Hi there, great review, thank you. Have you or anyone else had issues with connectivity between devices? Such as loosing connection during a scan or glitchy/patchy views (similar to issues one may have with video calls such as skype or facetime)? Is there a delay at all between moving the probe and what shows up on the screen or is it real time such that one could perform nerve blocks or iv access procedures easily?
Hello, thank you for your kind words :) regarding connectivity issues, I haven’t experienced any at all. Very rapid pairing process and no sudden unpairing. Regarding delay, it is real time but compared to a cart machine, a very slight delay can be appreciated similar (but less) to when you move the hand in front of a camera recording… It is frankly unappreciable but I want to be honest with my followers :)
@@mastersofultrasound Thank you for the quick reply. I am liking the vscan very very much. I'm an anesthesiologist, so I would likely use it much more for blocks and vascular access with a small amount of pocus mixed in. I just need to come up with the cash since the price point is fairly higher than the butterfly.
In case cash is a constraint, you can check the EagleView review in my channel, I compare it with the Vscan Air at the end of the video and costs much less (2820$ = 2400€, compared to the 4495$ = 3990€ of the Vscan Air)
Great video, doctor, do you have experience with the Clarius line? Which one would you recommend for musculoskeletal and regional blocks in anesthesia?
Hi, great video! Especially the part wherein you showed the images taken by the device. I was just wondering if it's possible to label the images using the app? I do msk ultrasound and would need to label the structures for my report. Thank you
Hello I have heard it heats up after using for some time, what is your experience with this? Do you also experience that with Eagleview or butterfly or lumify? Also do you feel the quality of the tablet/phone weights in with the usage and image quality ?
Hello, yeah the heating is quite common among all this wireless devices after aprox 15min of continued use... it recovers quite quickly after a short break. And I regarding the device auality, I would say it doesn't matter much as long as it quite "new" and is compatible... didn't notice any change between my prior iPhone 7 and an iPhone 13 Pro for example. Companies usually list their compatible devices on their webpages :)
Thank you very much for the review; I have some questions: is the battery removable? How about the performance of the abdominal transducer for cardiac ultrasound?
You’re welcome! :) 1st: No it’s not. The device is waterproof so it’s sealed and doesn’t have any removable or accessible part. 2nd: IMHO is astonishing. I thought that the wide footprint could be an issue but apart from the high parasternal short (which in my case I was unable to obtain a clear Mercedes-Benz sign view), it was not a problem (specially the PLAX in the video is really top!). As you’ve probably seen the image quality on the B-mode is really really good. Color doppler is not that great for cardiac assessment tho (but you should keep in mind this device is not made to assess a mild mitral stenosis for example). I will upload a video comparing it to Butterfly (the most comparable competitor) soon, so stay tuned to see the differences in performance! 😊👍🏻
@@mastersofultrasound Thank you for your answers. I was surprised by the quality of the heart windows, but the drop in framerate is disappointing. I have had a Vscan Dual Probe for years and I love it and have thought about renewing it for this one, but I am concerned about the durability of the battery and the lack of a proper cardiac sector transducer.
Yes I understand your thoughts, if you already have one it’s not the same as someone who wants to buy their first one. If you’re only (or mainly) gonna do cardiac exam, GE recommends the Vscam Extend with the PA probe, that unfortunately I haven’t been able to test so I can’t give my opinion about that... 😊👍🏻
Hi does it need to be paired with the ge vscan device only or it can also be paired with an ipad or tablet? Any advantage over the vscan extend ultrasound? Is it good for msk sono guided injections? Thanks
Hello, the device pairs with smartphones or tablets. The advantage over vscan extend is the wireless feature and dual probes (curved and linear), the linear probe is great for msk injections :)
@@mastersofultrasound That's great! Really looking forward to it. The Butterfly IQ+ has quite a few fans at the hospitals where I work (myself included), but so far I have not met anyone using the GE Vscan. Even though the butterfly IQ+ is very versatile, the image quality does leave something to be desired when compared to a Sonosite S2.

Honestly im not that much impressed ,i was thinking it will have better resolution compare to our product but resolution and sensitivity are near about same with sonostar . I believe price comparison between GE probe and sonostar probe will be 2x .
