  • The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season officially concludes on Nov. 30. Hurricanes Florence and Michael caused significant damage in the southeastern U.S. In total, the season produced 15 named storms, including eight hurricanes of which two were “major” (Category 3, 4 or 5). The 2018 hurricane season was the first since 2008 to have four named storms active at the same time (Florence, Helene, Isaac and Joyce).
    For the first time, the GOES East satellite was able to see the entire Atlantic basin from its operational location of 75.2 degrees west longitude. This allows us to show storms as they form off the coast of Africa and then enter the Atlantic.

    I always found this funny. I knew this girl for two years, meeting her in 2016. It was around Matthew hit and she was around whenever we were going through it. Her and I started dating February 2017. Lasted until September when Irma hit. She was an unfaithful one, putting me through too much to even bare. We don't speak anymore and I find it funny how the year we don't speak, no hurricane hits me. I'm in Florida, and Michael went right on our side so we weren't affected at all. It was like some sort of sign. Completely irrelevant but I felt like sharing.

    • @bobbyc1120
      @bobbyc1120 4 года назад +3

      South of about 30 degrees latitude, winds generally blow east to west. North of that, winds blow from west to east.
      The direction of the wind explains much of our weather. For example, California has such a stable, moderate climate because the wind is always blowing in from over the ocean, whereas the east coast gets the hot and cold air from the continent.
