If Darius Slayton holds out, the Giants have more reason to draft an A+ wide receiver with the sixth pick in the first round. Anyone who says Drake Maye is better than Daniel Jones or Drew Lock or both is speculating and overpaying for a dream. This infatuation reminds me of a spouse who leaves a husband or wife for a quick look at another man or woman. To Daniel Jones' haters: be mature. Are you willing not only to give up a second round draft pick and a first round draft pick, but also the improvement an A+ wide receiver would bring to the 2024 Giants? Why did Joe Schoen sign Brian Burns to a big contract and give away a second round pick if he does not want to win in 2024?
Why would he give away the 39th pick if you wanna move up in the draft. Besides that we don't have the cap space to pay the #3 or 4

Agreed. I'd love to see the Giants trade back within the first round and get some picks, then sign someone like Brian Thomas, who is a true WR1. I've even seem him selected ahead of some of the top 3 receivers in some mock drafts. Of course, DS will end up being the odd man out, which is unfortunate, because he's been good to the team for years. But a trade for some picks/players might end up being the best for him because maybe he'll end up getting paid the money he deserves by the team who trades for him - everybody wins.

Cardinals receive pick#6 (Nabers/Odunze), pick#107 and Darius Slayton.
Slayton earns his contract extension with the Cardinals and also get a pick on top of the trade. They take the number 2/3 WR on the board and bolster the weapons for Kyler Murray as their receiving corps is just Michael Wilson and Greg Dortch.
We solidify our young receiver corps (Wan'Dale and Hyatt) with picking the generational talent MHJ while offloading 6M from Slayton's contract to use towards the number 4 pick. I'd call that a win/win scenario for us.

Too many drops. Cannot be relied on for 3rd or 4th down. Only 4 TDs last year. I would hold him to the desl he signed while looking for a way to dump him. If we don't have a QB worth squat, we don't need Slayton to help us lose.

Ok with the Giants making an offer of this year's 1st + next year's 1st but aside from that they should try to work a deal where they give something else other than pick 47. Like maybe a 3rd rounder or 2026 2nd rounder instead of this year's 2nd. If we're gonna trade up to take Maye with the 3rd overall pick we need to keep our 2nd round pick this year to use on a receiver or offensive linesman.

Look this is what I think is going to happen: Joe said " he feels confident about having Daniel, Drew and Viny going into the season" that shows me that he didn't know about this information before the interview. So I believe previously he was going to: draft a WR at 6, and build the offense. Now I believe that if available they will try for pick 3 but if its too expensive I don't see them going through with it. If this is the case the viking can still go get JJ but I believe they will not spend the bank for a QB. I do not like how closs of a relationship he has with daniel like he is still believing he's the guy, it doesn't take 6 years to prove yourself he's absorbing assets investing on Daniel. Finally trade Slayton for a 3rd round pick once they trade up.
Slayton, show up to off season workouts, show dedication. holding out shows you don't care about anything but $$. EARN that extension by being a team guy
I think Slayton is an incredible person and iconic Giants player, but i would not be sad to see him go.

Disagree with trading up to 3. DJ has one more year. Continue to build a better team land a blue chip WR1 fill other holes and let's see how it goes. We can land a QB next season and we would have a true #1 WR at that point. I don't like this idea of trading with pats at all

trade away slayton. our WR core of the future should be WR1 Nabers, WR2 Hyatt, and WanDale in the slot. that’s a young and promising trio. all they’ll need is a decent QB. i think we should either aim for a bottom of the 1st guy, or pick up a guy like Rattler in the 3rd round

I will continue to say this as long as the speculation persists, it will be a regrettable mistake if the Giants overlook all of the other holes that needs to be filled within the roster for the sake of trading up and giving away multiple high-end draft capital in the process!
I can't understand the idea of drafting a qb before the offense is fixed. Need a true #1 wr and have to know for certain the Oline is fixed. If we go qb it's just another Jones scenario!
Y, I have some concerns about Drake Maye. He may be a great QB, but we need Marvin Harrison, Jr. If Daniel Jones fails in 2024, I think we can draft a great QB in 2025! Keep your eye on the ball, Joe Schoen! We need a #1 receiver and, possibly another Offensive Lineman before we can draft a QB. This is a long-term process.
My concern is we didn't want to pay Barkley. Both Barkley and Slayton have/had been good and supportive teammates and never caused drama or trouble for the organization.
If they decide to pay Slayton, it has to be the right price because even though he's been our leading receiver the past few seasons, he'd be a #2/#3 on any other team...just saying

Slayton might not be everyone’s number one bust he has been consistent. On sub QB play he has done okay imagine with an actual QB that can be more of a passer. He can get a lil more for his buck bc he is hardly ever injured at all. Before Daniel Jones he started blossoming with Eli but it is what it is get your money

We didn’t. Idiot Dave Gettleman reached for that pick at 6 in 2019. In 2020 he had the 4th pick and could’ve selected Justin Herbert. If Joe Schoen loves a guy at QB (with his experience as an Assistant GM in Buffalo & 20 years as a pro scout) and Daboll coaching the QB, I trust him. In my opinion, if the Giants select a quarterback in this draft, Joe Schoen and Brian Daboll are indicating that they don’t think the Giants can win football games in 2024, and that could get them fired.
In other words, don’t select a quarterback. Select a wide receiver and wait on a quarterback until 2025, because I hear that the 2025 quarterback draft class is loaded.
I wouldn’t want to bring in a wr with our bad QB situation.
