    Dude. Quarantine helped me discover that I have ADHD. I was evaluated, tested and was diagnosed. I always knew, but quarantine made it so difficult for me to work. It was crazy. I had always struggled, but quarantine made it 100x worse. I HATE being quarantined. It’s agonizing. Especially cause I’m hyperactive ADHD AND I’m an extrovert.

      poopiesTellsMeNOO! ugh. YAY! Me too! I have found that there is not many adult ADHD people who still carry the hyperactivity, nice to see you are too! Really it’s a blessing and a curse 😂 People would literally joke on me saying I function like I’m on cocaine. Do people also complain that you talk to much or to fast? What even funnier is this was all before I was even diagnosed and I didn’t get diagnosed until I was 39!! What’s even stupider is how blown away I was that my counselor even suggested that I was ADHD, I thought, that’s ridiculous, I can’t have ADHD LMAO!!! Uhh yeah I definitely scored through the roof on my test, no doubt definitely ADHD. Then I actually learned about it and was like, oh wow 😳 DUH 🙄 Explained my whole life! I was an out of control impulsive mess in my 20’s. Anyway blah blah blah Just wanted to shout out to my fellow hyperactivity peep!🤜🤛👋

      lovingod4ever33 - Omg lol! I talk WAY TOO much!! There’d even been times in my life that I spoke so much it became awkward during social gatherings. I say more than I need to sometimes. Also, I can’t sit still. Literally. I constantly tap my foot or squirm around. I’m 28 and not very athletic, but somehow someway I naturally have it in me to just keeeeeep goooiiiinnnggg. My wife calls me monkey... in a sweet, term of endearment kinda way. But she means it lol! As soon as I discovered that I actually DO have ADHD, I just felt as if all my questions as to why I was so “off” or “weird” or “dumb” (you know, all the bad talk and bad names we ADHD’ers tend to give ourselves as we get older) got answered. Then I finally accepted myself and was just thankful that I’m not those words. ADHD is pretty awesome man. Glad there’s a whole tribe of us out there :)
      Also, I see your name, I love it. I love God too. He’s helped me so much and I have him to thank for not only helping me discover my disorder, but my entire life it self.
      Much love dude. God bless ❤️

    Working from home is what's finally pushed me to get a diagnosis, I have never been so unproductive in my life, in the office I have always got by but now I am struggling to do anything and all the tasks I have are piling up slowly.

    I saw a video where someone places her phone across the room and sets 3 alarms - 1st alarm is 30 minutes before absolute wake up time and she takes her meds with a drink of water and turns on a light in her room then goes back to bed, 2nd alarm is 15 minutes later and she gets to waste time online until 3rd alarm which is absolute get up and go time. I’m giving this a try this week. I like that it gives me permission to hit the snooze button, waste time, and still stay on schedule!

    I'm so glad I'm not alone! I've been a mess since covid started. I lost all my disability support from my school and it took several months just to get another counselor and start over. I was supposed to graduate this summer but I'm so behind I had to push back my graduation to fall, which will cost me money >.> I lost my summer job, though thankfully I have a grant to get me by. I'm supposed to be applying for jobs and working on my thesis, but I can hardly focus because of the stress. The one good thing from all this is that I'm really good at sewing since I've been making lots of masks lol
    I guess some things that helped with sewing is having a good podcast to look forward to listening while I'm working. One counselor also suggested having a sour candy when you sit down to work. I also started a morning and evening routine, but that was due to having bouts of insomnia to fix my sleep. To help me remember my routine, I took a little picture frame, wrote down my routine and also threw some encouraging words, and put it in the frame next to my bed. That way if I forget it's right next to me.

    Oh dear the same thing happened to me. I bought a new chair in the first week of quarantine. And I didn’t waste any minute and assembled it during work time in record time. But work? No good. I have now returned to working in the office most of the days in a week.

    My neighborhood coffee shop opened back up again for indoor seating. I am going there today. They were the reason I completed my grad school. I associate the place with sit and work. The food is good too. I didn’t realize how much I needed that little coffee shop until all this stuff happened in 2020. They might be why I could do my job and complete deadlines on time.

    I work from home and this is 100% my problem.
    I print shirts so I have to stay accountable to my customers or Amazon will kick me off their site and I will lose my business.. so that helps.. kind of.. I've been a wreck since November last year because of the current state of the country and several deaths in the family. Trying to get back to my old routine has been a nightmare.
    I tried to see a phsyciatrist to get an official diagnosis and maybe some medicine or coping skills but he basically just told me it sounds like I just hate my job and I need to stay off social media.
    Ridiculous since my mom is on Bi-polar pills and has been chronically depressed for 20 years, my brother has diagnosed ADHD and my other brother has autism. But, sure there is probably nothing wrong with me.
    So back to trying to cope on my own because I don't have health insurance and that visit cost me $317 and I only went because I was so far behind on my work that I'm literally almost completely out of money.

    I just discovered I have ADHD last week. I've always felt different than my peers, and I had actual tears of relief discovering that. I have a role as a project manager and oh boy that brought out the "best" of my condition. It got worse when quarantine hit, plus the imposter syndrome. I'm surprised I even got promoted.

    Tbh it’s both beneficial and chaotic. being in an office is so suffocating and stiff and I can’t sit still (plus I was always running late/behind and sometimes my adhd was super obvious in the office which made me always stressed) but at least I had structure and an environment that forced me to be somewhat productive. at the same time my days are a complete mess now and I feel like I am even more behind than I’ve ever been, i work longer hours now trying to catch up everyday. I feel so unmotivated and lazier than ever but at least Im less stressed about how I am perceived bc I can hide it and it’s an environment I can control more so I am more comfortable. I’m glad I found this channel tho 😭 I’ve been feeling so depressed but these videos are helping lol.

  • @davidclark2702
    @davidclark2702 2 года назад

    Amen to all this. I dreaded when they started making us work from home because I knew I needed the structure. I found some success with forcing myself to make the bed, get dressed and brush my teeth before leaving my bedroom. It's been working to get me started in the morning. Now I need to figure out how to lay off these damn youtube vids. Self-discipline is SO HARD!!!

    This also applies to online school. I used to be an A student. This year, I'm 20 assignments behind in history alone.
    It's a good thing that at least precalc is interesting so I can work on that, but catching up in that by doing 2 assignments a day wears me out so that day will be much less productive on paper.
    The material isn't hard for me. It's just that I'm having trouble focusing on the stuff to actually get it down and done, but not being able to focus when I used to be on top of everything makes it that much worse.

    • @duncanbug
      @duncanbug 3 года назад

      I’ve never been an A student but I think that’s because I’ve never tried meds. I’m a B+ student lol. Think I’ll need meds for the first time for online school. It’s so brutal. Good luck dude!

    Hi buddy, talking to you from the future in January of 2021. Yes this is seriously the exact same issue I deal with. Sometimes it's not so bad because I have something exciting for me to work on, but if the project or work I have to do just isn't that interesting I end up in exactly the same cycle you talk about in the video. Hope you're doing better in 2021!

    This was great! The one thing that I have learned is that alow the distractions. But only allow them in either small specified windows or when you do get distracted you have set up that you will allow yourself to get distracted for a short period of time. It rewards the brain and then allows you to get back to what you were doing. So your brain isn't on fire because you didnt deny it relief. I do this and I am medicated and it has helped me

    hey! I'm scrolling through all your videos and this perfectly describes my scenario - just finished college and my first big boi job is an office job from home LOL. the hyperfocus, the distractions, all of it
    Graduating in covid and getting thrusted into a real world again after being in school for my entire life is absolutely disGUSTING but I'm building comfort in my current home and going to try and grow with a new perspective on myself :). I haven't been diagnosed or even considered being "not normal" until my junior/senior year of college and your content right now is so helpful for me
    Keep it up :)

    I work in the field. 75% of the time I don’t even get to go home at the end of the shift, since the current issue began I’ve spent less than half the year in the post code I live in.
    Work didn’t even care if I could buy food from the supermarket when I got home
    Yay.

    Omg I just love you so much!! I was cracking up for most of this video!😂 But seriously though you are definitely NOT alone! I have found the whole getting dressed right away thing is definitely key to how many day will progress. It mentally gets my body and mind set into go mode, plus it’s super hard to get comfy for long with regular clothes and shoes on 😄

To combat this I wear headphones while I work. This does tend to distract me from tasks a bit. Any other ideas or tips that others have tried. BTW I'm 51 years old and have only been diagnosed in the past month so I'm on a steep learning curve.
