I saw Harry at his last two concerts at University of Illinois in 1979 and 1980. Our birthdays were only 9 apart so we were both celebrating--indeed the first time I went because a friend bought me tickets for my birthday. He was great in the studio and great in person.

"..sometimes I get this crazy dream
that I just take off in my car
but you can travel on ten thousand miles
and still stay where you are..."
Isn't that the truth. Thanks, Harry - keep the change.

darlac59 imagine the songs he could have wrote for the times we have been facing these past 15 years.. especially 9/11

Saw Harry 8 times in concert. Remember the silence of the audience as Harry said "where do you think you came from" in The Mayor of Candor Lied. Miss you Harry.

Not even Dylan can write ballads like Harry. I can honestly say I had more fun at Harry's concerts than any others. Crimson was cerebral, the dead ,a trip, BobbyAnd The MidNights almost as much fun. Asia, we wondered "Why".so many bands, but we always went to see Harry.

It’s an abomination that Chapin and his band aren’t in the rock and roll hall of fame.

@dods2002 I seem to remember that Harry would change the later radio station to fit the town he was in, to get a cheer from the crowd.

I know WKRP in Cincinnati well. But when I have heard some other live versions where he would use a local station at the end.

@sandyman1960 I think he was referring to Harry's changing of the words -- Harry sang those words in the above version.

He was in Hamilton, Ontario. WKRP reference was probably because it was a popular series.
