The movie flamin hot was amazing, I grew up until i was 13 in a town with mostly hispanic kids and we loved our flamin hot cheetos. Almost everyday at lunch a kid would have the full size bag. Watching this movie it really showed me the history and how powerful it was for hispanic people, it may seem like just a chip but it fastly turned an essential to their culture and lifestyle. This movie brings back nostalgia for me as a child and I still eat hot cheetos to this day
its a lie, he is a lie.😅
As a Hispanic it’s unfortunate to know he was in fact a liar

Richard Montañez story has already been verified and corroborated by everyone involved. You have to understand, PepsiCo HAS to say that it was their idea and not his solely, that's just to prevent him or some of his heirs from receiving compensation off the obviously billions of dollars that his idea created. It's the same thing that happens to scientists who work for big organizations. They have to sign waivers and contracts that anything they invent or discover while working for said company, is the sole ownership and rights of the company. This man is an absolute hero and inspiration a nuestra gente y la raza AND to everyone of every race, sex, creed and class. Period!
amen!!! I know him and a friend of mine is in this movie. I am trying to find old articles of newspapers from that year when they were released and once I do, I'm going to send those into L.A. Times that wrote a DISGUSTING article about him yesterday...smfh! worst part is that the one who wrote that article is a white washed latino...QUE VERGUUUUUUENZA! the movie was AMAZING! If he wasn’t at the center of creating Flamin Hot Cheetos, how exactly did a Mexican janitor with a criminal background rise through the corporate ranks in the 80’s? They need to GTFOH with that BS and give that man his credit.

@ryecatcher25 a corporate employee of such magnitude or any there of, would NOT dare to divulge details in any facet, especially on a YOU TUBE comment to dissect, discredit or attempt to "take" credit regarding a movie authorized to be told as: TRUE STORY" , ESPECIALLY FRITO LAY. THIS MOVIE WOULDN'T BE OUT WITHOUT AUTHORIZATION. ESPECIALLY SPECIFICALLY USING THE EXACT COMPANY NAME. .. Said company could EASILY have sued to not be included in a small production film. They cleared it. Obviously, down to 'PepsiCo, in which I've never heard of so yeah. Nice try. I didn't say he invented it either, but this comment is a joke.

Loved this movie today! So inspirational👏🏾👏🏾👏🏾
My dad was a son of migrant workers in Salinas Valley. He served in the Navy during WWII. He dropped out of high school at age 14 to help his family because he's dad had a stroke and he needed to support them. He was determined to have a better life for his wife and future family. He became a gardener at the Presidio San Francisco and they offered him a Foreman position but he had to have a degree in horticulture. They paid for him to attend UC Davis to get his degree. His promotion provided him with a bigger salary to support his children and buy a home. He was my inspiration and he always said whatever you put your mind to you can do. He was my biggest inspiration and my mom inspired him each day.
It goes to the saying. Behind every great man there's a great woman.
It's too bad he did not invent the flaming hot cheetos
I just watched it its SO GOOD!
They always use “controversy “ to diminish truth because those who fear others success fear they will be replaced ! Richard showed others that community is where it’s at and if you want to be a part of that community regardless of color you can! The devil is in the details and the one who wrote that article is detailed oriented ! Flamin Hot was a great movie and should be made into a sit com! I saw it twice ! As a black woman i identified with this movies ! The central characters might have been Chicano but that was definitely a black American story too! It was an American story ! We don’t have to bring others down to elevate our contributions to the fabric of America ! America is Flamin Hot!!

I read a few articles where he was interviewed and he admits he didn't invent flamin' hot Cheetos nor was he involved with it's development. The articles went on to explain at one point he supposedly submitted an idea for spicy snacks during one of the outreach programs(not sure of the title) and claims he tested some spices in his garage but was not actually allowed to participate in the invention of the Flamin' Hot Cheetos. Its just funny how a man who started at the bottom of a company ended up in an executive position and with a net worth of over 15 million dollars.. there is more to this story than you think.. new media will tell you they interviewed more than 20 employees.. well.. who are they? Because this man is STILL in an executive position .. why would they allow this man to stay within the company if he was bashing and claiming he invented a multi billion dollar brand with no snake in the game. There was non disclosure agreements made and Eva Longoria is standing behind him to show the true creator. Maybe Frito Lay wanted to try a spicy cheeto in the past with lab scientists creating it.. however this man gave the simple solutions.. basically ingredients from the ground.. simple things that the hispanics have used for generations...
Tbh I can see both sides Frito Lay mass produced it and put their name on it and their own spin on the bag. However the idea was from a humble employee from the inside just trying to do the right thing by his family and the people employing him and his fellow co workers. Bravo sir. I love flamin hot you guided them to something clearly not just hispanics love but quite literally anyone could enjoy. Great job im glad you and your family have been compensated. However big business cant admit it because of their financial structure and operation tactics. Wish there was more honestly and willingness to let your "HEART OF" Workers have more opportunity 🙏.. before youre creative HIRE A LAWYER thats what this world has come to. Must be in writing to get your credit.

The company was working on a spicy chip. But the flavor for flaming hot came from him and his wife making it in their kitchen. Frito Lay wouldn’t know because they just got the recipe from him after that. I personally believe him on that. LA Times is so bad at reporting.

@@Jezzzzz818 he wasn’t there. But since there’s proof the company was working on a spicy chip which the movie actually shows. The woman claiming credit probably worked on the spicy chip favors in the laboratories. Unfortunately, he's lied about nearly everything in his story. The CEO that he says sent him to headquarters for the pitch wasn't even CEO until years after the invention of flaming hot cheetos. He says he made a pitch in front of hundreds of executives, but no one remembers his pitch.
