2018 Hurricane Season

- The 2018 Atlantic hurricane season officially concludes on Nov. 30. Hurricanes Florence and Michael caused significant damage in the southeastern U.S. In total, the season produced 15 named storms, including eight hurricanes of which two were “major” (Category 3, 4 or 5). The 2018 hurricane season was the first since 2008 to have four named storms active at the same time (Florence, Helene, Isaac and Joyce).
For the first time, the GOES East satellite was able to see the entire Atlantic basin from its operational location of 75.2 degrees west longitude. This allows us to show storms as they form off the coast of Africa and then enter the Atlantic. - Наука
IN THE EPAC:
0:16 Aletta
0:28 Bud
0:46 Carlotta
1:30 Emilia
1:34 Fabio
3:26 Ileana and John
4:52 Olivia
5:51 Nineteen-E
6:08 Rosa
6:20 Sergio
7:08 Tara
7:29 Vicente
7:31 Willa
8:13 Xavier
Can't discount the EPAC with its record-shattering season!
Well, that escalated quickly.
8:17 if you look in the pacific that hurricane looked like it got its soul stripped away but it’s spirit remained
I always found this funny. I knew this girl for two years, meeting her in 2016. It was around Matthew hit and she was around whenever we were going through it. Her and I started dating February 2017. Lasted until September when Irma hit. She was an unfaithful one, putting me through too much to even bare. We don't speak anymore and I find it funny how the year we don't speak, no hurricane hits me. I'm in Florida, and Michael went right on our side so we weren't affected at all. It was like some sort of sign. Completely irrelevant but I felt like sharing.
BUT ALL THAT ENDED WITH TROPICAL STORM ALEX AND COLIN!
What the-
Leslie lasted for a while lmao.
She was just checkin the other hurricanes :D
4:49 Florence, the 2nd notable storm
6:50 Michael, the most notable storm of the 2018 season.
It depends on where you live. I live in North Carolina, so Florence is more notable than Michael to me.
I live in Panama city, and when Florence happend I was worried because I had relatives living in North Carolina. Little did I know I would have to worry about something else in a couple months
That pulsing clouds everyday on the left of the screen. Wow.
Rocky Mountain thunderstorms.
that big spin thats always at the top 😻
Those are Thunderstorm clusters.
What's cool is at about the 3:09 mark you can see a big blast of Saharan dust explode off the African continent.
MemphisTiger where???
the dim clouds
4:49
Wow, it’s such interesting to see the dynamics of our atmosphere during hurricane season. Actually one can see one or two storms of the eastern pacific. Would be great you could make a video similar to this of that region.
I want to see West Pacific. It's a non stop typhoon machine. This year was especially crazy. Not just the amount but the tracks
This might be a dumb question, but how is the whole season in daylight? Is it just the IR satellite images made to appear like the visible satellite?
mallarina
This is IR satellite and some edits to make it look smoother
If you look at the USA, you can see it get brighter during the day and dimmer during the night.
@@stormblade2510 right
Leslie was out there for so long.
6:59 Florida: Tactical Nuke... INCOMING!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
The replacement names for Florence and Michael were Francine and Milton, respectively.
If Milton hits Milton, that's gonna be a coincidence
5:32 watching a time lapse of the loss of my house and my poor Jeep
Your car was destroyed ? Poor boy ...
6:42 Leslie stop doing that ur not hurricane sandy
Kingboss7629 YT it was like hurricane sandy except it wasn’t impacting the east coast
Did anybody notice that in 2008 there were 4 storms active at the same time. 10 Years later, and in 2018 there were 4 storms active at the same time!!
0:32 All hale the Pacific(i see Aletta and Bud)
I can't wait to see the 2020 time-lapse
My biggest takeaway was the never ending chilly upper level-lows and troughs over the East Coast, especially the Northeast right into August. Normally the "spring" weather pattern of cut-off lows and troughs breaks up by early July at the latest.
Fascinating, captain. (read that in Spock's voice)
This is AWESOME!!!!🌬🌬🌀🌀☁️⛅⛈🌤🌥🌦🌧🌨🌩🌞🌞
Love watching the hurricanes that flooded my state
*When a Hurricane dies out on screen*
Me: *Interesting*

06:50 Michael
ThePhoneExpert thank you
@@chriscaricato8101 Pleasure ;-)
Michael is cute
@@tenminhnganlamcacbannhinla4239 he's going to get retired
Here a suggested replacement for Michael
1.Melvin
2.Milo
3.Marven
4.Mikey

For Florence
1.Freda
2.Francesca
3.Feliz
4.Fillimoria

1 word AMAZING
The western extent of the Bermuda High was almost non-existent the whole summer. Looks like the Azores-Bermuda High was located more towards the Azores.
You only showed Atlantic hurricanes when the Pacific was the most active this year
If you look closely at Mexico you will sometimes see a hurricane
Yeah but nobody cares about the EPAC
For thr third concecutive year, the "M"named storm was the strongest, Matthew (2016), Maria (2017), and Michael (2018), Michael will also be the third straight "M" name to be retired
Irma was the strongest in 2017 not Maria
Long jhon Silver Yes, Wikipedia mentioned Maria as the stronest storm, but I found out Irma's wind speed. was slightly stronger than Maria
Irma peak 180
Maria peak 176
@@gregggoldberg5058 Maria was stronger. We measure by pressure, not windspeed.
WOW! That's just crazy.. I never knew how that happened..
eso si son videos que se puedan ver la evolucion de esos huracanes, donde se inicia y donde se termina......
nice! do it for WV too, please!
Look only USA and how many times storms are forming !
6:50 Michael
I'm here
Hurricane Michael you did good for the hurricane race. Not so good for the human race
The Great Lakes and East Coast had one cut-off low after another.
The parade of never ending Pacific energy hitting the Great Plains and forming large upper-level lows is almost comical. It never relented!
mesmerizing.
This kind of animation is available on your site
how can i see this?
You can see some hurricanes in the Pacific
check out all that moisture on the east coast this year!
It rained almost nonstop for a month here in South Carolina
Hey, can someone explain to me how wind patterns work? I mean, I noticed that they changed the direction near the equator
South of about 30 degrees latitude, winds generally blow east to west. North of that, winds blow from west to east.
The direction of the wind explains much of our weather. For example, California has such a stable, moderate climate because the wind is always blowing in from over the ocean, whereas the east coast gets the hot and cold air from the continent.
@@bobbyc1120 thanks for explaining to me
Hurricane remnants always make their way to Connecticut.
Imagine being on a boat and you encounter hurricane dorian
RIP
There was a system that dumped 8 inches of rain on us...luckily i lived on a hill
U missed hurricane alberto may 28th 2018
At 3:35 you can see a hurricane in the pacific
4:49 Hurricane Florence forms.
5:27 Hurricane Florence hits Carolina.
5:43 Hurricane Florence dies.
Actually Carolina are 2 states North Carolina and South Carolina.
I always thought there was a giant hurricane in north Atlantic
okay hurricane leslie 😍
At 6:30 minutes in you can see Hurricane? Michael being built at the Bejucal Ionospheric Heatng Array on its way to destroy Tyndall AFBase.
Anyone looking for Michael it's at 6:49.
im looking for florence because my house was moderately damaged by the flooding and winds witch snapped trees that fell on my house.
Wheres sandy
This animation would be so much better if there was music.
Michael formed from remains of kirk
You know what? I think you’re right!
Fact for you: Hurricanes start in Late Summer or Early Fall
I though here in New Jersey we were going to get hit, we did not, YAY 6TH YEAR IN A ROW WITH OUT A BAD HURRICANE! Let’s hope 2019 is good because the Jersey shore is still marked up by Sandy 6 years ago, and that was bad!
But Florence and Micheal Where really bad and will be retired!
i think we’re really lucky leslie didn’t come to land she looked pretty big and intense
she wasnt a big deal really but she was something to watch at the time
So is nobody gonna talk about that little storm florence reminents made??
4:56 : da first of monsters
The video is better at 2x speed.
Kirk is kinda the reason why Micheal formed, if you look closely...
I was affected by Michael
Same

We're focusing on the Atlantic
They do get named. They get named by east Pacific hurricane Center.
Wow
0:33 a hurricane

Florence and Michael will be retired
Gamer 2022 pro they barely did anything?
@@NoCumBacksiFunny Did you see the damage Michael did? Michael is definitely going to be retired.
@@NoCumBacksiFunny they did...
Sorry this may be dumb but what does retired mean?
Doesn’t it mean re evaluated?
Leslie is Paulette and Teddy's cousin
So noaa will let us view the deaths of thousands but not the damage from the 2011 Joplin tornado....
