Weapon destruction is a mechanic that I’ve been dreaming to appear in a souls game and I hope it does eventually. I was so hyped to learn it was in this game, I just kinda wish it played a larger role almost like the sekiro posture bar but maybe slightly less vital to beating the boss. Like say the boss gets staggered and we have a second to choose to either hit them for extra damage or hit the weapon for massive break damage. And maybe have a boss or npc that just completely give up fighting if you break their weapon and give you a chance to spare them.
I imagine the reason Laxasia takes so many is because your meant to assume that you cant break it. 41 is more than enough for most people to think "Ive perfect parried way more times than any other boss up till this point, so I probably cant break it at all". Then if you do actually manage to break it you get a moment of satisfaction realizing that it was actually just really hard. Plus it entirely skips phase 1, so if you havent killed her health by then, than its not likely youd get to see it normally.
I just broke the archbishops staff and I got to say, it's like what op said. Its genuinely the hardest weapon break in game currently. Laxasia has 41 parries, but she does mostly sword attacks. Fallen Archbishop is hard purely due to the fact that sweeping attack he does (most common one) will not count, he is using his wing and the wing neither takes part damage normal does ut give the staff part damage. So what attacks give oart damage, all thrust and slams give part damage. So for the most part literally 2 attack out of a possible 7-8 attacks can break it. You also need 14 parries. TDLR- Few parries that deal part damage. Took me like 3 hours.
If im correct I think weapon damage when you parry is dictated either by the weapon's "damage reduction while blocking stat" or the type of weapon so the bone cutter blade will break the weapon faster than the tyrant dagger
Now i understand why i never got to break any boss' weapon : i was one or two perfect guards away to break it each time ! Well, i was also a bit too agressive with the booster glaive ahah Those numbers are OK, and it even confirms the suspicions i had about acid (or perhaps i missed the tutorial). I highly recommend breaking Romeo’s weapon before he begins his flame attack. His range is severely reduced and what is normally a devastating attack becomes a cakewalk to avoid.

Question on second phase of puppet kind are you holding block for those perfect blocks or something cause when I try to perfect block combos like that I end up getting smacked because I let my guard down
Not sure if this is actually correct but when I did my play through with a great sword, every time I had to do multiple perfect Guards in a quick succession, I noticed my guard was still up between each quick press of the guard button. Might just be a heavy weapon thing. You also can have the perfect guard grindstone which allows you to just hold block and perfect guard every time.
