Gnome is very popular-- for some stupid reason--I sure can't understand why. I'm NOT knocking it for those that like it- but to me there is NO "flow" and it's just repetitive stupidity...I've tried seriously to like it and use it-- 4 different installs kept for a month or so each- and hATED it-- still do-- maybe I'm using it wrong. but no one can show me how they do it-.. BUT I never saw unity and don't usually do much with ubuntu-- but I'll look.

When I started using the workspaces in GNOME - it just fell into place. Having different apps open on different workpaces, and seamlessly swapping between them nice and easy......it was when I started using GNOME as it was designed to be used, now I can see why people love it. I can also understand the 'flow'.....its very difficult/irritating going back to an old desktop interface after I've been on GNOME for six weeks haha! I used to complain that you couldn't minimise windows/apps like on other desktops and it kepe me away from Fedora for ages, but the reason you can't do that on GNOME, is because if you are using it as its meant to be used, you don't need to minimise anything! I jumped in with both feet just before Fedora 38 was released and then upgraded - don't regret it for a moment!

@@bobpage6597 SEE, now I LIKE the sound of that... but I've tried- just can NOT adjust to it- - to me there IS no flow.. at all.. just clunky full pages of crap.. I using tiling on kde- no minimizing unless I WANT to... but no bounching back and forth with pages either.. I LIKE the look of gnome and wish I could use it-- but I've tried-- just can't do it.

@@davidwayne9982 Well its each to their own. I believe the design goal of GNOME is intended to 'get out of the users way' and allow them to focus soley on whatever they need to be working on - hence the full page workspaces. For me it works - and its a dream on a laptop with swipe gestures haha :D Fedora 38 is the first distro I am now on where I don't feel like hopping because it works so well for me.

@@bobpage6597 I understand the intent-- and I WISH I COULD get it-- I really do- I LIKE the look and my MIND tells me it's EFFICIENT-- but when I try to use it- it GETS IN my way.. maybe my wiring is screwed up somehow... :) Who knows.. but I DO like it and wish I COULD use it..

@@bobpage6597 I used POP- OS for a good while- BASED on gnome.. and it eventually got on my nerves- I loved the TILINg- but didn't like the rest.. and WANTED to.
