@Meta Man that's a good take actually. I still say the "World Title" as they used it in 2006 was not as prestigious as holding the WWE title, especially compared to the WWE title in 2003 just a couple years after guys like Austin and The Rock held it. I've always felt it was their way of putting a "top title" on him, but never THEEE Title. It's crazy to think this guy never wore the NAME BRAND title. The thing that made me the most upset was how long HHH took to cover book for the pin. 21 seconds after he hit the pedigree and no kick out. You can’t tell me that book ain’t mad about that to this day.
So, his 2nd Wrestlemania and, as an underdog, he faced the top guy of the #1 brand for the top championship and that wasn't important enough to include in the documentary? If it was any other person, it would be a major talking point in any documentary about them. And if they truly believed that the "story" was something made up just for clicks, they wouldn't hesitate in talking about the match in any special involving Booker, and the fact that they avoid as much as possible to even mention it speaks louder than anything Prichard or Booker say.
Triple H wasn't the top guy, on the top brand, with the top title. Brock was the main guy, and by this point...the World title had yet to eclipse the WWE title. On top of that, Smackdown had been doing better numbers than Raw since the fall

Just my opinion, the way things are today is why wrestling can't reach its full potential for us as fans. From business sponsors in wwe by it being publicly traded to cancel culture of social media, we are where we at and bringing up things like this muddy the waters to get people going with emotions. I could be wrong but I don't believe the story line was left out of the bio by accident, but merely to sensationalize something to pose a narrative and get likes or click bait 🤔. Anybody around from that time still kept watching and watched Booker T go on to do great things, become King Booker and bring his real life Queen to the spotlight with him. A phenomenal feat. Bottom line Booker T was amazing in the ring. His speed, quickness, agility, power, character, his mind for doing things differently were off the charts. His matches with Goldberg, Sting, Steiner, or tagging with his brother, man o man
What you're missing Booker is that, yes we understand its not the most significant moment in your career. And it absolutely does not define you. But the problem is that you are not addressing that fact that what happened that night was wrong. The issue is not even so much that you lost. Its how it happened. And the controversy of race wouldn't even be in the equation if Hunter didn't say what he said in the promo on Raw before the match. Even if Triple H is not a racist in real life, I'm sure even he knows that he crossed the line that night with what he said. On top of the fact that he beat you the way he did at mania. When historically with a build up like that and how the story line played out, everyone knows you should have won that match as the prevailing underdog. Everyone saw him hit you with the pedigree and wait at least 10 seconds before pinning you. You know the reality is that you should've kicked out after moving slowly for an entire eternity before covering you. Don't act dumb. And don't insult us to just think that was a coincidence. You were given the shovel that night. And they buried the hell out of you. I don't care how much you were paid for doing the job. That just wasn't right.
That's true, and due to the nature of HHH's promos he didn't just disrespect Booker, he disrespected a portion of the audience. That fact that the story has him say that and then be proven right on his victory is an insult to that portion of the audience. Everyone involved in that storyline should be ashamed IMO.
I honestly don't think that people are looking for an angle with the WM19 match. They genuinely believe that Triple H should have given you the rub. Triple H didn't need the win that night. It's a respect thing. No matter what your real feelings for each other were/are, it's a respect thing. Plain and simple.
Booker T is such a great story teller. One of the all time greats in and out of the ring. Booker T is the true definition of hardwork dedication and consistency paying off in the long run.
He is being politically correct . It was bullshit and more than just a “ job”. I understand he wants to stay in WWE good graces because he still gets a paycheck from then
You'll forever be one of my favorites, and I will argue with anyone who thinks you aren't one of the greatest of all time. I have facts to prove it, but my opinion provides the passion. Your post -wrestling takes and podcasts just proves you're also a hell of a dude outside the squared circle, and that's awesome to learn.
That storyline was horrible but that shouldn't overshadow Book's whole career. And we've talked about it to death. I'm more upset about Book dropping 2 titles in WWE than that storyline. Gave the US title to Kanyon then lost to Rock. We have way more GREAT memories of Book than bad ones.

When telling my life story that’s just not an important moment in my life. So many amazing moments and real life tragedies a wrestling angle just isn’t on that list
As a Booker T and main event mafia fan minus the king booker gimmick (although there were many great matches that happened during that time period) he is highly underrated. There should be more key Booker T matches being shown.
I was shocked then when he lost. I liked HHH a lot but it always seemed he was always winning when he wasn't THAT good to win all those matches. He just seemed to be the guy that was chosen to be the top heel that worked with the REAL top guys. If I'm saying that right.
Sadly I never looked at Booker T or Triple H the same way after that racist program. We are judged on character not skin color and race should never ever play a part in entertainment or real life… The fact that Booker T placed money over dignity shows why so many black people have no respect whatsoever for him …
I just don’t like how HHH continues to flex his power over you like when he “fired you” on live tv and said just kidding. It’s just frustrating, but like you said you are so much more than that storyline.
Booker T is absolutely a wrestling legend and is synonymous with King of the Ring imo. His greatness definitely isn’t questioned. I just think in those documentaries, people want to hear their thoughts and feelings towards some of the darkest moments in their careers. I think in this case it would have been a good thing because Booker T clearly didn’t let that match define his career.
WWE crapped on Booker from “jump” - losing his WCW belt to The Rock immediately (although Rock’s promos on Book were classic)…getting mopped up by Stone Cold in the grocery store (as entertaining as that was…I can’t front)…that weak ass King Booker title (like tossing him crumbs)…losing to Triple H at WrestleMania, even after all signs in the universe pointed to Booker getting that belt…and last but not least, Triple H firing Booker on MNR because while commentating, Booker criticized Triple H’s leadership, and then Triple H hiring him in the same segment just to show who was boss! That one really messed me up!
As a black man I gotta say Booker is one classy positive black man. All his answers and responses to these controversial topics are just an inspiration to us as black people. Just an all around class act!
But we were kids watching that build up and seeing you lose after all of that crap from HHH hurt. That's why the story still resonates with black folks.

The Angle was shock value without question. Had less than 3 weeks to build a main event angle. I've always enjoyed the Triple H/Booker T match and feud, and I think the fact that people are talking about it twenty years later says a lot. According to Bruce Prichard, it sounds like the original plan was for Triple H to face Scott Steiner, but when that fell through Booker T was the backup plan and a feud had to be built quickly. I think people forget that he won a battle royal by throwing The Rock out, had a mini-feud with him, and despite Triple H's WORDS, Booker T left him a bloody mess afterward (multiple times), and even pinned him clean in a tag match. Seriously, go watch the video package before their match. PHYSICALLY Booker T got the better of Triple H the entire feud. Triple H may have won the match, and dragged out of the arena with Flair's help, but Booker T came out as a major star in my opinion. Triple H was playing a character, and he did a hell of a job playing an evil SOB, and so did Ric Flair for that matter. Their WrestleMania XIX match was good, but the only problem in my mind is that the fans just weren't into it. Triple H got a pop when his music hit, and Flair got what you would expect from a WrestleMania crowd, but the fans were mostly cool for Booker T. It is what it is, and afterward Booker T would hang around the main event scene with Triple H, Michaels, Jericho, Nash, and Flair for a bit before spinning off into fantastic feuds with Jericho and Christian for the IC Title. In my opinion, LOSING did Booker T more good than a short title reign ever would've, which I believe any title reign would've been when both Nash and Goldberg were coming in to main event that year. By summer however, Booker T was getting HUGE pops and became one of the major players for RAW (and SD the next year). And Triple H was at the same level as Rock and Austin at that time, was the top heel in the company, and had a bunch of fresh faces to feud with. It was money waiting to be printed. If you're reading this, Booker, I've always been a huge fan of yours and it'd be an honor to meet you one day. In my opinion, you seem to understand what's really important in life, which is something a lot of wrestlers and fans seems to miss. God and family, and happiness. You and Triple H were playing characters, and you both did a tremendous job seeing how we're still talking about it twenty years later.
@@RealityOfWrestling @Reality Of Wrestling No problem, friend, and thank you for the response and kind words. Everything needs context, especially in sports and/or entertainment. While everyone points at what Triple H was SAYING, they miss Booker T continuously beating the crap out of him thereby shutting him up. Booker T beat him clean on RAW while Triple H needed Ric Flair's constant cheating to win at WM19, and even then he just barely won (may have even been concussed lol). I'm personally a fan of both men (not a Triple H hater), and one interaction between them that I loved was during the "Underroonie" post-RAW segment. Booker T could barely keep a straight face whenever Triple H opened his mouth, and it's always good to remember that these guys entertainers who just want to make the paying customers happy, and it doesn't get much better than Booker T and (evil SOB) Triple H. For both guys WM19 was just a footnote in what are/were hall of fame careers, but it's still one hell of a story all these years later. God bless, and keep up the great work :)
@@blakejames9743 It's such a shame it's look at so negatively twenty years later when it was a pretty good feud and a good example of making "chicken salad out of chicken crap". Even the ending of their WrestleMania match is botched (Booker T botched the Harlem Hangover and came down right on Triple H's head), and everybody continues giving TRIPLE H crap for it. That'd be like blaming Kurt Angle for Brock Lesnar's Shooting Star Press botch. Their rematch in Atlanta really deserves more eyes on it, and if Booker T was going to win the World Title (which wasn't going to happen since HHH/Nash and HHH/Goldberg were the big money matches and Booker T was dealing with injuries, that would've been the match to pull the trigger and have a solid transitional reign.

I know you a minority 😁😁😁if not you're a honorary one today

WWE survived worse things than that storyline.

A lot of people don’t look at everything else going on. Great job breaking it down
@@RealityOfWrestling @Reality Of Wrestling No problem, friend, and thank you for the response and kind words.
That feud was the best thing cooking, and the black community invested in wrestling.
Booker T should've won that match don't care what nobody says, I know Booker takes it in stride he did have great reigns down the line but he should've won that night.
Thanks Elroy
I’m sorry Booker you’re part of the problem. How do you expect great black wrestlers to succeed when you let this racism bs slide.
Facts
We say don’t say it but wrestling is entertainment, it’s a show of personalities and after the show it’s gonna have you talk it’s a show of everyday people.
That visual pin triple h had on booker before he covered him to win was so unnecessary though. Make booker seem not in his league
For me the bio was great, even tho I always knew your story, as a black man yo old hood, look my old hood, certain parts of yo life reminds me of mine, it's a cold game.. and the fact it reminds me of how old I am, I remember living in memphis and seeing GI Bro on some local station and then watching espn after school and seeing GWF and Ebony Express, just old, lol.
Thanks bro ✊🏾
I think they are referring to one comment HHH made in the promo, leading up to the match. Which was one of the most racist things to say.
Booker, even though I still wished you had won that match, I'm glad you brought some clarity to this.,
I dont care what booker says. He was screwed at WM 19. and he didnt address the racism promo here. I was a huge fan of him since him battling for the TV championship on WCW. I was frustrated for years while they used him as a mid card after 19. Even when he won the belt as King Booker. He lost it against batista right after booker beat him up out of respect for himself and the locker room behind scenes. It's a shame. I've been a booker t fan for years, and I think people are realizing more today that he deserved more
