Takes a lot of balls for a salesman to agree to that. He was willing to put his tools to the test and he failed but even though his tool failed, it saved a lot in replacement parts vs the one failure
A good salesman can sell anything but a great salesman can admit when their product doesn’t get the job done regardless glad to see they don’t just show the positive but show that sometimes the product doesn’t get the job done for whatever reason
Dan is an excellent salesman. He communicates clearly and is confident in his product. Also seems like a great guy. Knowing that these sockets can be used in both directions, they're going to sell many, many sets of these.
looks like an awesome product too bad their website sucks and you cant locate a dealer i wont buy online if im gonna pay tool truck prices i want to be able to walk on the truck for warranty/ returns etc /be able to touch and feel the products before purchasing
B.S, he says "bad boy" way too many times.
Just by them in proto colors
What these sockets can benefit from is an extension to assist with hammering. I'm not talking about a regular 3/8 extension in the square drive either. But an extension that also slips around the entire socket, and has a nice dished end to protect your hand while you hammer it.
Brave taking on unknown challenges. Great video
There is always the right tool for the job. Sometimes that tool is an RBRT extractor and sometimes it's the cutting torch, other times it's the compactor at the salvage yard. That bolt in the tensioner is ready for the compactor at the salvage yard.
I had the feeling he was gonna toss that socket across the room when he couldn't break that nut loose, but I'm sold
I was getting ready to comment on the unreal world demo block testing, them you pulled through with pile of junk tests. 👍
Dude is so into his job, love the energy 👏
i guess im asking randomly but does anybody know of a trick to get back into an Instagram account??
I was dumb lost the password. I would love any assistance you can give me.
@Brady Grady Instablaster :)
@Mauricio Watson Thanks so much for your reply. I found the site thru google and I'm waiting for the hacking stuff now.
Looks like it's gonna take quite some time so I will reply here later when my account password hopefully is recovered.
@Mauricio Watson it did the trick and I actually got access to my account again. I'm so happy!
Thank you so much you saved my ass!
@Brady Grady glad I could help :)
Asks for a bigger hammer... proceeds to choke up on the handle 🤦🏻♂️
Great videos though Clay and Dan... only product reviews I trust to watch 👍🏼 I’m definitely sold on the RBRT line 💯
Some big news is coming Tuesday that will be here on my channel...... be sure you watch it !
No fingers were smashed in the making of this video 😎
One of the younger techs broke a caliper bracket bolt this week and i saved his bacon with my set
Great video, with the way y’all set Dan up he was under more pressure than the salesman on Second hand lion. Lol. Loved it. I have the broken bolt removers with FOR and they are awesome.
I could feel your heart drop when he dropped your ratchet 😂
Haha
Will probably pick-up a set of these. Good salesman.
Snap on cordless impact for the win
Nice work Dan!
Looks awesome!
17:10
This is when you just bust out the die grinder with a cut off wheel and carefully make new sides and turn it into a smaller, NEW, head.
Good video! My foreign object removal tool is a punch and a hammer. Cheers!
I wonder if an impact driver would have given that extra bite it needed. Sounds like a sweet combo am I right ;)
Dan seems like a good sport. Those sockets are amazing!
Want a bigger hammer?
Can I have a bigger hammer?
Hold my beer boy.
Im pretty impressed with these sockets. Very nice video
try using the r.b.r.t. with a 3/8 air hammer bit matco FR438 or mac tools ah5538 to hammer on while turning with a wrench on the serpentine pulley bolt. also some of those have left hand thread on the bolt.
Great Challenge for the Mac Tools Dan. WELL DONE
I am 100% confident that a traditional twist extractor socket would have removed the one they could not get.
They could a lined the 12 up with the ridges they made
I wish mac tools would start making tools in USA, instead of all china
They still manufacture some of there tools in the US but sadly the majority of their stuff in made in China
Oh it’s coming. Just get use to made in the USA prices
I think a majority of their hand tools are made in Taiwan or USA.
Ernesto Gallegos if they make them here... we will pay for them here!
@@bobrewer177 I just hope the qualities are same with those in the USA
Some "deep well" versions of those would be nice especially in the tie rod situation there at the end and on that v belt pulley to clear the housing around it.
I bought the Matco hex grip impact socket when they were on promo a couple of months ago. I'm satisfied with them. But if I had some extra $$$ to burn, I would consider picking up a set of the RBRT to compliment my Matco set.
Great video y'all have a great day and stay safe 👍
Hell yesss! Damn I love this channel
Keep up the awesome videos can’t wait to see what’s next
My methods are in this order; Heat Induction Bolt Buster on Nut or Bolt, Bolt Extractors Sockets, Weld a same size Nut onto it and it worked every time!
Or if the head of the bolt breaks, weld a washer to the broken bolt and then weld a nut to the washer. Saved my butt
This shows that even though the rbrt sockets are great that you should still have different styles of extractor sockets/ tools. Sometimes rbrt works great other times you need turbo sockets, Gearwrench ones, astro flank bite. Because there are other factors like the size of the socket for clearance, some are really fat and durable like rbrt and others are thin like the turbo sockets. Also ive used a file to square up a bolt that's been stripped really bad so the extractor can bite better.
I know we all have tools that we have modified over the years. I was watching Bill’s box tour and noticed some stuff. Can you do a video on tools that you have modified over the years? I know it’s not a tool manufacturer video but I think that the modified ones are just as important and deserves a video of their own. I’m new to your channel, my wife is already giving me crap for watching your channel 😂. I have to wait till she goes to sleep to watch 😂. Always asking “What do you need that for?!” Lol. Love your videos. Keep up the good work Sir.
Did it two years ago. Here’s the link ruclips.net/video/Lu-z9xug_PY/видео.html
Thank you Sir
looks like they could use a deep socket too!!!
They do a Great job! Not every bolt and nut you can get
He'll yeah I want one🎉
I’m buying them right now
They have a great product there i do believe they need to add some in between sizes and also to make a deep version as we saw the bottom out when the stud is long almost perfect but not quite there oh and one more thing they need to be a little thinner.
Great video!
I believe I need theses now
You guys made Dan sweat it out, give him a cold beer!
Nice demonstration!
Rbrt foreign extactor set 8pc metric and the 5pc sae seem to be close to equivelent check the sizes out. Cant u just smack an extra tight metric on or a sae or vise versa?
I like it correct mr Dan not every tool is right for every job incredible and well priced product 😎👍
Clay looks like l am buying both sets of sockets 👍
PROTO has RBRT now, Dan needs a deep set of extractors
The Irwin Hanson’s that Snap On rebrands have worked the best for me up here in the rust belt. Tried the Craftsman’s before that (the cheaper versions, not the Turbo Sockets), but they rounded out. Hanson’s are still going strong.
I believe the Hanson’s are made from the same high carbon steel process they use on their taps. The only thing that would hold up better for extraction would be S2 tool steel, but that would be more expensive and well made high carbon steel will get a higher hardness than bolt material anyway.
My gear wrench set does that as well it has a negivitve 19 an 19 im impressed with my set im lookin into the 1/2 set who rebranded who on this one
good job you made him work for it you could see him sweat
That's why I have the Gearwrench complete set to fill in the gaps because they have actual size and minus sizes in sae and metric.
yup the gearwrench set is great.
That's the set I've been looking at getting. Is it worth the money?
@@chrisperkins4728 yes but make sure you buy the mater set. part number is 84784 and its just under $200 on amazon. its nice because it has the normal size and then it has the same size but just a little smaller so u can get every rounded bolts off. Also it goes both ways so u can reuse them if they are uncommon bolts. overall im very happy with them.
@@chrisperkins4728 the 28 piece set I have works great. Has saved my ass quite a few times already. Well worth the 160 I paid for them. I like that they are 1/4" and 3/8 drive and impact rated as well.
This is when you round it out more until you can fit the next size down 😂
Mr. Grab the right tool the first time!!!
Good tools
So I am fairly new to the cool Truck World ive only gotten a couple of things from Snap-on think it's time to try some mac I really want the new Torx Master set they have but I did get the sonnax low profile 3/8 impact sockets are amazing
When will Mac make rbrt 10mm 1/2”? They need a few more sizes. Excellent tools. Thanks
Need those extractor sockets need to be 8 to 19mm. To get bolt out of the socket you switch the direction and it will release it
Sometimes you just have to weld a nut onto the rounded one. RBRTs are great but not the be all end all. What about drilling a hole and using the MAC RBRT FOD? Thanks
The sockets and Mac ratchet are the only Mac tools used.
🤨 awesome
Hello again Clay
Thank you for another Great Video. I would like to know from your time with Dan. Did he say anything about having this RBRT in a 12 point socket version? As a Aircraft Mechanic, most of hardware I encountered is 12 point. And in SAE. Again thank you
No I haven’t heard anything about it. Of course they want to keep things a secret until they are released to keep others from copying what they do and I respect that but Dan never talks about what is coming out next or anything like that.
Thank you again Clay, in short, I would not want you to break any confidence you have with Dan. I'm just a Mechanic looking for the best tool to work with!!! A part number and how much does it cost. I'm sure one must be in the works? Anyhow, thank you
I would of thought they would 9f given you those sockets to keep to use in the workshop and like that you can give an honest opinion of the tools under normal work loads and as a thank you for letting them use your show for very rewarding advertising for them. They should be fair to you.
They did NOT give me a set of them
Well you sold me a set lol
When are these coming to the UK lol
i like those BAD BOYS
Die grinder or file would’ve made it so the socket got a bite, sometimes even a chisel will reshape that bolt, if you absolutely had to get it out and make it so that socket could grab.
I'm cryin' like a baby 'cuz I ain't got one of them socket sets. Sumbody put some bolts on with Maximum air tool violence. And now I'm screwed with rounded bolt heads.
I’m a Mac Tools distributor. Shoot me a message and I’m sure we can work something out.
Penetrating oil!! It does help. Molykote penetrating oil. The best. Works every time. Don’t the rbrts come in deep sockets? You can always cut off the extended threads when they’re too long and bottom out?
You can take a cut off wheel and grind the sides just a little and it would have taken the one nut loose...
The tensioner has reversed tread.
Whooaa, you may have something there.
No it doesn’t have reverse threads. It’s standard lefty Lucy, righty tighty..... you be wrong here. It’s a common failure on the 6.7 cummins we replace them all the time on Dodge ambulances.
@@KoonTrucking So it was just you being naughty Clay, bevelling the sides like that was a cruel trick! The poor man was sweating buckets!
Definitely did not pass the test😞👎
I bet matco hex grip sockets would've got it!!
High price tool fails where $10 pair of vice grips would have got that’s bolt out in 30 seconds flat...that’s funny!
@5:25 Mac guy using a snap-on socket for demonstration 🤔
Yep cause it was my socket…. Not his
I wonder how well they work in the rust belt when it comes out hard all the way plus some
What I've done with bolts like that is smash the head of the bolt with a hammer flattening it down and then trying it again. Alot of the time it will take that taper out some giving it new metal to grab. Doesn't always work but that's what I would of done. It's already fucked and u can't fuck it more
They need to come out with a deepwell so it won't bottom out
I believe you would have achieved in removing the tensioner bolt if you did not use the impact.
I can’t find theses on Mac website. Looked up part number and everywhere on the website.
You know those air hammer shanks that ends with a 1/2 or 3/8 drive? I bet you could drive those sockets home pretty easely
Looks like deep well is needed sometimes
MAC R.B R.T guy using a Snap On 9/16 short socket to demo the block. I would think next time he brings MAC tools to complete his demo's
I wanna see how they compare to the gear wrench ones besides the pin to remove it’s the exact same
Seeing that the bolt is trashed and the pulley is as well I would just weld a nut onto the destroyed bolt and put a wrench on it.
Like I stated in the video this is an EXTREME case just to test the tools ability to remove stripped out rounded off bolts.
Do you have the part numbers for the new magnetic socket rails I seen them on my local truck but I changed jobs and no longer see a Mac guy and really liked them
I think you probably could have gotten the really gnarly one if it was cleaned up with a dremel or something. Or maybe if it was drilled and the other RBRT extractor was used.
Was there thread lock on the belt tensioner idler? Those things are always tough.
I’m sure it has some on it
good honest review, you had one failure. Was this all stuff that wally worked on . Was that a water pump from a cat? Bring Bret back more he is almost as good as wild bill.
Where's the link
@koontrucking on the bolt that was the first and only that ive seen that it hasn't worked on, I would of welded a nut, maybe a washer then nut of the same size and then tried it, if it was for a real repair and not just as a extreme test, or that's when you try to bust out the knipex cobras and start wrenchin
Twist socket may have got it too
@@brettwalkom948 if these didn't, I'm almost certain twist sockets wouldn't have, that head was at a very odd angle, and rbrt will grab pretty much everything, that was the only bolt head ive ever seen it not work on out of every demo ive seen, in person and every RUclips channel beside this one.
@@footlongburrito dunno but if I was in that situation I'd definitely try it..
Koon, Question the RBRT wrenches, is the opened end handed or directional ?
They are no different in the open end than any other Mac wrench. Same style. The magic is the box end
Hey clay why dont mac tools built a thin wall type brbt extractor socket that will help win there is not enought room
No clue?
That pulley with the extreme rounded bolt which the Mac tool failed. I want to see snap-on Friday to use the FDX socket to try to remove it. Let’s get snappy to get a chance to try.
The FDX is the socket he had at the beginning of the video on his test block. It would not remove the bolt either. We tried it
I wish Mac would improve their website we don’t have a Mac guy in our area and waiting on the phone for over an hr I can’t do
God, I don't know what its like in the US, but over here in the UK their website is beyond dreadful, try locating your nearest MAC dealer, almost impossible. Then you ring them up to try and find out and it's the least helpful customer service you can imagine
Yes last time I called I tried to order a roll cart and the kept trying to refer me to one of their distributors over an hr away
Shoulda asked for a torch
Normally the bolts on the tensioner are left hand thread.
Nope these are regular threads. We actually removed it after the video
Will there be bigger sizes like 19mm-25mm for rounded lug nuts
Wish they were cheaper lol good tools I tell all about I’m on a farm at work as a mechanic and cow care taker
Thanks for all your likes 👍
When your recording a lot of hammering or impact wrenching, for the love of God, dial down the audio in your editing!
Are these for sale yet. I can’t find them or a part number for them.
Yes they have been since before the video was shot
