  • In this video we demonstrate the procedure for vitrifying biological samples using a Leica EM Grid Plunger. This technique has structural biology applications such as single particle analysis, cryo electron tomography and micro electron diffraction (microED). The Lecia EM Grid Plunger is one example of the wide range of preparation equipment available at the Electron Microscope Unit in the Mark Wainwright Analytical Centre at the University of New South Wales.
Please note: Extra care must be taken when working with liquid nitrogen. Always follow the Safe Work Procedure for the task, including wearing all appropriate personal protective equipment (PPE).
