- It was a dream come true and a day never to be forgotten. My wife and I took the trip down to Irvine to check out this legendary showroom full of Cobras, Daytona Coupes, GT40s, and more.
People ask if they are "real". Well, they are not original cars from the 1960s, they are better. In fact, they are the only cars in the world under official license from the late great Carroll Shelby, and for good reason. Highly customizable to suit your tastes and superior build quality.
I have so much gratitude for Lance Stander @lancestander and the whole Superformance team for making these dream cars a reality.

In this video, we drove in the Superformance MKIII 427 S/C Cobra (Chassis #SP03379) which was powered by a fuel-injected BluePrint 427 and it was surreal. The body and interior are exactly as it was in 1965, but this car is brand new and has modern brakes and suspension. But don't worry, still no power steering. Carroll is smiling on these machines.

I have always dreamed of owning a Cobra and then, in Aug 2001, the owner of Superformance Canada took me for test drive in one of their awesome cars. I was absolutely giddy with excitement. It took another 8 years until I was finally able to buy one for myself. I drive it every chance I get and the thrill hasn't diminished one. little. bit. :D
As Chris Farley said in Dirty Work, "You BASTARD!" Haha, I'm actually happy for you. You bastard. I have had several Corvettes and I'm well aware of what the C8 is all about on a track, but I would trade them all for what you have, dude.

You have totally cool cars over there. I'm currently in OZ, where there is a Superformance dealership. I'm considering moving to NZ soon (both RHD countries). Back in the day I ran a ZG Ford sedan with a 302 V8 Trishift. Balanced motor, balanced exhaust system. It would wheelspin from start and again when changing up into 2nd at 60mph.
I'm wondering about diving into a V8 project again. Compliance legislation in OZ and NZ now consider any new build as a new car, therefore there are contaminant emission boundaries and electronic fuel management requirements... along with exhaust noise restrictions. That is: MUFFLER.
I see in this video there's a woman in a RHD car (is that a GT40?). So RHD is a big tick.
I think the 289 mk2 (English flat slab style roadster) would meet compliance requirements if it can be done in RHD. Could that daily driver/road version also include pwr steering/brakes and aircon?
A daily driver road version of the Daytona 65 with similar refinements, a detuned V8 and muffler street pipes would also appeal.
Any thoughts or suggestions? Maybe i could go through Superformance in OZ, then ship to NZ? I'm not in any rush to do this... unlike the cars themselves, the process is a marathon, not a sprint.

It depends. There's pricing on Hillbank.com but to give you an idea, between $80k-$100k. The cool thing is that you can totally customize them to exactly what you want and what works for your budget. The guys there are super friendly and genuinely enjoy talking to interested customers.
