Probably just some algorithmic interpretations, there has been software able to produce a 3D scan model from a singular image, looking at spec and shading differences, then based on the calculations it made for one side of the face it will make the other side. It might seem like magic when you don't know how it works but it is certainly possible,
Emil Klingberg I'm in professional 3d modelling group and one of them said that even his hi-tech equipment made for 3d scan do not make perfect topology neither colour interpretation. If it do what you say, they are not in the good market.

i think the cameras are oriented to "look" even up or it is just some sort of grandangle camera that captures all the body
