. He is with Him singing now unashamed of the Gospel of God.
What inspiration! It’s just not done that way much anymore. Good country gospel! It don’t get any better than that.
Few in nashville could hope to pull off what Kenny was able to do.....period!

Anointed and their music was always talking about Jesus singers should take note.
Jesus Is the Lighthouse
12/12/2008
There's a lighthouse on the hillside
That overlooks the sea
When I'm tossed it sends out a light
That I might see
And the light that shines in darkness now
Will safely lead me o'er
If it wasn't for the lighthouse
My ship would be no more
(Narrative)
It seems that everybody about us says
Tear that old lighthouse down
The big ships just don't pass this way anymore
So there's no use in standing around
Then my mind goes back to that one dark, stormy night
When just in time, I saw the light
Yes, it was the light form that old lighthouse
That stands up there on the hill
And I thank God for the lighthouse
I owe my life to Him
Jesus is the Lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin
He has shown a light around me
That I might clearly see
If it wasn't for the lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be?
I thank God for the lighthouse
I owe my life to Him
Jesus is the Lighthouse
And from the rocks of sin
He has shown a light around me
That I might clearly see
If it wasn't for the lighthouse
Tell me where would this ship be?
Dwayne Friend and his brothers.. Harold, Bythel Friend. and Dave Gourley, to me is the best version ive every heard. from the middle 70,s..

In the event you haven't found it, the song is titled Mercy Throne, written by Dottie Rambo.
That's one I really wish I had, but they didn't do that one on this concert. I've now posted everything I have.
No offense to anyone, but I absolutely agree with you Diane. Donnie Sumner has one of the most powerful lead voices I have ever heard, and it
