that just reminds me on how i love to hate fuzz pedals especially the "boutique" stuff for 500 bucks but this one looks and sounds decent and the price is also acceptable imo but the best fuzz i have ever played is the DOD Carcosa Fuzz just because it sounds more like a distortion pedal and is even more affordable for just 115 bucks! .cheers
@@rmaxtpmx I hope they re release the supernatural reverb pedal. That thing has sick tones but was discontinued, finding one since has been next to impossible or at crazy prices.
Cleans up nicely. A little muddy at full volume, but that might be how the amp is set. Would be keen to hear it into a classic Fender like a DRRI, Princeton, Twin etc. I did like those mid gain tones a lot!
Yo! Saw the GOSH as a BACKLINE amp at The Fest in Gainesville, FL this weekend!!! Noice, eh? What a gift. Quicksand’s rig was Brodsky with an HSS Strat into the Tone Chaser and his own Orange 4x12 with Walter using that Jaguar into his JMP 2x12 combo and Sergio Vega’s BASS VI was soo goood👌🏼
The Chthonic is tuned darker to compliment brighter pickups. And pickups with higher output will overload the first gain stage making it muddy sounding.
Amazing but I prefer my fuzz throne pedal made by the one and only Magic Spiegel. A video comparisson between the 3 knob cthulu fuzz from Magic pedals and the cthonic fuzz would be awesome
I know you are trying to defend your buddy but the Chthonic started out based on a vintage Colorsound one-knob Fuzz Box, then we added a gain and tone control and it mutated from there. It's a two transistor 2N2222 fuzz, different name, different circuit.
@@crammojophilter How can we be friends with Magic? I live in Madrid, Spain. I own 2 fx from digitech and 2 fx from Magic pedals. I guess I am saying the creator is wrong. I suppose he can theoretically decide to pronounce it any way he wants given that he's the creator, but a life long enthusiasm for Lovecraft and an english degree from Notre Dame tells me how to pronounce that word in literature correctly. Maybe that's just being disagreable on my part but I'm definitely not the only one who cringed at that.@@RiffsAndBeards

My old band opened for chthonic back in the day! They got me into black metal. Oh.. this is a fuzz pedal. It’s cool too!
Wow, you should do stand-up comedy

Interesting choice for the first new DOD release, cant wait to see more!
That’s one therious futh pedal
So is DOD back at making pedals ? Would be cool seeing modern versions of the pedals we remember.
Yes. DigiTech made that announcement in January, and had been adding DOD pedals all year

Chthonic is the sound I make when I sneeze
You should get that checked out. You may need nasal surgery.
Love the vid! Thanks Fluff
I played this today. It sounds so sick. I like it better than the Carcosa.
I just love how DOD is making pedals based on old cosmic horror and weird fiction. I'd love an Old Leech pedal.
It sounds great. I really like how it react to the amount of volume. I have to try out this pedal. 😊🤘
Mike Tyson Fuzz
Theriously…
😂
Cthulhu approves this pedal 🐙
I hear the early 90's...NW. Nice vid.

I’m also super interested in the instrument cables you have that rotate angle…what brand are those?
Called Pivot-All, I did a video on them recently!

Can someone explain why it doesnt work with humbuckers?

Thiccthonic!
not bad, just not quite what i expected
The kraken looks.
Why say yes to demo a pedal designed for standard single coils or P90s if you didn't have a guitar with them in?
There's finally a Marvel character signature pedal?
Is this Chthonic fuzz based on a Big Muff Circuit or what?
Started from a vintage Colorsound one-knob Fuzz Box circuit - Silicon 2 transistor 2N2222's
Punkifier still wins

Mornin
1:31 he stops talking. Nm, he just keeps talking and talking
This will get lost in the mix…
won’t cut through at all…
Exactly what I was thinking. Needs a mid knob
Talking about “the mix” as one single monolithic concept is absurd 😄
Hate to be that guy, but its not pronounced that way at all. Hard K sound at the beginning; "Ka-thonic".
Well I hate to be that guy, but the creator of the pedal told me on the phone how to pronounce it so I will let you correct him🫡

You are correct but the word “chthonic” doesn’t necessarily have anything to do with Lovecraft.
The creator of the pedal didn’t invent the word so your point is irrelevant
