I just came across Rue at my local nursery today and I had to bring it home. It has such a distinctive smell and fascinating history and uses! I'm very excited to learn morea about my new plant.
I really love this video. I bought rue the other day, not knowing that it has properties to clear the lungs (and nose). I bought it, and a few other herbs. When I got home I repotted my herbs into bigger pots and when I got to rue.... I felt like I really wanted to smell it. So I squeezed a leaf gently between my fingers and smelt my finger tips and wow! Did it open up my nasal passages and it was like my throat had opened aswell. Let me tell you, I'm an asthmatic, and for the rest of that day we'll into the next morning my nose and throat felt clear. Like I had a vapour rub infront of me. I've decided to be careful with rue, as it is very strong even as a small plant. But I know it's very helpful and I do believe it does have insecticide properties as cockroaches have been scarce since adding it to my backyard herb collection. Really enjoyed this informative video thankyou! 🙏
What an amazing experience! Thank you so much for sharing this. I also have a mild case of asthma and I find Rue to be such an incredible lung tonic herb. I made a Hydrosol with the leaves after my grandmother had a huge harvest and I would spray it in my room and on my pillow. I really love the way the scent lingers and keeps my eyes and lungs clear all day. Enjoy your cockroach free garden!
What a great video Ashley my mom likes to infuse rue in rubbing alcohol, she uses it for join pain. She told me that my great grandmother treasure this plant.
Oh, my goodness! Protection against other people's energy is every empath's dream! Thank you for mentioning this! I will spread the word. Now where do we buy this plant?
I take rue pellets for arthritis, but I also am currently making rue oil in olive oil with a bit of salt for an arthritis salve. I keep a plant and I keep some rue oil in a jar on my beds headboard and I do have to say that Ive been sleeping better. I always sleep peacefully near rue.
I’ve also suffered from earaches ever since I was a kid with infection and swimmers ear all kinds, and we’ve always used the leaves of this wonderful plant to cure them. It works fantastic. It stops the pain almost immediately as soon as it gets into the ear the pain diminishes .just use about three little leaves put it in a cotton ball or a square of toilet paper, crush it and stick it in the ear and it’s fantastic especially if you have little ones and do not want to use tons of antibiotics and painkillers. It just helps subside through those nights when they’re suffering through the pain before you get to the doctor. Of course this is not medical advice. This is just some thing I’ve used ever since I was little and I am using it with my children as well.
@@SkyHouseHerbs I’ve found even tho Rue stands alongside other tough protection plants like White Sage & Wormwood..Rue has a unique mystical feminine energy that runs through the blue of the leaves. & the flowers have a happiness effect on people. I managed a few public gardens in my area & sell plants... I’m always planting, selling & growing Rue. So I see the way the plant draws people in & mystifies people. To me Rue has Female Warrior energy. And I use Rue for boarders & hedges as protection plants 🌱
@@gardeningnewearth3680 how lovely! Thank you! Yes, it is quite attractive to many new plant people, this is a great point. This “happiness effect” is something I experience too. It’s like a deep recognition or affirmation of my more mystical side. Thanks for sharing this! And female warrior energy is a great image too. I’ll explore this when my rue comes back this year. ✨Cheers!
Is there a specific species to look for? I located a nursery nearby that has a meadow rue/Thalictrum....is that similar enough to the rue you are sharing about? I want to get the one that you are recommending. Thanks again...!
I live in auburn Washington and I could not find this plant in any of the nursery’s near me I went to like 5 and they said they don’t Carry them and if they do they are seasonal . The only way I was able to find them are on Offerup so crazy 🤣 but a lot of Hispanics selling some so I’m bout to buy some this weekend ❤️ thank you for the video
Thanks for your video. I’m Italian and the thing about evil eye has always been very strong, “il malocchio” 😬😊 Always learning something new thanks to the information you share with us 🙏 And the amulet is beautiful!!!!
Most larger nurseries sell Rue as an ornamental. Ask for Rue or Ruta graveolens. You can also order seeds from Strictly Medicinal Seeds in OR but the can be challenging to grow from seed. I hope you can find it! It’s a wonderful plant to grow!
Thank you Ashley! I bought nettle tea and oh my gosh. So healing! Tha I you so much for making RUclips videos! I'm doing my best to get your name out there on my blog and sharing with friends. 🥰
That’s an interesting question. I’m not sure, it doesn’t have traditional uses for that kind of pattern. For fibromyalgia I’d think more about anti inflammatory and anodyne herbs like turmeric, bee balm, and black cohosh 🫶

Do you think the rue is helping your arthritis?
What is the proportion of oil and rue?

In Mexico, we place a plant in the front door for protection.
Amazing! My grandmother said they do the same thing in Sicily ❤️
Very sacred to the latin culture as well. I grew up with it protecting us, now have 3. A must have in our family.

Also known as "herb of grace" it is mentioned in the bible, book of Luke.
Known as Tena Adam in Ethiopia. Meaning health of Adam. Said to have been given to Noah as he got off the Ark to protect from evil forces.
