I work for a scrap company, sitting on lunch break right now. I watched someone bring in 2 standard garbage cans with clean copper pipe in it. He left with over $1500. For 2 garbage cans. Not even full. $3.40/lb adds up very quick.

Dam how bad was the nail that you would have to save for a new tire. I have been going to scrap yard for years and have not had that problem yet. I'm not saying it can't happen but if it should happen that I get a puncture in my tire I can take it to a tire shop for a patch which usually cost me $20 or a plug for $10; which I can and have done myself of plugging a puncture done simply by going to your auto parts store or Walmart and purchasing the inexpensive repair kit. Btw the patch would be the safer and secure fix but the plug can work just as well if just done right and follow instructions to how to use. I've use the plug over the years and have been satisfied with the results

I watched 3 goofs start to take my copper for my job. Guy told me the owner needs this copper on another job. Me think to myself, I'm the owner and I only have one site. All I can say is my truck shoved the mini van right into the drainage pit. I call a particular scrapper to clean the floors of metal. 6hrs and he has 2 pails of nails, fixtures, steel tube, ductwork, any screws, left over copper nails off the roof if any. I even tell the workers to fill a barrel with aluminum cans during the job. Thieves bad, honest scrappers good

Hey do you have a general idea how much money you would get for a full residential hvac system? We give this stuff away m-f to our scrap guy and wondering how much we're missing out on..
