I actually agree with that, I really like the old textures of grass and leaves; stuff like that. With 1.12 that came out, they brightened the wool colours again so now the wool looks the same as in the old versions.

Yeah. The simplicity and novelty of it gave it a certain unique spark that cannot be replicated today. I feel that this spark began to die out somewhere in the middle of 1.6 or so. Minecraft as it once was will be missed and will carry a special place in my heart.
I remember a buddy of mine introducing me to Minecraft freshman year of college back in 2011. Such a relaxing game. Me and a few friends would all have our laptops just exploring and building for hours. Mod scene was super fun as well. Stopped playing after a few months and just never picked it back up. Good times though.
This is the only History of Minecraft video I have ever found (its also the first one I've ever found too) that actually includes every single one including detailed descriptions of what was added and when! This is in my opinion the BEST one out there! And the choice of music just makes it wild! Love it! I will most likely remember this video for the rest of my life.
Yea, sorry for any confusion there. I was just recording alpha gameplay to display in the video on Alpha v1.2.6 however I put the yellow Alpha 1.0 to show what updates the things were added in. So only pay attention to the yellow font and you should be good :)

i had the full version back in the alpha days but sometimes i was bored and went on that website version i LOVED that version aswell as the full version. i wish the website version was still here i would be grinding the shit outa that insted of that wack 1.9 bs. just fucking around on the website version was just so funny.
When I started playing 1.3 beta I was only like 7, BUT BOY where times simpler, no griefers on server the community was amazing and we didn't rely on mods to have fun. I wish I could go back to when I was a noob :(
I was 13 when I started playing Minecraft beta 1.8.1, on my first survival world I thought could deal extra damage by using sticks or I dug down to the bedrock with bare hands... man I miss the these times when I didn't know anything about the game and still had to discover so many things. I just loved the simplicity but after release 1.2.5 things got to complex for me and I barely played Also I now wish I would have started back in alpha
My dad showed me this game in 2010 (as he was a gamer himself) and it was probably the most life-changing thing for me ever. I have so many memories of playing this game when I was little (well, *littler*) and judging from this comment section many others have had a similar experience. God 6 years go by fast. I bought this on veteran’s day of 2011. I thought spiral staircases were the best thing. Thank god we still have Tekkit Classic as well. It’s the old school players last hope.
I first started playing Minecraft around 2011-2012. You see I first started playing on my brothers Xbox 360. Back then Most of my structures where stone or not that detailed. When the time of me playing on my brothers Xbox was over, Jungle trees came in and iron golems. Now, I started playing on my mom's phone and for a while I didn't realize I was playing on Minecraft Lite. 2013-2014. Now, I start playing it on my computer around 2015. Around this time I first started building cars and putting in more detail than I did few years back. 2016-2017, I played on my tablet. And I still do. Note: I was 6 years old when I first started playing Minecraft.

Found this 5 years ago or so and havent stopped loving the game. That was when there wasn't all the judgemental rubbish about MC being for kids. I miss those days.

My first encounter with Minecraft was in 2010. I was at a party and a kid was playing it. When Minecraft PE came out, me and my brother HAD to buy it. Ahh, I remember those alpha days in PE, where you only had a few items to build with. It's now 2017, and it's crazy how much such a nice little game could grow into millions upon millions of players.
I started playing in 2009 I remember it quite well actually. Shame now minecraft has become too complex the worst addition was the cool down on swords. I hadn't for a few months and when I logged on to that, well I stopped playing I haven't played since. If anyone at mojang reads this however unlikely it may be, bring back the fun. You're good developers you know what do, you just need to connect more with the community like a few years ago and the community wants back is the fun.
The old combat system is for pro players and the new combat system is for noobs/ kids who can just wait for the cooldown and deal a critical hit, not a good additions but I will miss clicking too much xD
I miss the old combat mechanics, thanks to the new mechanics, I literally most likely to die if I planned to kill someone in the Hunger Games, so when I'm playing Hunger Games, I would just hide until the Deathmatch, where I either win, or die.

For those of you who say 'the good old days...' or something like that, its not the game that changed you, its you that change the game for yourself. You just got bored of the game, not the game itself got boring(they had so many updates they put!), its just that you changed, you evolved your thinking of the game, not the game itself. Next time, don't think your past is more precious than your present(thats simply not true!). You could even go back to past versions with the current minecraft launcher,Golly! I know minecraft is not how it used to be, and I to really miss the old times(i still enjoy minecraft tho),but just face it, some things in life are just hard to understand, but remember that you have changed, not the game. Started playing in alpha i honestly miss those times :( since the game got enchants it went downhill imo. I'd love it if they brought back like the old minecraft without enchants without sprinting food that heals you up instant and the OP bows. That was the best minecraft it has ever been imo.

I started playing back in 2013 around the 1.5 update. I know that those 4 years are nothing compared to players who started it in alpha or beta, but I still miss the good old days.

This video made me a bit emotional 😢because minecraft was firstly just a game with grass and cobblestone and now... it's a game were you can build whatever your heart desires!

I remember one day long ago, I created a new world. I saw beautiful mountains, blue skies, and trees farther then my eyes can see. Years pass, I see people arguing, hacking, people making obsidian bases, and everything. Now I remember when I created my first world, it was so peaceful. It was perfect. It was beautiful. Thinking about that in the present time drops small, nostalgic, sad tear to my eye.

My first encounter with Minecraft was in 2010. I was at a party and a kid was playing it.
When Minecraft PE came out, me and my brother HAD to buy it. Ahh, I remember those alpha days in PE, where you only had a few items to build with.
It's now 2017, and it's crazy how much such a nice little game could grow into millions upon millions of players.
I started playing in 2009 I remember it quite well actually. Shame now minecraft has become too complex the worst addition was the cool down on swords. I hadn't for a few months and when I logged on to that, well I stopped playing I haven't played since. If anyone at mojang reads this however unlikely it may be, bring back the fun. You're good developers you know what do, you just need to connect more with the community like a few years ago and the community wants back is the fun.
The old combat system is for pro players and the new combat system is for noobs/ kids who can just wait for the cooldown and deal a critical hit, not a good additions but I will miss clicking too much xD
I miss the old combat mechanics, thanks to the new mechanics, I literally most likely to die if I planned to kill someone in the Hunger Games, so when I'm playing Hunger Games, I would just hide until the Deathmatch, where I either win, or die.

You've just grown out of it, clearly, as you're too clingy to actually let something evolve. It's funny, actually, since plenty of people in the past asked for more content to Minecraft, and then when they get it they whine.

For those of you who say 'the good old days...' or something like that, its not the game that changed you, its you that change the game for yourself. You just got bored of the game, not the game itself got boring(they had so many updates they put!), its just that you changed, you evolved your thinking of the game, not the game itself. Next time, don't think your past is more precious than your present(thats simply not true!). You could even go back to past versions with the current minecraft launcher,Golly!
I know minecraft is not how it used to be, and I to really miss the old times(i still enjoy minecraft tho),but just face it, some things in life are just hard to understand, but remember that you have changed, not the game.

Started in Alpha v1.2.6 in 2010. Back when Zombies dropped feathers.
Started playing in alpha i honestly miss those times :( since the game got enchants it went downhill imo. I'd love it if they brought back like the old minecraft without enchants without sprinting food that heals you up instant and the OP bows. That was the best minecraft it has ever been imo.
I started playing Minecraft around 2011. I just miss the older versions where it doesn't crash every few minutes on my ipad or phone and it doesn't make my game on the computer all slow.
I remember when the game was in your browser before you could buy it. Then the game came out. I remember alpha 1.0 where they added cows and boats.
This was a good trip down memory lane for me.
