I wish you could get abs easily I was trying for years to finally realize my diet wasn't really good. Sometimes you just need someone to tell you what you should eat and how much. I got myself meal plan from site Next Level Diet and finally after couple of years of working out I got to see glimpse of a six pack.
Great info! Abs are made in the kitchen as well as by exercising. I used to do the 10 min workouts that promised abs, but those weren't enough for me. I'm 48, 5'4 135-140lbs, and I have been focusing on my abs workouts. I definitely see the improvement in strength and appearance. Gotta keep it up, thanks coach!

Here's a true story---I'm an older guy, but I still work out. I've maintained a 14% BF for the last couple of years, but I haven't seen well defined abs in decades. A couple of summers ago, I decided I was going to get really shredded to prove I still had it at the beach. I got down to 10-11% and I could see my abs again, but my face looked like crap. My temples and cheeks were all sunken in and my skin was sagging like I had jowls. My wife hated it--my kids made fun of me. I had to decide between my face or my abs---I chose my face. This is another thing no one talks about.
At 14% bodyfat, you can definitely maintain pretty visibly defined abs. 1. Train your abs at least twice a week and progressively overload them just like you would any other muscle group. 2. Watch your sodium and alcohol intake. Fat will obscure the abs, but so will retained fluid. 3. Stay properly hydrated. The more water you can drink, the less sodium you will have to cut out. 4. Get a suntan. I agree though that having ripped abs isn't the highest priority. 10% bodyfat isn't sustainable. It makes you look sucked-up, it kills your strength gains, and it kills your testosterone levels. I think 14% to even 18% is IDEAL for an adult male. It's healthier, it feels better, it's more functional, it's sustainable, and it looks much better in clothes than lower bodyfat percentages do. We've been culturally conditioned to pursue random impractical goals, kind of like those Kayen/Padaung women in Thailand who progressively stretch their necks with brass rings.
@@wulf67 I can definitely agree with that philosophy. For me, #1 made the difference for me. I didn't do the others. Training abs properly with progression instead of just doing 100 sit-ups/day. Hanging leg raises did the job cuz I could train closer to failure due to it's difficulty. (But I could've also done weighted sit-ups.) I used to try & stay super lean(by eating less) to keep my abs but my abs were pretty flat. Once I gained 10-15lbs of lean weight my abs were more defined & blockier. Being 10% bf is the opposite of anabolic & a calorie surplus is needed to build more muscle. I agree with the 14-18% being healthy. But truth be told, I only have a 4-pack at 15%+. I'd have to actively get down to the low teens to have a 6-pack. But it's a pretty blocky & defined 4-pack. ;) Perhaps there truly needs to be a 4-Pack Revolution...
Thank you for such an honest video. I started my weight loss journey about an year back and was at 23% body fat. Now I'm down to 16% and I thought my wife would be really happy about it. But as it turns out most of the time I am irritable and hungry. My toddler girl drains away my last ounce of patience. My friends think I am no fun on the weekends as I am dieting too strictly. And the going is already getting tough towards the 12% goal. So in the end as the video suggested "is chasing the six packs really worth it?"
Vast majority of this video is a very big and hard pill to swallow and sad and ugly truths to come to terms with, however; depending on how we use it to our advantages with its pros to outweigh the disadvantages and cons, it can be an absolute blessing. Probably the most transparent and informative video one can get on the subject. There's still so much people around who think that burning waist fat is done by doing belly exercises, which is a complete misunderstanding on the subject. Getting shredded and getting muscles strong are two complete different approaches / principles.
I’m less preoccupied with a six pack and more focused on not having a gut. As long as my midsection is as flat as possible and I’m not the dude in the ocean or pool wearing a T shirt, I’m good. I’ve never heard or read about a man being rejected because they didn’t have a six pack.

I listened 3 times to the part of very low body fat, under 8%, common to be shredded for a 6 pack; when my girlfriend mentioned 6 pack abs, I was able to reel off "it's not necessarily healthy..often leads to lower energy, lethargy, lower testosterone and lower sex drive" She then says, ok, shoot for a 4 pack.

Would fasting help in losing fat? Men in my family store more fat in their mid-section. Not to mention Ramadan is in a week. Would doing ab workouts while fasting allow me to see results sooner?
It would help because you are in an energy deficit but I think it’s better to just watch what you eat. I tend to stay away from fasting because I tried it and though I lost a lot of fat, I lost a lot of muscle mass that I gained and it was a huge set back for me.
Cut down on vegetable / processed oils, sugar and lower your amount of carbohydrates from food. Increase on full fats and stay on protein rich foods. No to fruit juices or any sugary drinks. Fasting is the best method from my knowledge to burn fat.

I have love handles, but a decent back. I am what they call "skinny fat". I find myself lacking confidence in my body and would like to change that. Any tips?

ive managed to get part of my abs popping out from developing them but i got the unfortunates of having all my fat in my mid section, everywhere else i got very little fat, really sucks and ive been maintaining a good high protein nutritional diet but it just doesnt want to go away, at this point im just happy where ive gotten and im going to just keep up my goals at getting bigger and stronger muscles and not care about how i fully look on the outside, there is no need to look perfect, if your going to feel horrible

I am 6’2” 275 lb 60 year old male with abs at 15% I played sports all my life, since jr high school coaches always yelled keep them flexed, you can take a hit etc. that is the only thing I can tell you flex them, flex them flex them. vacuum’s are great as are Roman chair sit ups, but like the man on here said don’t waste time on too much ab work.

Women in these surveys saying that personality is the most important are not completely being truthful. If you're good looking enough, tall enough and have full head of hair, THEN you pass the first stage where she then needs you to make enough money, before finally...uh, ok, personality is a great cherry on top, but look how much was needed before even getting to this point. The abs don't matter to women position is not true. Numerous surveys and research projects on attraction have shown that visible abdominal walls are the one of the most important features on men in women's eyes. The other being facial features such as jawlines.
Nothing complicated about it. Eat right and stay active, after all we were designed to keep moving. Bodyweight exercises 3 times per week for example, or get a bike and ride it. Watch what goes down your cake hole. That's it. I can do it at 53 so can you.
Attractiveness not getting into top 10? Yeah bs. Personality is great and all but even in a long term relationship attractiveness is a key factor and, spoiler alert, the leaner you are, the better you’ll look. Wanna have that cute smile? my gym is a playpark, where i does pull ups, dips & pistol squats, this makes my 4 pack looks way greater than anyone else i know
